Guitar Hero + Wii = Heaven

Recommended Posts

There is a gaming site called "the Tanooki"? Awesome! :mock:

I just hope they tone down the difficulty a little, I could beat the game on easy, but you never unlock anything on easy... ;(

I hope it's different enough. Honestly, I can see the 360 version fulfilling all my GH needs when it drops in March. And this is me saying it. A hopeless rythym game fan with a great love for the guitar. With very few exceptions, I have played one of the Guitar Hero games for at least an hour a day since November 2005. The only songs I can't get 5 stars on on Expert in the carreer mode are Miserlou and Psychobilly Freakout. (Note: carreer mode. Can't even fucking finish Jordan. Damn you Buckethead...) This is not something I am particularly proud of. When I think of the other things I could have been doing with my time, it's a bit sad honestly. Doesn't mean I'll stop playing though, as I am completely and probably dangerously addicted to that game.

But March '08? GH 360 will have been out for a year by then, with downloadable song packs keeping it fresh. At CES, RedOctane stated their plans to have the tracklist from GH1 for download in the future. (it was an offhand mention, but I can't see them not finding a way to do it) Buying the game on 360 makes some sense because of the online that the PS2 version didn't have. The Wii, not so much. Why would I need another version of the same game? I get that it's going to be in the hands of more people, but think of the market for the PS2. Then add on the 10 million 360s out there. There will be more of each by the time this comes out. I worry that it'll sell like crap because so many people will already have one version or another. In fact, it may actually lose money as a result. I hope that the franchise doesn't over-extend itself here.

So yeah, Guitar Hero on Wii is a cool idea, but they'd better make damn good use of the Wiimote if they want me to buy it again.
