  1. Feminism

So wait what. I was under the impression that she actually at least MENTIONED that she was a feminist or something, but all that post is is a "Hello this is my name and this is what I'll be doing and it has nothing to do with design input it's just about communicating with YOU GUYS oh and also I like Mega Man X". And it came with some fan art that she'd made prior to being hired. And people are worried she's going to have some sort of terrible effect on the final product? .................................................................What.
  2. DOTA 2

    (i don't agree)
  3. DOTA 2

(this is not true, mid is the lane for the carry SOMETIMES but not often - usually it is the lane for the mid ganker)
  4. Feminism

People are fucking scum. I mean I honestly don't know what can even be done about it. They just don't care. They're a bunch of sociopaths on the internet. If it were real life, I'm sure most of them would never dare, but since it's the internet they can do whatever they want. Even if it does directly after HER real life, they're in no danger. Anyway, it's gross. I don't know what can even be done about it.
  5. Feminism

My point was it's not exclusive to video game culture. Way to overreact at me unprovoked.
  6. Feminism

I think you mean hooray internet culture.
  7. Feminism

We're like way off-topic at this point, but is there any evidence that she doesn't deserve that job, previous relationship or not? I've no issue whatsoever with people getting jobs because they know the right people, as long as they actually deserve it. Or are people just upset because she's a "woman with an agenda" who happened to get a position, and this is something they're latching onto as justification for their hatred? Side note: out of morbid curiosity I once watched an "anti-feminist" rant by some lady who ended up sounding a fool on YouTube and now YouTube is always recommending I watch more. Usually just one video suggested on the side, among all the ACTUAL related videos. So I'll watch a music video and get one suggest anti-feminist video. Or I'll watch a game trailer and get one suggested anti-feminist video. I never get pro-feminist suggestions, though, despite having watched a ton of Sarkeesian's videos. GOOGLE CONSPIRACY HO! Side side note: I did a quick type into Google to check I was spelling Sarkeesian's name right and the third suggestion was "sarkeesian can be stopped". So that's cool.
  8. Rogue Legacy

refuse to believe I've never used the architect. What a waste of gold! Also, yes, the bosses get progressively easier. At least, you get used to fighting them, and they don't really get more powerful, outside of a bigger health pool, which you also have. The challenge in NG+ and beyond is the REGULAR dudes who get harder and harder. Though at NG+++, they didn't feel much more difficult than NG++. No more tiers to upgrade to, I guess. Well, unless they just straight up turn into minibosses in +4. Hah. Wouldn't that be terrible. Then again, you'll eventually cap out on your damage/health/etc. upgrades. I guess they wouldn't. Anyway, after the last post I made, I finished getting all the cheesemints (I love games like this for that), so now I guess I'm waiting for the new patch. Here's hoping it's good!
  9. I think the explanation was more "PS4 is the Next Big Thing, so that's what we're talking about" but I guess that's synonymous with laziness.
  10. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

I don't know what's happening, but I just wanted to re-express my anticipation for this interactive video entertainment experience. Soon. SOON. I'M EXCITED!
  11. Feminism

    You mean she isn't a bishop's nephew?
  12. anime

I started Samurai Flamenco (first two episodes) and it's kind of amusing. I came in knowing nothing about the series, other than someone recommended it to me. I like it so far.
  13. Rogue Legacy

Hah, all right. Fair enough. The Binding of Isaac is similar in that regard, but I think the game's a lot more interesting because it has the item system it does, plus the branching paths, and the unlocking of further levels, rather than it being pure endurance, and etc. I wish Rogue Legacy had something similar. Every run is basically the same thing after you reach a certain point. You almost never even run into one of those blessing rooms, and nothing changes how you play except the hedgehog curse, which just makes me suicide as fast as possible because I'm not about to deal with that shit. Part of the lack of variety might be that I avoid picking most classes, but also those classes are garbage, sooooo oh well. In fact, I just made it to Rogue Legacy +3 (easier than I thought) because I stopped picking anything that wasn't paladin or barbarian. Barbarian being the clear winner out of those two, even. That shout. I'm concerned the new class will suffer the same. This is the saddest thing I have ever heard. ;_; Especially if this is supposed to be a GOOD example. I think it's a terrible example. The roguelike aspects of it are so minimal that I hesitate to even throw it near that genre. Also since this post was overwhelmingly negative, I guess I should stress that I don't think it's a bad game. It's just a terrible roguelike.
  14. Rogue Legacy

I made it to New Game +2 today. What. The. Fuck.
  15. Rogue Legacy

I didn't say they were easy. I just said they weren't interesting.
  16. No Man's Sky

I'm a firm believer in procedural generation being [part of]* the future for video games. That's not exactly a revolutionary stance to take, but whatever. I think we're a long way off from building a game from the ground up entirely programmatically (obviously!), but it can and will be done in the future. This game is a massive step forward in that line of thinking, I think. Here's hoping it delivers. *I don't think it will (and don't want it to!) replace traditional game development. But there's definitely a ton of room for procedurally generated games to exist. I might look into those books, Erkki. This kind of thing fascinates me.
  17. Episode 8... ?

It amuses me greatly when people discover that for the first time.
  18. I don't know what you're asking, really, but I love the ocean, and any reminder of an ocean makes me happy. I'm already happy because you mentioned oceans! Yay oceans.
  19. Rogue Legacy

I've been playing a lot of Rogue Legacy lately (and still haven't finished with it), so this update is good timing for me. But I'm not sure I really care. By that I mean, I'll keep playing it, I'm sure, and enjoy the new content, probably, but ehhhh the game is mostly just "dodge bullets, kill dudes". It's a bullet-hell shmup in quasi-roguelike platforming format. There's not much to it beyond that. It's fun on a purely mechanical level, but it's not very interesting. The random level generation is boring because all that really means is the rooms are organized differently. The rooms themselves aren't actually ever different. Some enemies are, I guess, but. EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
  20. At first I was like, "Man, this thread is full of fucking morons." Then I saw the game they were talking about, and I was like, "Well, all right, I guess I can see where they're coming from." God I hate that stupid thing. Anyway, I hate genres, too. I know they're useful, but goddamn do I hate them. Everything is terrible. I quit life. multiplayer online battle arena, bros
  21. Episode 8... ?

I've only won twice. Both times with an Axe and an Omniknight. Lost four times outside of that. And then two more with Axe/Omni on New Game+ difficulty. THIS SHIT AIN'T EASY.
  22. Risk of Rain

    Well I'm confused.
  23. Nondescript Adventure Gaming Topique

    This is correct.
  24. No Man's Sky

I really appreciate that he took the time to specifically talk about procedural generation and what it is, because it seems like most people don't really know. They just think it means "oh everything's random". Procedural generation is the raddest thing.
