Ken Levine & Shawn Elliott interview Todd Howard from Bethesda.http://irrationalgames.com/insider/irrational-interviews-pilot/
Apparently a pilot episode for a series of informal talks with game designers. This first one is really good, so I hope they continue doing more.
Thanks for this man. I started listening to it earlier today and although the rim-licking was a little off-putting at times, it soon settled down and became a really fascinating, very well done show.

I thought about picking it up, but I've already bought a fair few other games, and I think L4D/2 will have to satisfy my Zombie multiplayer needs.
-
Flames before games man. Always.
-
Yes. It's very good too.Because Civ III doesn't have one at all and I basically wanted to cry when I played that game.
-
Right Thumbs, to any of you who own Civ IV - is there a tutorial mode of any kind? I'll buy it if there is, and I won't if there isn't.
Thanks guys.

As usual with the STEAM sales, I'm waiting for the last day to tick around, and then buy everything I want to then. Just in case. You never know.
Either way, I'm definetely buying the THQ pack and Broken Sword 2/3 later today.

I also got my deluxe TOMI DVD about a week and a half ago... and if my eyes aren't deceiving me, the box is totally lacking the magic touch of Jake Rodkin. It's just so very ugly, even the Purcell bits. The manual looked nice, though.
*Jakes reads that post*
"B-b-but, I designed that boxart /cry"

I didn't mind the endless loops this time, mainly because there weren't long unskippable sections between each gameplay bit and because the dialogue options leading to puzzle success were generally well-signposted. Because of that, I was able to try out all the other options first just to see what they did. This was actually the first Telltale game that I haven't gotten stuck and had to refer to a walkthrough. Interesting puzzles and a good few laughs, so thumbs up for 303.
I'm actually very proud of myself, in that...
Damnit. I was going to say that I haven't referred to a guide at all, but then I realised I did for the boss battle at the end of 302.
Apart from that though, I'm proud of myself.

I'll definetely pick it up as soon as it hits Steam. Love me some Layton, love me some TTG... What's not to love?

Haha, that letter did make me laugh.
Admittedly, I very rarely (if ever) put my phone to my ear anymore. I'm one of those douches who has his earphones in all the time, and uses the voice recognition built into the earphones to call people. Much easier for me, as I tend to be on the move when talking to people.

I finally go around to beating episode 2 when I saw that ep. 3 had showed up.I got stuck for a bit in a way that I didn't with episode 1, but with some persistence muddled my through it. There are hints for things that seem obvious in retrospect, but are really not so obvious at all when you don't already know the solution. For instance,
the part in the train where the mole girl announces to her dad that she's leaving her compartment which is your cue to hide before she comes out
.
I don't know, I thought that one was pretty obvious, but I guess I got stuck on some other incredibly simple puzzles earlier, so I know exactly what you mean.

I actually enjoyed both a fair amount, although I began to get bored of "NYYYYYYYYYYYYYYGH" in the second episode.

That's the thing I found difficult about Civ III. It's just like;
Choose your Civ
Go.

I don't know if approachable is the word to use, if you're waiting for a more streamlined experience, Civ V is in September. Civ IV is a lot like Civ III and Civ II, so if you were lost on those ones, you may be confused by it. However with colonization thrown into that pack, you might get a bit more context, as colonization was the original game that lead to Civilization, and it being remade in the Civ IV engine was a neat idea. Also, Flotilla for $2.50
Essentially, I want some sort of mode where it says "Ok. Step 1: Click this button and then this happens. Step 2: Now you've done that, you should do this"
Plus, honestly, I'm tight. £6odd for Civ IV is better than £30 for Civ V. I don't mind intricacy, but I'm stupid and need handholding
-
Civ IV is now on sale - would people recommend it? Is it easy to get into? I bought Civ III recently and although I've tried playing it, without any form of apparent tutorial I'm just too confused - is Civ IV a little more user friendly?

It kinda sounds like...

Haven't played my PS3 in a while, but add me and we can play Burnout Paradise. Best game on PSN by a long shout.

My wrist hurts.
What's wrong with me? GOOGO.
Seriously though, congratulations. A good friend of mine is looking to become a doctor, and I have absolutely no idea why. The amount of work seems an impossible task. Well done buddy.

Farcry 2 for under 14 bucks. Trine for $4. They should call it the Idle thumbs pack.Don't forget Dawn of War II.

I have to say, the last segment made me squirm a little.
Still a fantastic show though.

Yeah, I pretty much cried when I saw Chris's tweet.
Or rather, my wallet did.

Life
in Idle Banter
The worst I've seen in the past were the obese old men wearing tight orange bikinis. Yowser.
Still, I don't mind the ladies wearing the same costume. Just not the men.

A better book is 'The Myth of... Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus".
Written by a linguist (I believe), it takes a much more analytical approach to the things discussed, and is apparently a very good read. I haven't read it myself, but this year's English Language course dictates I shall - so I'll let you know then!
