Almost done with Princess Jellyfish and it remains fantastic. Bonus: I don't think there's a single character that I don't like. Even the one I'm probably supposed to hate is just wacky and over the top sometimes. Love ittttt. EDIT: FINISHED IT. THUMBS UP. Only real complaint with the whole thing is that it sort of ended on... nothing. I mean it was an okay ending, but it left so many things up in the air. Especially with some of the side characters (the brother and the manipulative lady). ANYWAY AS USUAL TEGAN HAS THE BEST TASTE IN BASICALLY ALL THE THINGS Now I'm watching Princess Nine, which was one of those things I found when I was looking into sports anime starring girls. This one is baseball. Kinda old. Kinda. 1998. Sometimes I see Old Anime Art and it's just like man I love this. Thumbs up. Hope the actual everything else is good! EDIT EDIT: Ahaha these high school kids are stomping all over these adults. TOO GOOD. THIS IS SPORTS.

Metal Slug dude, Odin Sphere fairy princess, some Etrian Odyssey class I think.

  5. eReaders - What is everyone's thoughts?

I don't have any other device on which I'd read besides the ereader, so syncing doesn't really matter to me. That said I was looking at the Voyage after making this post and it looks real nice. I think I'm going to just wait for that.
  6. I can actually agree with that. I very recently (as in a couple weeks ago) finally watched all of True Detective, and while it lacks the supernatural characteristics of Twin Peaks, it has that strange tone attached to everything. Plus it's just really good, in my opinion.
  7. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

Now it's time for the Sierra playthrough. Show us how true of a gamer you REALLY are, Zeus! (I'd say the Telltale games are on the whole far easier than classic LucasArts games.)
  8. eReaders - What is everyone's thoughts?

WHOA HELLO! I'm looking to upgrade from my four-ish year old Nook and I'm wondering if anyone has any opinions on the more recent Nook vs Kindle debate. I want one of the light-up ones, so the GlowLight or the Paperwhite. (I don't know if there are non-light-up ones anymore, that's how little I know about this stuff.) Cursory Google searches seem to indicate Kindle is the better choice for everything except dumb DRM restrictions. DRM is the reason I went with Nook last time. But DRM is so easy to remove off books I buy that I can put anything I want on a Kindle at this point.

Fair enough. I suppose I should've mentioned that I was only talking full-time positions. I wouldn't expect contract work to give me health insurance, though not because I think it shouldn't.
  10. Yeah that was announced a while ago, but as of yet has not come to fruition? (Less confident about the second half of that sentence. Don't really follow GOG anymore now that they care less about old games, which was all I want from them.)
  11. I totally forgot that Creepy Dude is introduced this early. God he's just the most disturbing character. Someone pointed out in the episode one thread that he can be seen in the mirror at the end of the episode when Laura's mother is screaming. Ahhh the MOST disturbing.
  12. ugh i went and looked as i'm about to go to bed and ughhhhhh guess i'm having nightmares tonight
  13. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Yeah fair enough. I don't have an emotional or otherwise investment in previous post so whatever.
  14. ...I'm about to stream Dota just because I have it set up and was about to stream Styx before my friend asked me to play Dota and I'm weak and Dota. I suck at Dota. You probably don't want to watch me get mad at how bad I am and blame everyone around me. Anyway here it is. http://www.hitbox.tv/Togglesworlh (This all assumes streaming doesn't murder my ping.) EDIT: I can't get video to work apparently so now I'm gonna try my Twitch to see if that'll work. yeah twitch worked here it is http://www.twitch.tv/togglesworlh (don't watch)
  15. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I read that differently, like he's saying there are more important targets than video games (which, you know, true enough, but also not really relevant). I may be missing context. I can't click the links, though, since you made it an image!!!!! That aside, it sorta reeks of ignorance about what is actually happening, rather than actively embracing the misogynistic butts of gutengat. THAT aside, I remember reading accusations of Julian Assange as a Bad Person - like he's blatantly and actively misogynistic himself? or some worse stuff, I honestly don't remember - but I don't know near enough to actually form an opinion.

Well in this case I thought people were talking more about shitty work environments where you're basically forced to work overtime without bonus pay unless you don't care about losing the job, sorta thing. Most game developers actually do offer health care. (At least, for programmers - I've never applied to / been contacted by any that didn't.)

The weird thing about Heroes is I secretly sorta liked the last few episodes. Not because it was GOOD but it was sorta FUN again. Though I still will forever hate that damn cheerleader whose name I can never remember.

(I actually wouldn't know! I only added those last two words just to be on the safe side in case they did exist elsewhere.)
  21. Movie/TV recommendations

So Misfits is the new Heroes? DISCLAIMER: I hate-watched all of Heroes past the first season, and I'd never heard of Misfits until it was brought up in here just now.
  22. Programming in General

No need except that they're FUN AS HELL! I wrote some shit for my new job that used function pointers and it was the raddest. ...That I later changed it because I thought of a better way is NOT THE POINT.

This is not directly related to gormorgort but I am following Shaun King on Twitter, and have been ever since I saw him talking about Ferguson. He's a staunch defender of Mike Brown and talks a lot about the lies the Ferguson police department have told, among other similar issues and events. He was doxxed on Twitter. He's currently addressing lies people have been spreading about him. https://twitter.com/ShaunKing it's incredible how much garberbabies have in common with killer-cop-defenders when they're both attacking the people who speak against them. I have no doubt he's received a number of death threats. I suppose the only difference is he doesn't receive rape threats. Wouldn't be surprised if people threaten his wife, though. He just specifically addressed how people are looking through and analyzing photos of him and his children (some of whom are temporary foster children) just to identify a "lie" so they can discredit him. Creepy gross ass fucking shit. ETHICS IN JOURNALISM. EDIT: LOL wow people are using his later-than-promised Kickstarter product delivery to attempt to discredit him

Hmm yeah I watched it all in Japanese. I loved Dandy's Japanese VA. Perfect Pompadour Voice.

The music in general is just really good! They wrote a lot of original music with lyrics for the show! It's not just some crappy pop songs licensed for the show. That musical high school episode in particular was... somethin'. Anyway, I'm not sure I completely agree with you re: sci-fi being best suited for the short story format. I've read some really good sci-fi books. H2G2 is five (or apparently six?) books which, some people dislike this or that book in the "trilogy", but I liked them all, and even if I didn't, that's still a lot more than just a short story. The Mote in God's Eye is a very good sci-fi book - though it veers toward hard sci-fi, which I suppose is different from the cheesy sci-fi Space Dandy is going for. But hey whatever. What I really loved about Space Dandy was how all over the place it is. Some of the episodes are completely throwaway, and some are extremely touching. It doesn't really care about the emotional whiplash you'd receive from a binge watch. It's just, like you said, a bunch of wildly different short stories! Thrown into a pot and stirred up until it's all one thing. --- Unrelated, I watched and finished Moshidora and I teared up so that's a thing I guess. I'm surprised at how much I liked it. It is definitely not your typical sports anime - in fact, I'd say the sport is the setting more than it is the genre, in this case. It follows a girl who hates baseball because she learned she couldn't be a professional baseball player, but she ends up being the manager of the high school baseball team to help out a friend. There's lots of potential for failure there, but it ended up being prett dang good, I think. --- I ALSO watched the first episode of Princess Jellyfish before coming into work this morning. I'm in this for the long haul.
