  1. The E3 Retrospectapalooza

    What's a Kinect?
  2. The closest I've come to Dynasty Warriors was N3: Ninety-Nine Nights, which is basically the same game. It was thoroughly uninteresting. I have similar suspicions about Hyrule Warriors. As for the actual Zelda game, I am at this point intrigued. It looks nice and an open world Zelda sounds pretty good after playing Link Between Worlds, but I need more details before I'll commit fully. Like how annoying is the companion going to be?
  3. I Had A Random Thought...

I love how the movie ends, with the magical flying car. If you haven't seen Grease, that was a spoiler so don't read that previous sentence.
  4. I love the 2D Metroid games (mostly) but I'd personally rather have a new 3D one. But I'll take what I can get at this point. We've had discussions about Other M before, including how it wasn't (entirely) Team Ninja's fault.
  5. A cursory glance at Midroll's list of podcasts and the survey list suggests this to be true.
  6. The ASTOUNDING thread of science!

Think of it like encrypted radio transmissions, except the encryption is so advanced we don't even know it's encrypted.
  7. The ASTOUNDING thread of science!

I believe I addressed this in my "stay away from the crazy planet" theory.
  8. The E3 Retrospectapalooza

To be fair, they did say that it was more than just the animations. Not that it's an excuse for lack of foresight or poor planning.
  9. Confirmed: 101% of Idle Thumbs readership is male/female/other.
  10. Jiff?

    With peanut butter? Impressive!
  11. The ASTOUNDING thread of science!

I am of the belief that extra terrestrial life exists. I am also of the belief that we will NEVER encounter it, either because the distance is too great or because at least one of the species will cease to exist (be it us or them) before an encounter can happen. My problem with the Fermi paradox is the assumption that alien life would want to meet us at all. Maybe they did come by, took one look at our planet, and said "Nope, fuck that" and left after erasing all evidence they were here. Then they warned everyone else to stay away from the crazy planet.
  12. The E3 Retrospectapalooza

But what if they were sexy sexy scantily clad females with ridiculous body physics? Surely that would make it even more fun.
  13. Project Steam (aka steampunk Abraham Lincoln)

When I first heard the title Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. I thought it was a Codename: Kids Next Door game
  14. General Video Game Deals Thread

I use a password manager (specifically Lastpass) to avoid having to deal with most of that stuff.
  15. The E3 Retrospectapalooza

Man, Ubisoft cannot stop shooting themselves in the foot http://www.polygon.com/2014/6/11/5801330/far-cry-4-women-ubisoft
  16. Life

There's a tornado watch in effect right now. Hopefully I won't be blown away (ign.com).
  17. The E3 Retrospectapalooza

And here's Ubisoft's response to cutting playable female characters http://kotaku.com/ubisoft-responds-to-assassins-creed-female-character-co-1589413130
  18. Jiff?

So how does one pronounce the .jif file extension?
  19. General Video Game Deals Thread

I put a few items on my wishlist in anticipation of the sale. I'm probably going to stick to those unless I see some kind of crazy 80% off deal on something.
  20. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

They don't necessarily have to point to a web address (the ones around my house/work/car control my phone without connecting to the internet) but using it like that would be a good way to counter my idea.
  21. The E3 Retrospectapalooza

    Yes, yes they did. http://www.polygon.com/e3-2014/2014/6/10/5798592/assassins-creed-unity-female-assassins
  22. Grim Fandango being remastered for PS4 and Vita

I was trying to find a clip from Family Guy of Ted Turner saying he's colorized the moon, but that works too.
  23. The E3 Retrospectapalooza

That's how I read it too. There are a lot of problems in the way games and gaming culture represents things (gender diversity, racial diversity, some other form of diversity). I can't begrudge Danielle for writing about the one she knows and experiences first hand. The media likes to complain about violence in games so what do we do? Put even MORE violence in games. Maybe we should start complaining about how there are too many women in games. Except people already do that and are assholes.
  24. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Presumably since it uses NFC, once it reads the tag it won't have to stay in constant contact. What I'm wondering is if this is going to be broken and pirated because it uses a publicly available, non-proprietary technology. I have several NFC tags around my house and work. Could I simply program one of them to emulate a figure?
