Yeah I have added ZombiU (??) to the list. NSMB Wii U is surprisingly visually attractive. I found the Wii version utterly repulsive, but this actually looks really nice. It's no Super Mario Galaxy, but it'll do! I also bought Mario Kart 8 but have not actually played it yet.

I did play it some more! (I even streamed again, and BigJKO watched me die a lot before leaving without saying a word. Appreciated.) Yo I am really bad at this game, though?? Stealth is required, unless you're super excellent at rhythm/timing, because those guards will rip you apart. I have never played a game where stealth is this mandatory. No, not even Thief! I've always meant to... But yeah it's hard. Also I turned off mission markers early on but quickly realized WOW I need those. I am not a true gamer. In the end, I never actually beat the second level. I do like the game, though. I can feel myself getting better at stealthing, even if I sometimes take stupid risks or get careless. The biggest problem I have, thoguh, is trying to fall off an edge to hang on it. I don't know if there's a trick to it, but if there is, I haven't found it. EDIT: I basically completely agree with that review with the caveat that I still haven't beaten level two so I'm garbage. Also... "you’ll be abusing the quick-save key" THERE'S A QUICK-SAVE KEY?? It's so much like an old console game I just assumed there would only be saves at checkpoints and treated the game as such. I am dumb! Also quick saves will make the game too easy right??

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.
Twig replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Combat in Alan Wake is butt but after a while you get used to it and realize you really don't need to shoot every single dude and you get good at knowing which enemies take how many bullets (there's only a few variations) etc. Not that I blame anyone for giving up. I played to the end of the first chapter (or mayb second?) and almost completely gave up. Came back a month later and picked up from there and then fell in love. I love that game. It sucks that the core gameplay is kindaaaa blah. -
There should be an edit button in the bottom right corner of your posts. I'm not sure how to unhide it. I've never hidden a post before!

Hey, don't put words in my mouth. I never said ANY of this is important! Also teleportation-by-destruction and aging are simply incomparable if you're talking about death. Aging is your own cells reproducing over time. It's something your body is always actively doing. I don't know how you get from that to the idea that you're being completely replaced by a new being at every moment of your life. Those new cells wouldn't exist without the old cells, and it's a gradual thing, not an instant thing, and it's one cell at a time, not all at once. There are so so so so many differences between them. And no, new does not imply new "self" unless you attribute self to body. Which I never said I did. Maybe you do. I mean I guess in a strictly physical sense, there is no "self" without all your neurons firing off in a particular manner, but since you're clearly not talking about that - if you were, there's literally no way you'd be proposing that there is no new self - it's not relevant.
-
Guys. A sense of self has literally nothing to do with this. I don't know what you're talking about. This is just about how you LITERALLY DIE FOREVER PERMANENTLY. It has nothing to do with how the new you feel about it afterward.
-
It's only meaningful to you. Also the dis->reassembly isn't death. That's a temporary lack of consciousness.
-
Your new self would maintain that illusion, of course. But you'd be dead.
-
It's so completely obvious to me I have no idea how to explain it besides just saying it like I have been. There's literally no other way to interpret it. If a teleporter is putting bits and bobs together to recreate your everything, but in the process destroys the original you, then the new you isn't you. Because the old you is dead. That's literally all there is to it. You're making a clone of yourself and then committing suicide. Or the other way around, I guess, since I doubt you'd survive until the end of the process. I don't know how else to explain it because it is something that doesn't need explaining! Maybe the problem is that I'm talking about the physical you and you're talking about some other measurement of you. But that's not the issue here, because it's the physical you that's dying. Hence why the lack of existence of a soul matters. Unless of course there is a soul and it is also destroyed in the process. OR there is a soul and the process forever destroys the link between body and soul. Obviously, for all intents and purposes, you would still be the same person to everyone else. But it's not about outward appearances. The moment you go through this process, you are cutting off your consciousness and creating a brand new one that, while identical to you, is not you. Because you are destroyed. I guess I could rephrase the same thing over and over for days but I don't see the point.

Idle Thumbs 179: Shadow of Something
Twig replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Well they tried it with Stargate and it failed to capture an audience (despite, in my opinion, not being all that bad... not that it was great... it certainly wasn't another BSG). Granted, Stargate is not Star Trek, but they're both incredibly long-running series/franchises. -
Yes, you are correct.

I'm sure this has been linked before (I know I saw something from this guy somewhere and it was probably from here) but this Storify is pretty good coverage of how gubbergump is just a new name for what's already existed for a long time. https://storify.com/a_man_in_black/gamergate-is-a-misogy

all of them!!!!
-
You're you until you replace your brain. EASY. NEXT QUESTION.
-
But that's the problem. It'd be ANOTHER you. It wouldn't be You. Unless you believe in something like a soul (which who does these days am I right), then the moment You teleport by way of destroying your body and reconstructing it on the other side is the moment You die. The other you is not You. It doesn't matter if the other you has all of your memories and experiences. It's not you. It is, from that point on, a completely different person. It would be the same as making a clone, except the process involves killing the original You.

I HAVE A WEE WOO what games should i get huh (my nnid is togglesworlh)

I don't think you have to assume that. Otherwise it wouldn't be popular. Of course, you, or that guy, or that lady might be an exception and actually have an issue with CoD, but it's pretty obvious people into these kinds of games... don't. The CoD crowd is probably mostly the same as the Halo crowd (I would believe, and here I am making an assumption, of course) and I doubt you'd find many people in there who think CoD is more objectionable than Halo. It remains to be seen whether this will have the same reception. I think it won't. Although... I suspect the genre - top-down shooter - will be a bigger hindrance to its popularity than anything else.

The IndieGoGo is Frog Fractions 2.

That's just how he is when he doesn't like something. It's an, um, acquired taste?

You say that but I would really probably be just as dumb as those idiots who rack up huge viewerships. ): I rarely have anything insightful to say about video games on a moment to moment basis. Everything I said today (which wasn't recorded because I actually am an idiot) was just making fun of the dumb story and laughing at my own deaths.
