The way I'd frame it (which I think is what Chris is saying as well) is that they want to maintain historical accuracy as much as possible, but their intertwined fiction can be as insane as they choose.

Sounds kinda like Prison Break to me. Season 1 was the strongest, with Season 2 mostly being cool too; then 3 and 4 are just completely different, both tonally and narratively.

Die Hard and It's A Wonderful Life are my two favourite Christmas films actually.

Absolutely love it. I think it was Ken Levine who mentioned it was also one of his favourites, mostly due to the fact that - although it's a Christmas film - it's actually really goddamn dark.
