  1. RIP Nintendo, 1889-2016

This would probably be at the top of my list. I'd even go so far as to say give us Gamecube games on it, too. At least 720p resolution, upscale that shit beautifully. Don't fucking just make it bigger and blurrier. Do some shit that makes sense. I'd even take Wii ports to modify the games to work with traditional controls (if and only if it makes sense, gameplay wise).
  2. Yeah I don't think anyone's arguing that it isn't the safer option for them, in terms of business. But that doesn't mean it's okay.
  3. anime

My friend recommended I watch No Game No Life. I haven't, yet. I'm trying to remember who watched it and told me NOT to watch it. I don't particularly trust my friend's judgment. He's got... different tastes than me. HAS ANYONE HERE SEEN IT AND WHAT DO THEY THINK OF IT?
  4. That was my initial thought, too. Also actively saying "we're not having gay marriage in this game" is the single most blatant kind of social commentary you can make, short of explicitly making a point IN the game that gay marriage is not allowed. Fucking weird and dumb.
  5. I Had A Random Thought...

Cars with Pink Moustaches in San Francisco are for identifying Lyft cars. Which is why I refuse to use Lyft, ever.
  6. RIP Nintendo, 1889-2016

    Right. So we don't disagree.
  7. RIP Nintendo, 1889-2016

Does the audience that originally jumped on for Wii controller en masse now collectively own a PS4/Xbone with their respective motion controls? I don't think that's the case. Maybe I'm wrong, but... And it's pretty obvious the quote-unquote hardcore gamers don't particularly care about that junk.
  8. RIP Nintendo, 1889-2016

I think this is legitimately THE reason hardcore gamers just don't care about Nintendo anymore. And clearly the Wii's popularity was not a permanent thing, as all those people who jumped aboard for the fad, have bailed. I think it's safe to call it a fad now, as much as I personally liked a lot of Wii stuff, INCLUDING the controller. Anyway... Yeah. Nintendo will never recapture the hardcore audience until they figure out what it is people like about online and social gaming. Or hire someone who already understands it. Arguably the latter is easier, but Nintendo's so fucking insular that I doubt it'll happen for a long while. That said, do they really care? That's the important question. Maybe they're just going to Give Up on what used to be their core audience. Maybe at this point they see it as a lost cause. I don't know. Despite everything I JUST TYPED HERE, I really think it's insane to say Nintendo is going to die within the next two years.
  9. RIP Nintendo, 1889-2016

Oh, wow, that's really impressive, no one else did that, that's so amazing! ...
  10. anime

Mushishi is so fucking great. I finally finished rewatching the first series and it was just as good, and this new stuff is just as good oh maaaaaaaaaaaaan. It's basically one step away from weird fiction, which is something I have a great love for but didn't have a name for the first time I watched it. Slight undertones of horror with a bunch of weird unexplainable events. The one step away would be the part where things are explained by the Mushi. I also started Nanana's Buried Treasure and it is not what I expected... It got weird fast and I'm enjoying it. Has a decent amount of fanservice, unfortunately, but Japan.
  11. Well, shows what I know. So... NO FREEZEPOP?! I'm out. Fuck this shit. Anyway, that's also a good reason to ask for more money. Whatever. I'm still annoyed because I don't want to own a stupid console but I want to play this game more than most games that will be released in the near future.
  12. Broken Age is a brand new game. Amplitude is a remake with no (planned) new features. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the budget is for licensing costs for songs and such. Anyway, I wasn't implying they didn't need the money. Or not trying to. I just take issue with the deal-with-the-devil feel of the whole thing. I'm not convinced locking Sony exclusivity is worth the cost. I bet they'd make more money if they went everywhere, isntead of just stick to PS3/4, and it's frustrating to me because I fucking love Amplitude. It's my favorite music game ever. And I've hated pretty much everything from Harmonix since. Bleh.
  13. Yeah I was initially super-excited and then immediately super-disappointed by the lack of PC. I, too, was wondering if it was tied to Sony, somehow. But if it was, yeah, why isn't Sony paying for it? And if it's just a matter of licensing or whatever, why not just make a new game? Do they really think nostalgia for the exact songs/mechanics is the only way to get the funding? I think Frequency and Amplitude were originally published by Sony, but I agree that this just feels off. EDIT: There's this. http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/05/05/amplitude-how-sony-and-harmonix-agreed-to-revive-a-classic I guess Sony has agreed to contribute to funding if Harmonix can get the backers. On the one hand, gross, but on the other hand, fair enough, I guess, if you really think you need that much money......................
  14. anime

I was pretty excited about the Knights of Sidonia (I like the manga) until I saw it was 3D and bailed out before I even got in the boat.
  15. I saw some videos of it a while back, or maybe a stream, and thought it looked pretty neat in a lot of ways, although as with every game like it I had no idea what was happening in teamfights because I hadn't been playing it for a long time. But the team-level-up mechanic completely put me off for the exact reasons you state. I'm not interested in that kind of game at all.
  16. I think it's hilarious and I want more gleeful hatred of fellow hosts' passions!
  17. Movie/TV recommendations

I watched a bunch of Warehouse 13. It's pretty okay. If you like dumb sci-fi trash that's not trying to be anything more than dumb sci-fi trash, you'll probably like that. There's a mini-series called The Lost Room, though, which is really good and you might just be better off watching that. EDIT: WHOA WHAT A CUH-RAZY COINKY-DINK
  18. Game Jams

I used Loom at my old job and kinda frequently kept in touch with Ben and... another guy (I can't remember the name I'm the worst!!!). They were both super helpful and awesome whenever I had questions. Then I got laid off the day Iw as supposed to meet them when they visited my employer. Pretty cool! I really like that engine as a rapid prototyping tool! It's quick and easy to learn (based on JavaScript) and quick and easy to make changes and immediately see them in game. Sometimes you don't even need to restart the game, you can just see them immediately. I'll vouch for it completely as an awesome tool. ...I don't know what all that does for anyone, but hopefully it'll incentivise people to try harder?!
  19. anime

http://www.crunchyroll.com/tonari-no-seki-kun-the-master-of-killing-time This is silly and fantastic. Episodes are seven minutes long, so I'll just let it speak for itself.
  20. Well at least I won't have to pretend to plan to play this one since it's not coming to PC. That makes things easier for me.
  21. I would probably genuinely play the shit out of this hypothetical Kingdom Hearts while pretending to be repulsed by it. Am I part of the problem? Sorry guys. ):
  22. Life

My student loan deferral period has ended, and now they're asking me for money again. I still don't have a job. Life is fucking wonderful.
  23. Star Wars VII - Open spoilers

    No, you're not allowed! Nerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd.
  24. Antichamber

I disliked this game a lot. I have a feeling I would have liked it if it wasn't eye-burningly bright. I couldn't tolerate staring at it for more than like ten minutes at a time, and so I pretty quickly gave up after I finally got stuck. It's like the opposite of the things I always complain about in dark games, where I'm constantly having to strain my eyes to see shit because it's so dark and most of the time it doesn't need to be, even for thematic reasons. I'm not sure which I hate more, to be honest.
