toblix Posted April 1, 2008 Both with this season and the first, I've usually played the first game pretty quickly and then just downloaded the installers for the next ones as they come out, sort of wanting to play them but never really doing it until... something happens. Some unindentifiable value crosses some magical limit and then suddenly I'm all over them, ending up with too long of a wait for the last game. This last one was really excellent. I'm a sucker for time travel and variations on earlier stuff, and getting rid of the usual locales and getting a new hub really made this episode special. Tips to the developers (I know you're all reading the Thumb): even though I've turned down the music volume I'd like to hear the musical sequences at the full voice volume, so that they sequences don't sound retarded. Also, the season 2 hint Max is awesome. Having him set on the next highest setting usually provides me with a hint just as I consider doing something else. I used to avoid hints in games, but I realise that as the autumn of my years approaches I'll have to start using them if I'm going to complete any more games. Also, I really like the latest intro sequences... really flashy and awesome. Conclusion: This episodic thing is really working! And also watch this! edit: Holy shit, why didn't anyone tell me all the Sam & Max trailers are awesome!
Jake Posted October 26, 2008 So I was cruising the "toblix upbeat for once" comments and came across this thread. I rarely take credit for shit like this on forums but this post made me happy so I might as well... Also, I really like the latest intro sequences... really flashy and awesome. That was me*. You're welcome. edit: Holy shit, why didn't anyone tell me all the Sam & Max trailers are awesome! Also me, and a lot of work by another guy. You're welcome again.* And our composer, and the animator who did Sam's run cycle and shoot animation which I stole from the trailer.
toblix Posted October 26, 2008 Awesome. I'm really looking forward to early 2009 and the third season. I'm also looking at the Strongbad stuff, trying to figure out if it's for me.
ThunderPeel2001 Posted October 26, 2008 Aye, once again we agree! Yes indeed, I'm just getting around to playing Season 2, and yes, Max at full mode is more enjoyable... I guess I'm just not the gamer I used to be I'm just starting on the third episode and the opening sequence on that really made my day, "Do it properly, Sam!" Cigol Posted October 26, 2008 Also: What does "john walkers nemesis" mean at the bottom of this thread? The PC Gamer reviewer? "Generally speaking RPS has a somewhat tempestuous relationship with Telltale’s games. Walker specifically tends to go on a big ol’ rant whenever they come up, which probably means it’s a good thing he’s off having adventures in San Francisco and I’m posting the news" Nemesis not the best descriptor, but wasn't sure what else to put. Jake Posted October 26, 2008 John Walker's really liked a few of the Strong Bad episodes, though. A surprise to me, for sure.
