  1. Idle Thumbs 180: Wars and Pieces

Or in Danielle's case 22 hours
  2. Farscape

There is definitely some silly stuff in the future. I also didn't care for Taking the Stone.
  3. What is the Nadir of the Simpsons?

If we're going to use this thread to complain about the Simpsons in general, one of the reasons I can't take watching the show anymore is seeing Homer at work. I didn't realize it at the time, but I stopped watching the show around the time I started working at an actual nuclear power plant. I'm fully aware that the Simpsons is satirical but seeing Homer's workplace makes me cringe so hard. Between Homer's incompetance, the plant's horrible and unrealistic conditions, Burns' malevolence, and Lisa's crusades, the nuclear industry gets a really bad rap in the show. We take it in stride here (there are several ironic safety posters with Homer on them) but it bugs me nonetheless.
  4. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

That could be. I never bothered to figure out what caused the icon to appear. They were always popping up. Are you checking both maps?
  5. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

The slaves that actually unlock the missions do have icons. It's the same white fist icon that's used for the actual Outcast missions. The way you unlock the Outcast missions is to free the slaves that have the white fist icon on the minimap, and then the actual quest will become available. The slaves always have some kind of line asking Talion to rescue his friends because they attacked a slaver or poisoned the grog or stole weapons or something. You don't actually have to talk to the slave to unlock the quest, just kill the uruk nearby. I think the slaves that unlock the missions are randomly generated and seem to spawn relatively close to where you are at any given time instead of specific spots in the world.
  6. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

No way man. Gamergate is full of trolls, and everybody knows that trolls and centaurs don't get along.
  7. Idle Food - Cooking!

That's almost exactly what I'm looking for. I have a rather tight budget at the moment too so that helps a ton. Thanks! I found a pot roast recipe that seemed to work for him and we've made that a few times. I'm looking into more stuff but suggestions are always welcome.

  9. I Had A Random Thought...

    But ethics!... or something.
  10. Super Monday Night Combat League

I can probably do most evenings but a weekend will have the most flexiblilty.
  11. I Had A Random Thought...

As dumb as I think it is, I sometimes wish the entire US had a single time zone like China does. I'm tired of missing out on West coast Twitch streams because they start at 2 A.M. for me.
  12. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

I'd suggest getting on a caragor and just riding around until you see a white fist on the minimap then kill all the nearby uruks. I think those are randomly generated and it seemed to me that the game tries to place them nearby because I never had to go very far to find them. For clarification, I don't mean the mission start markers, I mean the groups of slaves you free to unlock the missions in the first place.
  13. Idle Food - Cooking!

I could use some advice. My father is retired and lives with me now. He wants to feel more useful around the house and has volunteered to cook dinner while I'm at work, except he's a terrible cook and we both know it. Anyone have any good recipes for someone who doesn't have much experience or sense of cooking? Simpler would be better.
  14. Super Monday Night Combat League

I downloaded the game and setup an account. I'm ready to be shamed.
  15. What is the Nadir of the Simpsons?

This is the actual segment from the episode in case you want to see it (before it gets taken down)
  16. Idle Thumbs 180: Wars and Pieces

I never check bags if I can avoid it, but that's entirely because of the hassle involved with retrieving said luggage. I've flown literally half way around the world several times and have yet to lose a single piece of luggage, and I've flown on every major US airline (and a few minor ones). I count myself lucky though.
  17. Super Monday Night Combat League

I wanted to get in on that, but the European times don't work for me. Sounds fun though.
  18. Super Monday Night Combat League

I've played MNC before but not SMNC. They're different games right? At any rate, I'm willing to at least give it a shot (at least until I bail because I'm getting my butt kicked).
  19. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I actually feel better after reading that. Like physically feel better and less angry, like punching or yelling into a pillow.
  20. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

I think the stealth is a bit too easy as well. There is a surprisingly large margin in which you can pull off a stealth kill. They can be fully turned around and facing you and you can still silently kill them without anyone noticing. I'm not suggesting the stealth should be hard because franky I'd hate that, but I think I liked the way Batman did it more. Taking guys with guns head on will almost certainly get you killed but they're not impossible to deal with in a stealthy way. Plus they actually change up their tactics based on what you do, like shooting down the gargoyles so you can't escape onto them or checking floor grates if they find a body nearby. In Mordor, getting noticed changes nothing except the number of enemies. If you climb up some of them will throw projectiles at you but escape is laughably easy. I would have prefered it if the nemesis system included some things that would react to your actions in the same way as Batman. Like if you got spotted in a stronghold with a captain inside, he would gain invulnerability to stealth finishers for the duration of the alarm.
  21. MO MONEY MO THUMBS - PAYDAY 2

Yeah, you can add me. Info is in the sig.
  22. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

I'd probably have to agree as well, except I'm coming from the opposite side. Without trying to brag too much, I think I might be too good at the game. Or maybe its just too easy. I've played through the game twice and only died 3 times, all in the first playthrough. One of those times was on purpose just to get an achievement (the one where a random guy becomes captain after killing you, then you help him become a warchief, then kill him). I can imagine the encounters being more fun if you're not totally confident in your ability to handle 3 captains and 30 guys at once.
  23. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Personally, I think the story is pretty weak throughout. Branding, the best ability in the game, is unlocked later via a story mission so if you're trying to maximize the fun with limited time I'd suggest sticking to those and not doing too many side quests until later. The side quests are mostly just for experience anyway and the ones involving captains are randomly generated and will cycle between several scenarios. The collectables add some extra lore if you care about that at all but they're entirely skippable. There's some fun emergent stuff that can happen as a result of the nemesis system, but if you're not into the combat/stealth parts I don't know that you'll enjoy the rest of the game. I'd suggest going at least until you get branding. If you're not into it at that point, you probably won't be.
  24. Spelunky!

I really dug the Metroid mod for the same reasons. It was really interesting to see just how much you rely on knowledge of enemy behavior and familiar patterns and situations. The first few times playing with a new skin are almost like starting over again. I think I previously compared it to Jason Borne. I still have all the skills and reflexes, but I don't recognize characters and environments. The Metroid mod in particular was really well done because it reskins almost the entire game, including items, environments, enemies, and even sounds if you get the additional mod pack. I recorded a few daily challenges with it when it came out. They're somewhere in the Idle Explorers thread if anyone cares to look for them. Edit: Here's where it starts
  25. Borderlands The Pre-Sequel!

For the longest time I kept thinking this was the game Telltale was working on and was really confused by video I've seen. Only yesterday did I realize that I was confusing it with Tales from the Borderlands.
