  1. anime

I'm finally watching Madoka at full speed. Or, well, trying to. It's really slow! I like some things about it, but I find myself unable to really become fully engrossed in it and just absorb three episodes at a time without realizing what happened. I just finished episode seven, and I'm struggling to see what makes it so great. I think it's because I hate the main character.
  2. Life

I continue to be completely and utterly jobless, reinforcing the long-held belief that I don't deserve to have a job I want. I even emailed someone who wanted to hire me for a job I knew I'd hate and they just didn't even bother responding. Goes to show. Yesterday I was told I'd be flown in for an on-site interview at a place that makes games I ostensibly enjoy. Today I'm told they're having a meeting discussing the position I applied for, and they'll get back to me as soon as it's over. That either means they're deciding whether or not they actually want to hire anyone at all OR it means they're deciding they're going to hire someone else. Either way, that was six hours ago. Long meeting. EDIT: Just got an email responding to my latest email saying that my assumption that I won't be flying in next week is correct. But that was it. So I still don't know what's going on, really, except that I'm definitely NOT interviewing with them next week. I honestly don't even know what to do with my life anymore. It's been a year now. I just want to give up. I'm tired of it.
  3. DOTA 2

Yes, there are two groups. I don't remember who's in each group, though!
  4. Divinity: Original Sin

I got Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity packed in with my CE of Divinity: Original Sin (which I mostly got for the second copy to share with a friend). LET ME KNOW IF THEY'RE WORTH PLAYING!
  5. The Fanart Collective

I find it amusing that the Katamari Damacy book title is The Wonderful End of the World when there's that Dejobaan came called The Wonderful End of the World, which is a poor man's Katamari Damacy.
  6. The Fanart Collective

He's only clean shaven in the first game. And the third. And the fourth. Anyway that art is clearly from the second game. (I think. I'm sure someone will chime in to correct me if I'm wrong.)
  7. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Haha that's the exact same experience I'm having, Baron. Blurred Lines and some things in the polka medley. Still funny, though. The last track is especially great. Jackson Park Express.
  8. I think it's almost impossible for someone who has never played Dota or knows literally nothing about Dota to be able to catch on no matter how Beginner Friendly the stream is. Something like a slow-motion breakdown of an entire game after the fact, though, with frequent pauses and explanations could do it, maybe.
  9. I Had A Random Thought...

I do wanna know what you discharge, though.
  10. I Had A Random Thought...

Cheese that discharge. Cheese it all night long, until it secretions all over everything.
  11. I Had A Random Thought...

Ceaseless discharge was a hard boss. Until you learn to cheese it anyway.
  12. Amateur Game Making Night

i laughed way too much thanks for the morning giggle osmosisch

I didn't get that one, either! JonCole: I actually did that for the first season because I was really curious. I don't think there was any benefit to recreating the series for Americans. But apparently the American version stayed good longer? I dunno. I didn't find it all that great so I stopped watching it.
  14. I've never had that particular problem, but I've heard about it happening often enough. What a mess GFWL is. Ugh.
  15. I think it's pretty good! Kong inbred family aside.
  16. Oh sweet I'm really interested in Abyss Odyssey so this is perfect timing for me. This will either push me over the edge or reel me back.
  17. No, that was either never a thing or Microsoft decided not to turn off the servers. GFWL is still running. I had a problem recently where I'd uninstalled Windows Live ID Sign-In Assistant because why the fuck would I need that, and Bulletstorm would literally just not launch at all. It turns out GFWL needs whatever that is. Games For WINDOWS LIVE, huh, go figure. Anyway, dunno if that's your problem. Probably not.
  18. I Had A Random Thought...

I don't know why you don't like my idea to trash talk his comedy on Twitter.
  19. Recently completed video games

There are non-useless Star Wars movies?!
  20. Movie/TV recommendations

But I don't know what it is!
  21. Movie/TV recommendations

I'm confused as to why there's already an HBO remake in the works when the second season has only just started. I also don't really understand why there has to be a remake. Why can't they just air the original version in America? I also don't know anything about Utopia, so maybe it's incredibly culture-specific in nature?
  22. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Yeah I think that would probably be better. He can always do a "best of" album a few years down the line (or however long it takes I guess). Hopefully that doesn't mean less original music or polka funtimes.
  23. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I did not realize his album was already out. I AM LISTENING TO IT NOW.
  24. Divinity: Original Sin

Forgot to post in here after I beat it. I don't really have much else to say, but I want to express MY biggest complaints with the game. UI! Inventory management is incredibly tedious and annoying. Crafting becomes a chore because there's no reasonable way to organize things and so sometimes you end up dragging something from the bottom of your billion-row backpack to the top so you can craft a potion. I'm exaggerating, but it's annoying anyway. Luckily, crafting is largely unnecessary, so I just stopped doing it except for health potions. Moving stuff around on skill bars is a pain, too, but at least I did that way less. I would've liked an option to temporarily (or permanently! this is a crpg let me have all the ridiculous numbers and stats on screen as I want at all times) open up all three skillbars for ease of access. I think the big patch they delivered LITERALLY IMMEDIATELYA FTER I FINISHED THE GAME added two more bars, plus hot keys to scroll through them, so maybe that would've been enough had it been present prior. Either way, sometiems I just wanted to play the game exclusively with my mouse and it wasn't built for that. I mean, fair enough I guess. Still. But here's my number one complaint. ARE YOU READY? Clicking on enemies fucking sucks. It's based on their actual model, instead of, say, a circle on the ground (this would have been ideal!). And they have animations, of course, because they should, this is a video game. But if they happen to go into one of their weird overexaggerated animations while you're thinking about stuff and then you decide "yes, I'm going to do that after all!" and click just as the human enemy's torso leans excessively forward... you end up clicking to move, instead of clicking to attack. This is especially annoying if you've got the bonus to backstab damage trait, because now you've got to move back and you've wasted an entire potential attack to do so. Blargh. The writing is definitely average at best. It trends toward bad when trying to be serious, and good when not. I think there's also a lot of bugs with the interaction between the two main characters. Sometimes I'd make a choice with one, and the other's choices would both AGREE with the choice made by the first. I'm pretty sure it's always supposed to offer a choice to agree and a choice to disagree for every single one of those little interactions. It's like they got mixed up, grabbing both the "yeah let him steal the fish" choices instead of one of those and one of the "don't steal" choices, for example. The other problem with the writing is that everything's incredibly black and white with your main heroes. Often enough, the choices offered are not choices I would like to make. But I accept that as they are supposed to be good guys in the end, no matter how they go about it. I guess I lied. I had a lot more to say. But... despite all that, I fucking loved the game. I'm just better at complaining than I am at praising, I guess.
  25. I want a new Wario Land, please.
