  1. Project Eternity, Obsidian's Isometric Fantasy RPG

Fallout New Vegas was actually quite good, and regarded by many as better than Bethesdas take on the material. NWN2, also made by Obsidian, had a very dragging early campaign in the early game that eventually picked up and got quite good, and Mask of the Betrayer, a NWN2 expansion was sort of like a Planescape Lite expansion. They're pretty good at story (better than Bethesda by miles) and characters, but their coding leaves a lot to be desired.
  2. Planetary Annihilation

I was joking. (Though the Steam thing...) They got funded with full stretch goal success, I'm pretty damn happy about that. Though less happy since apparently the 3" figurines are unpainted. Oh well.
  3. Sleeping Dogs

Despite its development origins, this is not a new True Crime game. Judging it based on the True Crime series is a terrible disservice to the people who made Sleeping Dogs.
  4. Sleeping Dogs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27mT0IQCTjU Also it actually has a decently approached mature story (rather than, "Oh my family and freedom!? Time to shoot dudes five minutes after I get off the boat!"), if rather cliche, the melee combat is decent, if a little finicky, the open world stuff is really good if eventually repetitive, and it looks gorgeous. If you want to play an undercover cop story with some decent in-between gameplay, go for it. It's a good game, but nothing essential.
  5. Sleeping Dogs

The ones that choke hold you while a buddy inserts your crotch into your sternum? Yeah, I'm pretty bad at those as well, the timing seems really finicky on getting out of it.
  6. Planetary Annihilation

    You people are crazy.
  7. Life

I learned this when talking about the sniping mission in CoD4 in a bistro. Totally innocuous, you know "The game is so cool, it handles so well, the graphics aren't half bad, the movement feels good, the story is kinda bleh but what do you expect." About five minutes into this conversation we run into talking about missions. "How about when you blow that fuckers arm right clean off, huh?!" Woops.

  9. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Yeah, but you're using a Black Knight weapon and are therefor a babymans. Notched Whip all the way.
  10. Planetary Annihilation

Sorry, are you saying Halo's music is bad? Because the music is one of the best parts of the franchise.
  11. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

    Large Ember though...
  12. Planetary Annihilation

So. At 2 million, they'll have a fully orchestral soundtrack. At 2.1 million, they'll make a Making Of documentary from start to finish. They're cruising towards just under 1.8 for Galactic Warfare, so I doubt they'll hit the 2 million mark, but we'll see.
  13. Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition

You should see the rest of the place. Also someone you know needs to see a doctor.
  14. Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition

Vs In two years there were pretty significant strides in resolution and not having an utterly terrible UI. It admittedly won't matter much to you if you haven't played both of them in their original packaging, but suffice to say there is a reason that Baldur's Gate Tutu, a mod that does the "BG2 engine in BG1" change, is the most downloaded Baldur's Gate mod. After the resolution fix, of course.
  15. Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition

Finally I can beat the everloving shit out of Durlag's Tower with a Kensai.
  16. Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition

You should. It's low level 2.5 D&D, so it's a slog in places, but it's worth knowing the whole story.
  17. Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition

Well, for starters, and perhaps most importantly, it's (BG1) natively running in the BG2 engine, a la BGTutu. That alone is cause for celebration.
  18. Every single TES game has a quest in which a Wood Elf is a; - Cannibal - Superpowerful asshole - Murderer - Cultist murderer - Mouthpiece for the bad guy I'm not racially profiling Wood Elves, Todd Howard is.
  19. You brought this upon yourself, willingly talking to a Wood Elf. Lesson learned for any other TES game ever, I suppose.
  20. Life

    And now you're a man.
  21. Movie/TV recommendations

I am, in general, a fan of Tarantino. His stuff isn't all phenomenal, but he's made some incredible movies over the years. Chapter 4 of Inglorious Basterds, or the bit in the bar, is probably my favorite single scene in movies, but it's so painful to watch once you know what happens. I have to fight myself not to change the channel/turn off the player when I watch the scene because it's so well written and acted and it ends so poorly. Gah.
  22. The threat of Big Dog

Why haven't we just arrested the heads of Boston Dynamics? They're clearly in league with the forthcoming robotic apocalypse.
  23. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

If only I knew how to two-step.
  24. Steam Greenlight

    So you hate sick kids?
  25. Uplay

Anno 2070 isn't a good test because of the weird metagame that it has that requires you to log into a central server regardless of play type. I was able to run AC2 while offline.
