No matter how much I want to, I'll never be able to see myself blink without the aid of some kind of device.
-
That last point is a good idea. I would be more willing to pay a little bit of money to try a small purchase out if I knew it was going to lower the cost of the "full" game.

A Dedicated Thread For Talking About Star Trek Episodes
SecretAsianMan replied to BigJKO's topic in Movies & Television
Now that I've finished up DS9, I'm engaging in some circular self indulgence and watching Voyager episodes from my own list. It feels weird to be back on a ship again and dealing with science/technology problems instead of political ones. Also that episode of TNG that Jake talked about in the latest cast is appropriately enough called The Game. Commander Riker is the one who introduces it to the crew and it's up to Wesley Crusher to save the day. Also features a young Ashley Judd as Wes' gal pal. -
If the Steam tags ever had a chance of being a serious and actually helpful thing, I would never suggest making dumb jokes like this. But since that's not likely to happen I think Baboos are in order.

Not at all man, it's my favorite too.

Guess we'll have to use "Congrats Nick"

I kind of feel like the whole motivation behind having Pen Ward pitch games started as a joke, but now it's come too far and they have to see it through.
-
The Walking Dead games (and other Telltale games) need to be tagged with "Famous" and "Video Games". Gone Home and Bioshock 2 should be tagged "Hot Scoops". Can you swear in a tag? Could a "Congrats Nick" tag exist?

I'll take that list. Did they announce a Pen Ward game too?

Man, the idea of a special series of tags just for the Thumbs community to understand and use sounds fantastic to me. I want to view a list of games tagged "baboo" and be presented with a bespoke list of Idle Thumbs recommendations.

Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

I was ridiculously tired last night and I don't remember what happened at all during the daily. Maybe I should record them. -
I haven't posted much in the Amateur game thread because I haven't had a lot of free time lately, but I would support a new forum for it. There have already been enough discussions of Unity, Gamemaker, and various individual projects within that single thread that I'm having a hard time keeping things straight. I think a separate forum might be good because then we won't be stepping on each other's toes so much.

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS
SecretAsianMan replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
I hate to bring up King and the candy trademark bullshit again, but this is terrible. http://candyswipe.com/king Basically, Albert Ransom made a match 3 game called CandySwipe in memory of his late mother. The game was released in 2010, before Candy Crush. Ransom opposed King's trademark on grounds of confusion, but didn't make it a big public affair. Since his trademark predates King's, King bought the rights to a game called Candy Crusher that was made in 2004, well before either game. Since King now owns this name, they have filed to get the CandySwipe trademark cancelled because Candy Crusher has precedence. That is some pretty underhanded shit. -
The lesbian tag is actually a spoiler.

Do they seem aware of the true nature of the site? I would also agree that you should stay unaffiliated. Maybe give them your blessing to make their own version (because it does sound like a great idea to have 2 objective sites) but like subbes said, don't dilute your own brand. -
You are mostly on the right track with the third barber. The step towards recruiting the barber that you are currently on is also Mega Monkey specific. Some increasingly less vague hints

A Dedicated Thread For Talking About Star Trek Episodes
SecretAsianMan replied to BigJKO's topic in Movies & Television
I finished up DS9. I feel the same way about the ending that I did for most of the show. Intellectually, I like it and appreciate the larger themes. But as a bit of entertainment, I wasn't hugely into it because it felt rather impersonal to me. Because everything is about big, global conflict or conflicting ideologies or religion or what have you, I didn't get very attached to any of the characters that much. I still like many of them, Garak and Odo in particular. But I didn't get that same closeness as I did with TNG or Voyager. Also the Pah-wraiths are dumb and completely unnecessary for anything. One thing I did like about the finale was the way it shows everyone moving on instead of just continuing as if nothing happened or abruptly ending. I didn't really care for the flashback presentation, but it was still nice to get a degree of closure. -
I usually listen to old episodes of the podcast while playing, so I have the game's audio turned way down. Sometimes I'll not hear the eye's sound at all, but the visual cue was easy for me to see on the old HUD. I'm sure I'll eventually adapt.
-
I like the Pro HUD, but there are 2 things I wish I could change. I wish I could turn off the timer. I don't want it completely gone, just an option to hide it. I understand the motivation for having it, but I personally dislike how I now know exactly when the ghost will appear. I think it was more fun when I wasn't sure and the ghost's unexpected appearance added more tension. The other thing is I don't like how small the eye is now. I've almost missed it blink more than once. Maybe it's something I'll get used to but it was easier to see before.
-
That's weird. I feel like I had the exact opposite happen. The game ran fine before, but after the update everything just seems a bit quicker and smoother.

I couldn't help myself.
