Probably because everyone keeps begging for it and they know people will buy it. Saw someone say on the internet today "I don't buy many games, but I'd pay $60 per episode for this FF7 remake." Yup. -
(To be clear, I'm not complaining at all. Just riffing on the concept of DF being stuck in the past. I have no doubt they've got some other New Shit in the works, too. And even if they aren't, I still wouldn't complain.)

I have always preferred and will always prefer A Bug's Life to Toy Story. That's about as deep as I am willing to get on this. Because I have no real justification for it. I just like A Bug's Life more!

Not to mention there were layoffs shortly after Spacebase development stopped.

Also wasn't Massive Chalice after Spacebase, and nobody (as far as I know) has any complaints about how that campaign was run. Also also Spacebase was a strange experiment with crowdfunding AND early access (where the "crowdfunding" was just "you can put more money in if you want"), and I think where they failed was the early access part, not the crowdfunding part. Both of their exclusively-crowdfunded projects have been completely solid.
