You are probably right that assuming that someone using "anime" is intending it to be negative is not working on the best of faith. Sorry if I interpreted it incorrectly. It's just like I was saying earlier, it's such a common thing, it just sorta gets to me after a while. Well hey all's well that ends well!

man i am actually like kind of legitimately angry that what started as "hey don't be so dismissive" turned into "lol internet" i could say so much more but it wouldn't go over well for anyone involved if i did so i'm just... done, i'm done, fuck it only other thing i'll say is that chris (and also voxn (and also whoever else)) i was not intending to call anyone out so i dunno if that's why it all blew up like this or what but... that wasn't the intention, and i certainly wasn't upset to start with, so, you know, take that as you will

Well, if it's any consolation, I feel the same way about most shorthand, positive or negative! But anime already has like The Worst reputation, and I think it is (sort of) undeserved, so in that sense I suppose I was/am embracing the spirit of defensiveness because I tire of seeing anime be the butt of the joke all the goshdang time. Less so around here, but you know, death by a thousand cuts, etc.

I'm not defending anime. People can like or dislike it all they want; that's their prerogative as human beings with opinions. I'm only trying to get people to stop using the word "anime" to describe "bad things". I don't think that's unreasonable. Although if I'd known it was going to blow up into this weird controversial thing I would've just closed the thread without mentioning it!

I insinuated no such thing! And, c'mon, I could find tons of anime series or movies that have few or none of the things in your list. I could also find tons of non-anime series or movies (or games (or whatevers)) that have most or all of those qualities and yet are very obviously not at all inspired by anime - and many of which, in fact, existed before anime was even a big thing over here in the west. I don't understand why it's even worth defending it! I'm not hugely upset about people using the word "anime" like this, as it's so common I kind of have to just let it slide in most cases (such as The Internet at Large), but I figured it'd be okay to bring it up here and essentially say "hey maybe don't please!" without a response essentially saying "hey them's the breaks kid!". I also think it's silly to compare anime (a medium of entertainment from a specific region of the world) to a slasher films (a genre). I suppose you could argue "Japanese animation is a genre", but that's where I'd exit the argument, laughing silently to myself as words lose all meaning forever.

Brb writing 50000 words (IMO we should have a new thread for each new prompt, and maybe if it becomes a permanent fixture we could convince someone to make a dedicated sub forum)

Yay! I'm jealous of your success and your work ethic. You are a role model and a hero. -
To be completely frank, the idea of someone defending the use of a word that represents an entire medium of entertainment as a pejorative is pretty absurd. I'm honestly shocked that I would see so many words dedicated to such an argument. Especially on these forums! Or maybe I should be the opposite of shocked at seeing in on these forums. I kinda bounce back and forth a lot lately...

It has replaced twin-stick controller. I have never and would never willingly use a twin-stick controller for a shooter, though. For those types of games, the Steam controller is better than a twin-stick controller by a million miles, but mouse is still better than Steam controller.

Lots of people do! I just take umbrage with the dismissively negative connotation for "anime" that is so popular these days.
-
I use it all the time when I'm actually playing PC games that aren't Dota 2 or TF2. (Which, admittedly, isn't much lately, but that's just 'cause I've been playing other platforms instead.) I love the Steam controller. I think it's a shame so many people were unwilling to give themselves the time to adjust.

"anime" i'd describe the short i just watched as "typical blizzard nonsense" but well i actually watch anime so what do i know!!!

Remember Me is a great game with an utterly fantastic soundtrack and some cheesy less-than-stellar plotlines and decent gameplay and a fun setting!!! Pretty excited to play Vampyr, whatever it ends up being.

I feel you there PM. I know realistically ain't nobody give-a, but it doesn't help me stop from thinking everything I do is an embarrassment. I bought an elliptical, though. It's in my apartment now! It started making REALLY GODDAMN LOUD NOISES, so I stopped using it. I recently acquired some WD-40, but having never used the stuff before because I am a child in an adult body I have no clue what I'm doing and so I haven't applied it yet. I'm sure it's easy. I've also been "busy" lately. On top of the majo-depresso.

Overwatch - That time Blizzard made a non-Diablocraft game.
Twig replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
There's no reason to keep it separate, though. Dota 2 easily handles a dozen (or more?) regions, and just lets users select which regions they want to enable for their own personal matchmaking. No reason Blizzard couldn't set it up that way. Dota 2 also lets you select languages, but people don't seem to respect that all too often. U: -
Yeah, pretty much! Also ethernet over coax is pretty good, but it depends on how old the wires in your house are. EDIT: Actually I was thinking of ethernet through power outlets. I have no idea about coax!

Yeah H2G2 was definitely a mind-opener for me. I think that's when I finally realized how much I loved reading. I still have dreams about flying by trying to "miss the ground".
