  2. Yeah when I signed up I made damn sure that wasn't going to happen.

Yes, at this point we have a nice foundation for communication. It's probably a good idea to start organizing this thing, if we want to be serious about it. Maybe separate first into two groups: people who want to work alone (for now), and people who want to work in a group. I'm sure a number of us fall in the former as we're just learning and practicing. The latter can then discuss and split into smaller groups based on interest and desired roles. I'm not good at organizing things though so someone else should do this!

Guys this IRC channel is BUMPIN'. And if I ever figure out what it takes to make some other ops in the channel for when I'm not around, we'll be golden. You know, on the off-chance, some unscrupulous sort opts to join us. Besides myself, I mean.
  5. I'm not sure if you're elaborating at me or what... I'm well acquainted with how the game works. I've played it a ton, as well a few other stories (though I've only ever "finished" one, which I believe was called Winterstrike?). I would agree that it gets pretty grindy at points, but I attribute that to poor overall game design - a hiccup in the flow - and not so much bad game mechanics. Also I wasn't trying to be confrontational with my post, but I guess you took it that way from the first line in your post. Sorry. I just genuinely like the whole StoryNexus platform and have no issue with the base mechanics whatsoever. There is, of course, always room for improvement or expansion either vertical or horizontal, but that doesn't negate what I think is a good system.
  6. anime

The first episode is pretty lame and not at all what the show is about. That's all I got. Wait, also: it's one of the best, so if you don't like it YOU'RE WRONG.
  7. I like the gameplay mechanics of Fallen London quite a bit.
  8. Plug your shit

I really fucking like that okay.
  9. I really dislike the idea that developers should be shutting themselves off from communicating with the internet. Even ignoring the ever-touted possible benefits of open development and all that jazz, I like to communicate with people. I think I'm lucky to have a thick enough skin to handle any vitriol tossed in my direction, should I ever become internet-faux-famous. Or, at least, I think it's thick enough! I dunno. It's not just about vindication for me. Well, not entirely. I'm sure I like that, too. But mostly I just like to engage with people, and talk with them.

All right, if you want a super simple web client, HERE: http://webchat.quakenet.org/ Choose your nick (though be aware that your nick may already have been taken somewhere else on quakenet) and type "idlethumbs" in the channel name. Click Join Chat. Voila! I prefer to have a dedicated client, but YMMV. This is convenient for accessing from places you might not have said client, too. At any rate, I can pretty much guarantee I'll always be idling in here, though I may not respond immediately (or maybe even hours). That's just how I IRC, yeah? Hopefully, if enough people get in on this, there will always be at least one or two people present and active. And then we can have our big scheduled Google Hangouts for awesome show and tell time on top of this.

Nobody's set up a channel yet. I don't want to do it, even though it was my idea, because I hate responsibility. Plus then I'd be the channel creator and who KNOWS what kind of stress that brings and wowowow!!! I actually thought there was an Idle Thumbs IRC channel at some point but all I found when searching for it was an ancient thread regarding the Mumble server where some people (me included) expressed desire for an IRC channel. EDIT: I just joined #idlethumbs on irc.quakenet.org OH GEEZ I DID IT EDIT EDIT: Maybe someone who uses a client that isn't weird (mine is weird and has a bunch of different versions, some of which are borked, and I think I may have just bought a version at some point?? it's been a million years) should write a quick how-to for the less IRC-inclined. U:
  12. I think this is a much better article on creators and internet engagement. It's easy to say "don't do it", but some people don't want to be a silent enigmatic creator. Some people like engaging. You don't, clearly, but that doesn't mean Dong Nguyen shouldn't.

  14. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

YES YES YES! I'm sort of glad Mega Rad Karate Troopers didn't make it, because I also wanted to vote for Extraterrarium and ended up basically just flipping a coin. Now I don't have to choose. SAM: Yeah, should be the same. Voting isn't working for me, yet, but I think it'll just be three votes again.

  17. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

Two out of three of my votes made it to the finals. Now everyone vote for those because they're the best. (Steed and Xing.)

  19. He! Fallen London is surprisingly great! Everyone play it.
