The best thing about Metroid Prime is undeniably the music. Okay that's not fair, it's a very good game. The story is, as with all Metroid games, utterly forgettable and pointless, but the atmosphere and exploration and music is fantastic. I'd kill myself for a new Metroid Prime in HD and e'ry'th'n'.

Better question: who gives a shit about battlepoints? Is that really your counterargument? Please.

Again, the solution to all these problems is making it require a unanimous vote. Anyone who feeds or performs some other malicious behavior over not getting the surrender they wanted was going to make you lose anyway. Such an easy solution to a big problem. I'm so smart!

Why not just use IRC? #idlethumbs on irc.quakenet.org !!!

Whoa someone had something mostly positive to say! What's going on! I'm still planning on waiting a long while before I finally get around to it. At least, at the moment. Maybe in a week I'll change my mind, but probably not! I looked up the price on Steam after last time I posted in here and laughed when I saw that the DLC bundle is more expensive than the main game.

Is anyone else strangely excited for the new Wolfenstein game?

I don't know what you're talking about. When I watch porn, I want floods of blood everywhere -
They had a "new thing" in the works a few years ago, because they were hiring for it (or so I heard from people who applied there). But I'm pretty sure that's dead now. Riot's pretty much all-in on LoL and esports.

Wow, so much hate for Harry Potter! They're the best written books of our time. How dare you people act like you didn't love every aspect? This is a sham. I want a refund.

It probably has precedent in a lot of classical literature (Twig ignorantly proclaims), but this is the 21st century! also

Mirror's Edge had the sweetest of jump kicks but no one ever used it 'cause they were busy complaining about having to shoot guns. Anyway jump kicks are the greatest. Guess I should play FEAR too.

I don't think it's supposed to advance the story. It's just a dumb alternate history take on the American Revolution, which is probably why it appeals to me so much. It just occurred to me that the most logical conclusion to said DLC is to assassinate George Washington. Huh.

Okay. I'll wait for the next big Steam sale for the game, then. I'm in no rush to play it, having JUST powered through Revelations, but I'm curious enough if only to see how they manages to go downhill from the excellent AC2. Thanks! EDIT: Oh, wait, how's the DLC? It looks sufficiently stupid!

By base you mean the homestead stuff? I heard it was pretty isolated from the rest of the game, almost to the point that it's basically a separate game within the game. Which is a shame 'cause I always thought it sounded interesting enough, like it had potential. Lack of fluid movement would definitely be a buzzkill.

I'm pretty interested in this. It's yet another game I'd back if I had a job. I'll be waiting for its release with much vigor.

So now that AC4's been out for a while and AC Unity's coming out at the end of this year (?), I just finished Revelations. I want to know why AC3 is bad and why I shouldn't play it, because the setting really appeals to me. For context of how I might feel here are my opinions of each game, which are probably not too surprising... AC1: Good but pretty flawed, by the end I was super excited for the sequel if it happened (and it did). AC2: Very good, a huge improvement over the first game, didn't find much to dislike. Brotherhood: Basically more of AC2. Not bad by any means but disappointing I guess because it didn't feel fresh and new. Revelations: Wanted to be more of AC2/Brotherhood, but felt super rushed and mashed together and the tower defense stuff was stupid so I just ignored it. I know in general people seem to hate AC3. But I don't know why. I mean I COULD go back and read the thread (and I might/will), but I'm wondering if, a while later, people have a different grasp on the game, or if it's still just all hate. ALL RIGHT! GIVE IT TO ME! IF... I mean... if you want to I guess. Also full disclosure: I enjoy the dumb story in Assassin's Creed. It ain't the epitome of writing greatness, or even close, but sometimes I want some dumb sci-fi bullshit. (Though I would probably enjoy the games more if that stuff wasn't there. Which is a weird position to take. I like it, but I'd like it more if it didn't exist? Whatever!)

Yeah I read up a bit on Ciri while refreshing my Yennefer memories, and thought that might be it. I just didn't think she'd ever been mentioned in the games so I thought it'd be weird. I watched the trailer again because it's so pretty and I love the music and yeah I noticed Yennefer this time. CONFIRMED CIRI DANG.
-
Ah! I don't remember it being portrayed as a harbinger of doom, but I played it like the week it came out so I can't make any promises as to how correct my memory is. That sounds entirely plausible, although I'm fairly certain I do remember that the Wild Hunt was chasing Geralt because he escaped death. Either way, yeah, the force of nature angle is sorta what I meant to get at and failed.
-
The only weird thing is the woman is shows has white hair. Yennefer has black hair as far as I know, and that seems like a weird thing to change in a video game where you're not dependent on finding the right actress, etc. That said, she is a sorceress and was once a hunchback before magically making herself more beautiful OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, so I guess it's not out of the question to change her appearance again. Hmm I don't normally speculate this much about video game stories. I feel weird. I fucking love The Witcher. I need to reread The Last Wish and also read the other books. I just found out there are three translated books besides The Last Wish. Oh man.
-
I don't think you're... rescuing a woman. At least that's not the impression I got. I think you're hunting her. (Although I think it might be Yennefer you're hunting for, who you probably don't know if you haven't read the books. Basically she's Geralt's old flame and a sorceress. If it is her, there'll be some Shit Going Down with the king guy. Who knows.) Also the wild hunt has been an element of the games for a while. It's not an ancient evil, it's a force that chased Geralt around in the second game. Well, I guess it could be considered an ancient evil, but I don't think that's ever how it was presented. I think it's more like the grim reaper of the world of Rivia. Geralt "got away" from death and that's why he was being hunted... I think. That's how I remember it. I could be way wrong, it's happened before. If I'm not, I can only assume it's the same for this woman. Ultimate killing machine... well, yeah, Geralt's always been that. Okay I'm done editing my post sentence by sentence now...

I'm always confused when people complain about the combat in either Witcher game because I had no issues with either game besides accepting that I needed to use alchemy to fight well. Oh. And besides the balance problems where certain signs are really overpowered. I think it was the fire sign in the first game and the force sign in the second game? I don't remember. Anyway. I'm still confused. Oh well. ):

Oh I loved the opening titles! It was nice to watch and try to catch the things they were trying to hide. I saw The Illuminati in there once and laughed in a good way. Cranston was definitely cliche, but I've got no problem with cliche when it's done well, and I think his character was done well. Fucking Generic Army Dude, though... Personally I liked that the . It really worked for me. And... then the movie fell apart completely for the next hour. Hard. Like they had a really solid start to Jenga and then someone kicked the tower down in a huff because they don't know how Jenga works.
-
I actually liked the beginning of the movie, Anyway, the movie definitely sucks, but I'll admit there were some parts of it that I actually liked. If only they'd cut out all the middle stuff.

Aye aye, cap'n.

I like that the specific scene you called out in that video involves removing the brain from that dude and your avatar is a brain falling out of Calvin's head. Anyway it doesn't really bother me in the slightest because I am super desensitized I guess but I agree that it's pretty over the top and probably unnecessary. (I haven't played the game, hence "probably".) -
I yams what I yams.
