Tycho already linked it, but don't get too excited. It's a definite improvement, but I'm wondering just how much better it'll be. It'd be neat if they let each member of a group choose which types of message pop-ups to receive, so that I could ignore all messages related to game X, or whatever. We'll have to wait and see just how much can be done, I guess. U:

Oh god, no! I was just being stupid, man. -
Yeah, from what I understand, the Gunboats would've gone to the demoman. What a shame. ): Also, unless the group becomes unmanageably large or there are an exceptional amount of events for one game, I see no reason to split everything off into separate groups. Also, maybe the new Group stuff Valve just announced will make things better, so that it's unnecessary, anyway?

I'm still upset the soldiers won. ):

Yeah but it wouldn't actually be an MMO*. That's the genius! *Well, until Valve makes it an MMO, which they clearly want to do. CLEARLY.

This is something that I've been kind of expressing desire for for a while to friends, so I'm just gonna come out and say it here, too. I want an actual TF2 raid mode, where a group of players play cooperatively to complete objectives. Kind of like this, but not actually like this... more like MMO dungeons. I want some really involved strategy here. I want the medic to be a full-time healer and the heavy or the soldier to be the tank, managing aggro on the bosses and the scout and pyro and demo and scout to be damaging and dodging various scripted moves. And the engineer, ohhhh the engineer. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. ):

Mos def! It probably helps that I'm invested in Valve as a company. You might call me a... fanboy. But basically, I've never been disappointed with a Valve product (except Steam can be a bit fucking clunky at times), so whatever they do, I always find myself drawn in. U: but lol hl3 ain't never happenin'

Horde modes can be fun. I GUESS I TOO HAVE A REASON TO START PLAYING TF2 AGAIN.

No, "racks" is pronounced "rackes". -
To be fair, that is her whole schtick... A dominatrix succubus. I mean, what, a succubus should wear a sweater? U:

The puns are the best! Sand King has some of my favorites, but one of the newer additions, KotL, has some pretty great lines. (Not many puns, though.)

There's an in-game mechanic to futz with the time. Also, I loved everything about that game! YOUR OPINIONS SUCK!
-
Yeah I'd heard about that, too, at some point. Hah, I actually completely agree. As I said earlier in the thread somewhere, pointless stat tracking is one of my favorite things to have in a video game.

His specialty is stealing the fucking farm from the fucking carries. -
I never found it too difficult, either, but then I say that a lot, and some of my friends tell me to shut up and stop bragging, so what do I know. U:

Uh, no, that's why gamers are bullshit. But anyway! Attaching arbitrary point values to the things is stupid. That doesn't mean achievements are inherently stupid. What blows my mind is that Microsoft clearly has the statistics available to determine which achievements are hardest to get (simply based on played-versus-earned ratios), and yet they still force a flat value. It'd be so much more interesting if they used those stats to dynamically alter the value of achievements, thus making those "easy 1000 points" more like "easy 50 points". I probably still wouldn't give a shit about the point values, but they'd certainly be far less arbitrary at that point. EDIT: And here's a site that actually does exactly what I'm talking about! (But for Steam games.) http://astats.astats.nl/astats/index.php

Last night I played Tide in a solo lane versus a Spectre and dominated. It was quite hilarious and sad, but I didn't feel bad about it because the Spectre started blaming her teammates when I knew it was actually just because she was bad. -
The best Pac-Man clone was CD Man and it's the best because it's better. This is not at all based on nostalgia.

Hah, that's convenient! I send out a million emails to people on craigslist every day and get no responses. Wooooo. EDIT: Also the one studio I was looking at (in Oakland, a place I'm told I probably don't actually want to live), turns out I'm too rich for it.

I wish it was real. ):

I debated putting this in the comical youtube thread, but then I decided I love Devin Townsend pretty much always so it works better in here. (That's Devin Townsend dancing to his own song.)
-
Honestly I would try to read that book. I'm not sure how long I would last, but I would definitely try.

No, with friends you've met online.
-
You could play it online. It's not as fun as in person, but it can still be good.

Yes, but that's got nothing to do with which heroes are best for beginners! What! No! Then you have to deal with controlling extra units! Lich and Tide are and always will be the easiest beginner heroes. As long as they don't miss their ults, they're still at least marginally useful. It's hard to actively make the game WORSE unless you're feeding. A fucked up Drow or SK can literally lose you the game by not having the proper farm but being forced to participate, anyway.
