  1. Guild Wars 2

Right now it feels identical to every other low-level MMO experience I've had, except with a bit more emphasis on "personal story" - which is something I detest in an MMO, anyway. I do like the weapon system, though! That's neat!
  2. Steam Greenlight

The problem has nothing to do with expectations and everything to do with convenience.
  3. Steam Greenlight

Speaking personally, I hate buying games anywhere but Steam or GOG, pretty much. Oh, and the Telltale website, 'cause they do it right. U: I'm opening up to Desura, though, mostly because of the Indie Royale bundles. But, essentially, I like having it all in one place. Those people no doubt feel the same. Still, it's weird that they assume your game hasn't been released at all.
  4. Guild Wars 2

I've been told similar by friends, so I plan to do that, yeah. Good news is the problem was resolved. Bad news is I hate low-level MMO play more than I ever did. Playing this game just kind of makes me want to play WoW again literally only because it would mean I wouldn't have to level up to get to the good PvE. Not that I have any idea what high-level PvE is like in this game. Could be completely awful! Tomorrow I'll try WvWvW, though. I have much more hope for that maybe?
  5. Ludum Dare

That's one game as opposed to the hundreds that would result from a game jam. Five of which are maybe good!
  6. Guild Wars 2

Oh god, now it won't even let me log in, because it's claiming I'm logging in from a new IP and so activated my email authentication, but I'm not receiving the email to authenticate. This has seriously been the absolute worst game-buying-to-playing experience I've ever had. I want to break something. I am so frustrated right now. ):
  7. Steam Greenlight

Yeah, it's weird as fuck. But that's why Greenlight exists now. It'll change.
  8. Guild Wars 2

After jumping through five thousand hoops last night, I finally managed to get my GW2 serial key this morning. Never buy digital games from Best Buy. But all of the servers I've been told to join by various groups of friends are full. So that's nice. I have literally zero desire to play if I can't be on a server with friends.
  9. Steam Greenlight

The RPS article about Steam Greenlight has some pretty amazing shit about people banding together to troll downvote games in only the first week. But it seems like, as of now, there is no real reason to care about the downvotes? They don't seem to actually affect anything, as far as anyone knows. It's the comments I'd worry about. Trolls who insult your game for whatever reason are bad because they put random viewers in a negative mood just by existing. Or something. Internet.
  10. Steam Greenlight

I think Valve will change it. Like they change everything. It's an experiment, so shit will get better as time goes on.
  11. Whaaaaa? it's the opposite. There are so few heroes that AREN'T considered "good". Sure, in pub games, you won't see much variety in what people are think is the best, but it's all about picks and counterpicks. Nearly every hero is good at something. I think it is the metagame that is confusing you. For example, I think there was a time when Spectre was one of the most popular picks in Dota 1? I might be wrong, though.
  12. Steam Greenlight

Orv: They said before it launched that it would be a place for games in all stages: just started, in progress, finished, etc. They should do a better job of separating them, though.
  13. Steam Greenlight

Fortunately, it's up to you* whether or not the game ends up on Steam! *For large values of you. I perused the listing when it first went live. Some neat stuff in there. http://www.thegreenlightbundle.com/ This bundle's entire purpose is to get the games upvoted on Steam. Try 'em out for cheap if you want. To be honest, though, most of them look kinda lame, at least on the surface. BUT significantly less lame than SOME of the trash on Steam, so... U:
  14. TF2 gets increasingly unstable the more content they add. (That's yet another reason why I stopped wanting to play it.) That said, never alt-tab Source games. At least not if you're not using borderless windowed mode. (TF2 still likes to break anyway, sometimes.)
  15. That's what I always try to ask people who complain about genre names and/or definitions, but it never works. It's like, no game can be defined by a single word or even phrase. But hearing that word or phrase evokes certain impressions, which you can then expand upon by actually researching the game in some fashion, or just talking about it (which I guess counts as research, in a way). This is an ages old thing, so I'm sorry for that, but: most people who complain about genre names tend to be perfectly okay with the name Role-Playing Game, which is easily, objectively, one of the most ambiguous phrases to define a game. This drives me crazy. I have no problem with "RPG", but I wish people would at least be consistent if they're going to bitch otherwise. U:
  16. Movie/TV recommendations

The show is at its best when Fi isn't present. ): Nah, I like Burn Notice. I just find her to be really fucking annoying. And Michael's reactions to her annoyingities... I even prefer Jesse over her, and nearly everyone hated him when he first showed up. Oh, and this latest season is obviously the worst because ACTUAL SPOILERS . One of the best characters, ruined.
  17. This isn't even remotely comical, but what am I gonna do, make a new thread? I quite liked it.
  18. Same reason people root for sports teams that never win? I dunno. I'm not a sports fan. Or at least, not until now, but I presume it's a similar mindset. I root for Mouz not because I expect them to win, but because SingSing is easily the most entertaining streamer. I am sure there are a lot of people who inexplicably expect Mouz to do well because SingSing pubstomps a lot, but anyone who actually follows competitive Dota 2 and still roots for Mouz does it because they like Mouz. Also, they're still a really fucking good team. Being low tier among the top tier of teams is still top tier compared to the vast majority of Dota players. ... Hey did you know someone started a Dota 2 fantasy league? This amuses the living fuck out of me. http://fantasy.dota-academy.com/Login
  19. Dust: An Elysian Tail

    There is no argument!
  20. Photos of things

Oh oh I like this one this is one of my favorites. U:
  21. When Mouz has it together, they are so goddamn good... but it's not consistent. They are intermittently good, instead of constantly good. I still love SingSing, though, so I will continue rooting for them along with the rest of his fans even though they have no chance. U:
  22. Dust: An Elysian Tail

Robin Hood is one of my personal favorites!
  23. Photos of things

OH GOD I forgot I like taking pictures. I just went and looked at my Flickr account and man that's some fun stuff (although not necessarily good). Most of my photos are no longer available, because my pro account has lapsed, but I plan to renew soon so ALL will be available (including the thousands of billions of hundreds of Japan photos that are mostly awful because that's where I first started learning how to not take awful pictures - I plan to clean that out some day... somehow). Also, I can't link the super-big-size photos, but that's fine. Oh well. I'll randomly pick and choose some craps that I especially like from olden times. Maybe you guys will enjoy them. X: Enough text time for pitchers. As you can see, I like sunsets/sunrises. BUT WHO DOESN'T. U: I really want to start PHOTO'ING again. I'd also like to take a class, maybe, to learn a lot of the basics that I never learned. Mostly, just what the fuck is an f-stop. That sort of thing. U:
  24. Yeah if I could change my address (again!), that'd be great, now that I'm good and settled in SF.
