  1. I Had A Random Thought...

Was it made from fresh vegans?
  2. anime

RE DBZ: I've mentioned this before but my biggest beef with the series (besides how agonizingly slow it is) is that it's basically the Goku show. The guy does everything. You have all these characters who have risen to levels of power that were previously unimaginable, but it's still one guy who saves the day every time. The exception to this is Gohan in the Cell saga, which is what makes it the best part. As for the movies, I liked part of the 13th movie, Wrath of the Dragon. It provides a pseudo explanation of Future Trunk's sword (Future Trunks being my favorite character). What I like about this is that it's ambiguous about whether or not this actually is his sword since it logically can't be but is nonetheless implied to be. I also liked the 12th movie, Fusion Reborn, because of how goofy it is. It features several past villains (including a cartoonish Hitler) that are dispatched with ridiculous ease, a fat failed fusion of Goku and Vegeta, the dragonball wish granting dragon being summoned and yet no wish is actually made, a Pokémon like main villain who only says his own name, a completely serious fighter who tries to free people trapped within crystal jellybeans by swearing at them, and the final finishing move used on the villain is a rainbow.
  3. Person of Interest

Every time I see a trailer for the game Watchdogs, I immediately think of the intro to Person of Interest.
  4. I figured you'd get a kick out of The Defiant. But don't expect any more followup on it, you were lucky to get this episode. The closest you're going to get is a tiny little nod in the TNG movie First Contact where Riker (the real one) calls the Defiant a "tough little ship" (he says this to Worf, who was in command of the ship. Worf's response is "Little?!").
  5. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

The syrup of ipecac joke is one of my favorite dumb jokes in any game. Also Guybrush's comment about how weird the feeling of getting all his cool items sucked out by the quicksand is.
  6. Just watched The Search. Hot fluid on fluid action. And a side note: the actress who plays the Romulan, Martha Hackett, also plays a recurring character on Voyager, Seska.
  7. I Had A Random Thought...

    Please god no
  8. I Had A Random Thought...

I liked the Trunks special, mainly because Trunks was my favorite character as a kid, but the Bardock one is neat too.
  9. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

I did Vella first, partially because of the reasons you stated but also because in the beginning I was more interested in Shay's story so I decided to save it for later. In the end I liked them both (maybe Vella's a little bit more).
  10. I watched Tribunal last night. As I was watching the Cardassians and their crazy legal system, I started getting upset. This feeling felt familiar, then I realized it was because it's the same kind of upset I get when I read internet comments. In the Cardassian legal system, the verdict is always known because the defendant is always guilty. There's no way to reverse this decision, the purpose of the trial is to show the guilt of the defendant and give them a chance to publicly confess before they are executed. This is basically every internet argument and it drives me nuts. It's strange that Star Trek is becoming more relevant and topical to me now than it was when the show first aired. I guess that's a trait of good sci-fi, but it's also depressing because it shows we haven't really learned anything since then. In a lot of ways its worse.
  11. I Had A Random Thought...

That's exactly why it should have ended with Cell. Goku passes the mantle on to his son, end of story. Instead, the story continues and once again Goku has to come back from the dead to fix everything because apparently everyone is useless without him. As for shit not making sense (not that any of it does), the thing that always bugged me was Trunk's time traveling. I liked Trunks, but his time travel makes no sense. I can accept his future being an alternate timeline, but why does he go back to it every time instead of going to the future of the new timeline? I mean after he gives Goku the pills, shouldn't he go to the future of that time instead of his original one? I haven't seen DBZ Kai, but it sounds vastly superior to the original.
  12. I Had A Random Thought...

I think DBZ should have ended after the Cell saga. It always bothered me that Goku was always the one who ends up saving the day. Why bother having a cast of super powerful characters when you really only need one to do fucking everything.
  13. How do you response to trademarking "candy"? With a trolling game jam of course.
  14. Spelunky!

I can see certain seeds becoming known for being difficult or tricky and seeing speed runs come out of it. Almost like a parallel daily challenge where people can challenge each other to the same map but instead of competing for score you're competing for time.
  15. The 'Does this thread exist?' thread

Not every post has to lead to great discussions (ie every post I've ever made). I think that's perfectly acceptable content for an existing thread.
  16. The 'Does this thread exist?' thread

If it's for a specific game, I think it should go in the game's thread. The business thread is for larger things that aren't tied to a specific game or franchise, like the Nintendo Let's Play thing. I don't see why stuff like release dates, trailers, etc. need to be in anything other than that game's thread. I think that would lead redundant posts, like a trailer being posted in both the "general" thread and the game specific thread. That's what I think anyway.
  17. The Idle Thumbs 10th Anniversary Committee

Yeah, I don't want to have to choose. Please don't make me choose.
  18. This is a really dumb observation, but the intro to DS9 is super boring. Shots of the station with credits over it gets old quick. Granted, it's better than TNG with names floating in space as the Enterprise zips around, but I think Voyager has the best. Those scenes of planets and stuff are actually nice to look at. Watching it pass through a blue cloud, the reflection in a planet's rings, the shadow it casts when backlit. I still think it's pretty, even now.
  19. Dreams!

My dreams last night basically amounted to me being killed over and over by Xenomorphs from Alien. I did not sleep well.
  20. Dreams!

I had yet another dream involving the Thumbs. The frequency that these are occurring is starting to become creepy. I think my subconscious has a crush on the Thumbs or something. Anyway, I dreamt that Sean and Jake were at my house and we were having a grade school like sleepover. We stayed up all night playing Nintendo 64 games that didn't exist. When morning came, it was revealed that Jake was actually a secret agent. He pulled out a smartphone, summoned his spy car, hopped in, and drove off on some mission. Sean was in the bathroom while this happened and when he came out (now looking like Tom Cruise for some reason) he produced a gun from nowhere and vowed to get Jake. He then climbed up to the roof of the house and grabbed the bottom of a rope ladder that was being suspended from a helicopter that conveniently appeared. As he took off after Jake, I simply shrugged my shoulders as though this were an everyday event and decided to go swimming in the pool. Then I woke up.
  21. Idle Thumbs 10th Anniversary

I've been a reader since episode 3 and loved every minute of it. During the hiatus I must have listened to the existing casts about 10 times. Even though I registered for the forums 4 years ago, I didn't start becoming active until after the kickstarter. Now I can't imagine not checking the forums on a daily basis. I've met some amazing people via these forums and even the Thumbs themselves. Here's hoping the next 10 years blows us all away.
  22. Spelunky!

If you're really interested, you can download the GM source code for the game. It's publicly available on the website.
  23. I agree it's a good episode for doing that, but like so many sci-fi shows, no real change gets made at the end. Not that I would expect it to but it would have been nice to see some larger effect. After all, one of the Ferengi involved was the leader of the entire species. (And I know that change actually does happen later but I haven't gotten there yet) And I'm going fast because I'm skipping a lot of episodes. I'm also watching a lot of them on my Nexus 7 while I do other things so I end up going though several episodes a day.
  24. I suggested Demon because it's a precursor to another episode on my list that depends on you having seen Demon first. I watched the DS9 episode Rules of Acquisition today and man, the Ferengi are the worst. I don't mean that they're not amusing to watch, I mean they are terrible people...aliens...whatever. An entire culture that's not only centered around money, but one in which women aren't allowed to wear clothes, leave the house, or own anything. I cringe to think of the MRA idiots who would watch that and cheer. Star Trek is weird at times because it's simultaneously the best and worst thing.
  25. Before I forget, I'm going to add one DS9 episode to Gormongous' list specifically for BigJKO. Defiant - 3x09 That is all.
