  1. Divinity: Original Sin

FWIW I find mice with lots of buttons to be sort of... unwieldy. But for the purposes of playing this game on a couch, I imagine it's the best option. Also yes quicksave button is mandatory. Although the game is pretty liberal with its autosaves (and you can adjust autosave frequency in the options).
  2. Divinity: Original Sin

Though if you had a mouse with lots of buttons, you could set them to do the alt/ctrl for you.
  3. Divinity: Original Sin

I don't know if it's possible to play with a controller. And even if it was, it would be really terrible. This is a CRPG, not a WRPG or an ARPG. GENRES. Point is there's a lot more to it than just move and attack. The amount of menu navigation alone, and the way it's handled, make using a controller near-impossible, and definitely bad.
  4. Recently completed video games

Yay someone besides me actually liked Remember Me!
  5. I watched you a bit yesterday! But then I realized I was spoiling the game for myself so I had to stop. D: D: D:
  6. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I should really get into the PVP aspect of Dark Souls. Or Dark Souls 2, once I start playing it. ...Which might be like after this video ends.
  7. I Had A Random Thought...

I sorta wish these forums didn't host my avatar for me so I could link to a page on my website that would return a random image avatar every time someone accessed it. Does that make me a bad person?
  8. Feminism

I didn't find it mean-spirited at all. I thought it was just a silly joke.
  9. Haha I completely unironically love that. It is great.
  10. Plug your shit

FWIW, I've seen plenty of webcomic artists go back and redraw pages or even chapters and the only time there seems to be any backlash is when they change the story, like an edit that feels more like a retcon to long-term fans. But even that is... whatever. Webcomics are such a weird way of doing things. With a normal comic, you'd do it all, then go back and edit and edit some more and more and more. Personally I admire webcomic artists who actually take the time to go back and fix things they don't like. Also I've somehow never taken the time to read your Shit and I feel ashamed. I will amend that posthaste!
  11. But he looks so scared and timid!
  12. DOTA 2

It's worth nothing that Moonmeander, as far as I know, is one of the most hated public figures in the genre, regardless of game. He plays Dota 2 now, I think. Everyone still hates him. I never really knew about him until after Dota 2 came out but I don't think I've ever heard a positive impression.
  13. Everything is worth mocking. LITERALLY ALL OF THE THINGS. Especially me, though.
  14. DOTA 2

It's aesthetically disgusting. Much like Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, its overall look and feel is designed to produce the purest form of rage within its players. Every moment of visual acknowledgment of the game smacks the player in the face with an anger stick. Over and over and over, until there's nothing left. oh god why new page whyyyyyyy
  15. Feminism

I agree with your last bit, though. There's an episode of Love + Radio starring Daryl Davis, a black musician who interviewed and befriended and turned several leading figures of the Ku Klux Klan: http://loveandradio.org/2014/02/the-silver-dollar/ Pretty good episode. I think it speaks for itself on the matter of including even those who hate us. EDIT: Also my above post (oops I double posted!) was not meant to be a defense of firing people or holding D&D/WotC accountable for the actions of these people. I actually agree with you in that regard. If these people are good at the job for which they were consulted, then good. It's only if we find their influence actually hurt the game in a way harmful to inclusion that we should worry. As far as we know, that is not the case. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't make a big deal of these people being bad for other reasons. Witch hunts help no one. I hate that shit. A bigger concern for me is how quickly and easily the people at WotC dismissed claims of hurtful things Pundit/Zak said. "I see no strong evidence" despite allegedly dozens of people submitting reports. That's pretty nasty.
  16. Feminism

Having "controversial" beliefs and actively discriminating and promoting hate and anger are completely different things. This isn't a case of these people simply having problematic beliefs. This is a case of someone actively engaging with and insulting people on a regular basis. A simple example: Someone can be against homosexuality - that is their prerogative - but the second they begin spewing vile words about gay people is where the line is drawn. Someone can be for homosexuality - that is their prerogative - but the second they begin spewing vile words about people against homosexuality is where the line is drawn.
  17. DOTA 2

Basically it's that HoN is filled with nothing but the most vile dregs of humanity, and LoL has actual people playing it, much like Dota 2. People like to use HoN as an example of surrender gone wrong, but really it's just an example of everything gone wrong, so it's not an apt comparison. The people who employ the HoN comparison know all this and insist on using the comparison anyway because they think other people don't know better.
  18. DOTA 2

You've never had a team abandon a push that would easily net them the ancient before anyone on your team respawned so they can go get Rosh and farm up another big item or two while you're forced to pretend to care until they finally deign it time to come in and fountain camp the shit out of you with only two out of three rax down and neither of the T4s down so it takes even longer - sometimes ten minutes longer or worse! - than it should for the existing mega creeps to kill the ancient on their own? I wish I could be so lucky. I mean, that's an extreme and a rarity as far as assholes prolonging the game goes, but it happens often enough to make note of it. Not to mention the lesser degrees of that where maybe they will kill all rax and will not go for Rosh but they'll still sit at fountain until the megas take down T4s literally just standing there waiting for you to respawn in the meantime. At least that way it's only a couple minutes at minimum. Unless your team manages to kill them while they fountain camp and then someone pulls the megas into the fountain to save the ancient and wait for the next big push. And of course no matter how nicely you ask them to stop camping and end they don't do it. And sometimes they'll even respond with racist or homophobic slurs. At least I get an easy report out of those situations. I take some minor point of solace in that.
  19. Beyond Good and Evil 2

Half-Life 3 confirmed still in the works! EDIT: WHOA. "Following news overnight that creator Michel Ancel will launch his own independent studio" I am so excited! EDIETETID:: more thoughs I almost don't want this game to come out anymore for fear it'll be structured identically to the Ass Cries and Far Creeds. Ubisoft can do great and interesting things - and I do believe that! - but these days they're most reserved for smaller projects like Rayman and Child of Light and Valiant Hearts. ...Which, to be fair, all come from Ancel's hotbed of creativity, with UbiArt, I believe. So Maybe I should have some faith in BG&E2 (if it happens which it won't). EEEEDDDDIIIITTTT::::: This quote never actually says they're working on a sequel to BG&E2. This rep dances around it with some PR speak voodoo. "Working with the core tenets of BG&E." "Something that aspires to push past the boundaries of a proverbial sequel." I am embracing my cynicism and stating here and now that they are not, in fact, actually working on a sequel.
  20. With Sean and/or Nick babbling incoherently as they are driven further insane.
  21. Movie/TV recommendations

!!! It is definitely the secret best show on TV. You talking about it got me into it. It's so good! I had no idea it was starting tomorrow. I'm stoked.
  22. DOTA 2

It's so much easier to play one-sided board games to the end though because the losers (assuming you're not playing with complete assholes!) can still participate banter-wise, or even go full kingmaker (which is my favorite thing to do in that situation).
  23. Feminism

Yes, I am. And yes he obviously was. I didn't even think we were still talking about that. Thought we were talking about the comic.
  24. Feminism

Mmm, I feel awkward getting into my own personal thought process regarding approaching a relationship with women in the feminism thread, because I am the last person in the world who should probably talk about it, but here we go! I'm not all that interested in "hooking up" with people. When I talk about my fear of being a creep, it is more to do with people I don't know, and the situation varies. I can look at an attractive woman and acknowledge that she is attractive, but I don't do much more than that. For a better example, I'll bring something up I mentioned a while ago in this thread: sometimes I feel weird when I'm just following a woman on the sidewalk. Not like intentionally following, but we're heading in the same direction. Happened a few times when I was living in SF that we'd both be heading in the same direction in the dark on a relatively empty street, and I'm a fast walker, so I catch up to her... And she starts walking faster. I mean, it's common sense to worry about it on her end, but for me it just reinforces that sometimes the things I doing naturally come off as unintentionally threatening. It doesn't help that I am a tall dude. And so it bounces back and I become even more careful. Next time I see it potentially happening, I'll just slow down and let her get ahead of me and hopefully we reach a crosswalk stop at the same time somehow and I can rush ahead after we start walking again. This is just one specific example. But you can pretty easily extrapolate from there to imagine how I think in pretty much any situation that involves a woman. Then when I'm talking about fear of rejection it is just a natural fear of someone turning me down. It's pretty cut and dry. I would never even consider asking someone out or whatever if I didn't already know them pretty well, so fear of creepiness doesn't even come into it. This one isn't really a big deal because I mean everyone suffers that to some extent. It's just a hurdle you gotta get over. I suppose for most people who like to do the random hookup thing, this is different. Then when I'm talking about fear of interaction it is just because I'm so damn shy and people are intimidating, whether it's a big group and I'm alone or I'm with a big group and there's one new person. This one doesn't really have anything to do with women or feminism, but it's just another factor in my ever-present "I don't want to be around people" mindset. Anyway I don't want this to be a "hey let's analyze twig" session, I am just trying to explain my position. I'm sure it's different for everyone, but more importantly I don't think it's fair to just conflate fear-of-rejection with fear-of-being-creepy.
