I don't agree with the idea that you can't compare things in different genres, but whatever. I really like GitS. I just wouldn't recommend it to someone as an example of the best of anime. EDIT: That said, I've always argued against people who try to classify anime as its own thing (as I believe doing so is a disservice to this or that series which really stands out), so I guess I kind of hate myself right now for being a hypocrite. SUE ME.

Yakitate Japan is good because it's so ridiculous. But it does get pretty tiresome pretty quickly. Seirei no Moribito is a really good one. Directed by the director of Ghost in the Shell, too! Kemono no Souja Erin is another decent one, and for some reason I always remember it when I think of Seirei no Moribito. They're both relatively calm fantasy things, so that's probably it. (I'd use the English titles, but I know them by their Japanese ones. Also the apparently accepted English translation of Kemono sounds horrid. "The Beast Player Erin". What.)

It's funny 'cause GitS is pretty good, but not even close to the best.

I was pretty sure that I had more than one autosave, as I abused it frequently when I discovered that for some reason someone had died and I didn't want to start the entire level over. As far as I know, autosaves only occur when you change areas - which means there are only a few per level, explaining why I had this incorrect impression. I suppose it might also occur on loading a save file, which could result in your getting stuck. As to your second point... I have no idea why you're saying this to me like I ever suggested such a thing! I quicksave every other minute, sometimes more often, but I only manually save when I quit the game. SOMETIMES I'll do it in the middle of the game if it suddenly strikes me that I've been playing for a very long time. It's rare, though.

The game automagically autosaves every time you enter a new area, and every single one of those is a separate save file, I believe. It might only store X different autosaves, but there's definitely more than a few of them. Also, that is a most egregious error! Never use only one save file! DANGER DANGER. Quicksave is a different thing entirely, as it overwrites the quicksave slot every time you press the quicksave button.

They're both great, and also by the same studio, and also very different, and also pretty similar.

I hate Escaflowne. I actively hate it and tell everyone I know to avoid it at all costs. I know a lot of people like it, though, so I immediately follow with a, "Well, but that's just my opinion." I found Trigun to be decent, but nothing to write home about. I've been watching Hyouka. It was a recommendation from a friend whose recommendations I trust without reservation. At first, I was a little put off by the setting (ughh Japanese school ughhhh), but it has a nice mood to it, and, somewhat ironically, has animation that's better than most anime that deserve good animation - i.e., action-y stuff. It's like if Sherlock Holmes was an incredibly lazy Japanese schooldude. Of course, that description is itself incredibly offputting... But I like it. I dunno. U:

Does it destroy every save file? I'm confused by the phrase "all your progress". It's incredibly rare that a game crashes in such a way that it corrupts or deletes every single save file.

Significant chance? This is the first time I've ever heard of someone losing every single save file they have. I'd think if there was a significant chance of that happening, it'd be a bigger thing, wouldn't it? I mean, not that I'm trying to downplay the significance of the event itself, as losing progress is the number one reason I'll quit a game, but... mrrrp.
  10. BioShock Infinite

Who said anything about stuck? And even if players were stuck, there are a million different solutions to that problem.
  11. BioShock Infinite

Well that sucks. A multiplayer game where everyone's flying around on those skyhooks seems like it'd be pretty fun.
  12. HNNNNGH. It's so annoying!

Haha what the fuck. That's even better than the ol' candy cigarettes. http://gawker.com/5936690/breaking-bad+inspired-meth-candy-for-sale-in-new-mexico
  14. It's not that I'm disbelieving your assertion (I can't stand most Minecraft communities), but... why, in this specific instance?
  15. Recently completed video games

I played To the Moon. Man, that is a game. I mean, it's not really a game, but I don't think it would have been half as effective if it wasn't structured as an interactive entity. It's quite good.

  17. Project Godus: Don't believe his lies

Molyneus is one of my favorite designers. He constantly under-delivers on him promises, but he also constantly delivers quality games! Some better than others, but none are ever outright bad. Although I always forget this cube thing does bring me to tears with how stupid it is. Interesting, but also completely stupid. I guess, to be fair, aside from technical issues, it is exactly what he promised. X:

That's constructive. That post had some intentional finality to it, and yet you feel the need to complain. I like it. It's very useful.
  20. Dishonored 2: Corvo's Comeuppance

I guess I was confused by this Which seems to imply that you outright hate the very idea. I still think it implies that, but if you're saying that's not what you meant then, hurray! As for the rest, I have no qualms with hating the implementation. I can certainly understand that. I only take issue with dismissal of the basic idea. But it is flawed. I'm more in love with the idea than I am with the way it was done here. (And I'm... not even really in love with it, per se, I just think it's neat.) SO I GUESS THAT'S THAT.
  21. Dishonored 2: Corvo's Comeuppance

Why is it awful? Why can't it just be a thing that exists and is amusing because it exists like it exists? I mean, argue that it's poorly done all you want. I can't entirely disagree there. I like it, but it's definitely not the best implementation of the idea. However, the basic concept is not an inherently flawed one. I don't really understand this idea that everything has to be important.
