Rob Zacny Posted February 13, 2017 Three Moves Ahead 384: Hearts of Iron IV: Together for Victory Hearts of Iron IV has received its first beefy chunk of DLC with Together for Victory, and Rob, Fraser, and T.J. Hafer are here to tell if you it's worth your hard-earned post war dollars. In short: it probably is. Together for Victory expands on the player's ability to reshape history and manage British Commonwealths. Is the best part of the DLC the battle log? Does Fraser get tired of constantly being wrong all the time? Does this expansion make leasing things fun? Jason McCullough Posted February 16, 2017 Aww, man, this will getting me all excited to actually buy the game until you discussed what a nightmare the air war is. It's been shit since the first game, hasn't it?
Leana Hafer Posted February 18, 2017 Well, air support can have a huge impact on ground combat. But how you establish air support is still pretty wonky.
Scratchy Posted February 24, 2017 The tech trees and units are all the same for every nation in HOI4, some just have flavour text and different graphics to differentiate a bit. Look at any nation's tank tech tree and you'll see it's all the same. The default names being Great War Tank, L Tank I and H Tank I and so forth, and they all have the same base stats. So being able to build the Bob Semple means pretty much nothing outside of a bit of flavour and a different 3D graphical representation. The Bob Semple is just a L. Tank I, same as all the other L Tank Is around the world. The New Zealand tank focus tree branch is basically 50% increase tech speed for L. Tank I (renamed Bob Semple) plus a minor defence bonus buff and then the next one is a tech buff for the next tank, and the Big Bob is just a renamed SH. Tank. Just flavour. Paradox kinda half assed it. The Bob Semple description in the tech tree just has a brief amusing sentence. Consider how the tanks in the German tree have a few lines of description for every one. The Light Tank down the path from the Bob Semple just gives the generic Light Tank description and the Big Bob description is just the generic Super Heavy Tank description. The way Fraser was going on about it made it out to be a brand new exciting thing that's completely unique for New Zealand but it really isn't... yeah having unique flavour names is cool and I like it as well, there's also a load of mods out there that add flavour text to all sorts of nations with new icons and stuff if you're into that and I recommend them. T.J's right, it is just a minor DLC that has some nice things. Nothing game changing.
