Who did I email? Oh! That reminds me! I emailed Gabe Newell yesterday.
-
I emailed him about it yesterday! I doubt anything will come of it, but I sure hope so. EDIT: Oh wait I forgot I already posted this in the thread.

Truer words were never spoken.

I like anime and currently have a manga avatar and I still fully support using a "anime avatar" meme to mock people for doing horrible things. But then I love making fun of myself more than anything in the world so what do I know.

Things I liked from this episode: I hate having to put everything in spoiler tags; for some reason, it makes it harder for me to organize my thoughts. ):

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS

I disagree but I don't really know how to argue in my favor so I'm probably wrong but I refuse to admit I'm wrong so there suck it nerd. -
The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS

Given that they almost immediately cancelled it in good faith... I wish they hadn't cancelled it, since it appears to have been in good faith. I dunno, seems kinda dumb to me to get angry over something like this. I know there's a risk of devaluing the art when people Give Away their hard work, or even sell it for less than it should be worth, but ehhhhhhhhhhh I don't know. If what they say is true, that the soundtrack is already complete, blehhhhhhhhhhh. -
Yeah that's all I really wanted, since that's all the really game is, hah.

Ubisoft needs to stop making the same game over and over again
Twig replied to kaputt's topic in Video Gaming
The most striking moment of that for me was when I went from basically marathonning AC:B, AC:R and ACIII and then went to play Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon having never played FC3 (or any FC for that matter, although that's less relevant because pre-FC3 was from before the Great Ubisoft Monotony Movement). They're the same fucking game! Open world, enemy outposts to conquer, random collectible sidequests, mission structure. IT'S ALL THE SAME! Except one is a parkour-'em-up and one if a shooter. It's not like the games are un-fun (in my opinion!), but the fact that it's all the same world structure every time they do an open world game is... KINDA ABSURD YEAH. -
I was annoyed when I wanted to type that legitimately once but then I was more amused than annoyed so I stopped caring.

I'd argue it's more like fucking a *****.

I feel like you miss a million story beats and character cues every time you play these games. And if you want to play a Telltale game that isn't a... "Bad Decision Simulator", as you call it, there's A Wolf Among Us... Another thing that makes them different is how TWD is all about having no control over the situation. AWAU is all about taking control of the situation, regardless of what the universe tells you should be happening. I agree with your general unhappiness with the ending. I don't like it, either. I just feel like you missed a lot of things that would've made it considerably less shitty for you. I especially don't like

It probably does, that sounds accurate anyway, but I've been using it in a sort of, "That's gravy" to mean "That's cool", lately.

Haha fun drama. Ben: I don't think you can just link it outside the forums anymore. Or at least the content will be hidden. That's why we had it moved to the multiplayer subforum, wasn't it? Anyway I guess it's not a huge deal this time around since clearly no one else wants these games. But uh... watters you don't need to make three posts in a row. There's an edit button! Among other things. Here's my updated list. Has some new stuff from the latest Humble Bundle. I've bolded some of my favorites!!! DO NOT BOTHER ASKING FOR ONE IF I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE. YOU KNOW IF I KNOW WHO YOU ARE. A GOOD INDICATION IS IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN FIVE POSTS I WILL NOT EVEN RESPOND TO YOU. Well then he should do it again! I actually remember that now that I'm reading it again. Thanks for reminding me!

Those guys are running some crowd-funding campaign for something called The Sarkeesian Effect, about how she's a scam artist and ruining gaming or some bullshit. I call them Butt Chin and Baldy, respectively. I'm a child. Sue me. Baldy has a rather incredible website. He's apparently a very successful and intelligent man who also unfortunately happens to be a massive piece of shit. He's also a massive piece of shit who also unfortunately happens to be very successful and intelligent. Anyway, his website... It's an excellent target for vitriolic mockery, should you be so inclined. I don't really want to like give him publicity, but basically he spends many hours drinking whisky and smoking cigarettes while pontificating the many ways in which the world is bringing down the white man.

Yeah I watched season two and thought it was okay at best except for the outstanding origin episodes. I've heard season three more than makes up for it. Damnit.

5 seconds is 5 seconds too late, anyway.

Oh it contributed for sure but the Japanese games thing was the trigger. I remember going back to my hotel that night and seeing the sensationalist "articles" on various popular websites and/or blogs "objectively" reporting that Phil Fish told this poor Japanese guy that Japanese games suck. None of them, of course, mentioned the immediate apology and follow-up explanation from all the panelists. Comments filled with accusations of racism, etc. People still call him a racist, though that's probably since been usurped by SJW bullshit. The movie, among other things, was just fuel. And yes, I blame the people who made the movie more than I blame Phil for the particular issue you've identified. I don't like that all at all. (I still think the movie is good and has value, though.)

AC2's family murder is father and brothers, not wife and child. FWIW. Not that that changes the spirit of what you're saying. I agree with you but for gameplay reasons, not story reasons. But also I continue to play and enjoy them so everything is terrible! -
It's a good movie. Phil Fish is, as said, super opinionated and super abrasive. ...Which is why I defend him so much. I can identify with that very, very much. I don't always think about what I'm saying in the heat of the moment. I think I'm better about it than him. But then I know for a fact I would not be able to handle the internet at large basically enacting a campaign against everything that I am. Also just to clarify, I don't think it was the movie specifically that triggered the hate mongering. It was a specific instance at GDC (at which I was present) after a showing of the documentary when all the people in the documentary participated in a Q&A panel afterward. I think it was literally that moment that flipped the switch on the hate brigade. A Japanese man walked up and asked in that oh so humble, oh so polite endearing Japanese manner what the panel thought about Japanese games. It fucking pisses me off every time I think about what people have done to that guy just because he once said "Japanese games suck". AND THEN IMMEDIATELY APOLOGIZED FOR BEING FLIPPANT AND WENT ON TO EXPLAIN HIS POSITION. That's the part no one ever mentions, of course. He's never been perfect - he'll respond to trolls in extremely flamebaity manners at times - but he's always been honest, and it's brutal honesty that enrages the masses when the masses disagree with said honesty. the latest fiasco was, of course, Phil speaking out against what the internet was doing to Zoe Quinn and what they always do to women who speak out against sexism. I'm fairly certain he has legitimate anger management issues, as well. People have said bipolar, but I hesitate to throw any labels around like that because, to be honest, I don't really know what they mean. But the point is I hate the internet what am I doing writing this post, no matter whether or not he has some sort of mental issue, even if he's just a straight up asshole, that doesn't excuse anything that's happened to him. Fuck.
