Yeah, this is what I'm trying to figure out. Are we literally just performing the TV show on stage, or are we performing the script? Two different, difficult things
-
So I decided to keep all three roles. It's going to be incredibly difficult, but I'd hate to look back and think 'Oh man if only I took that opportunity'. I think playing Meriwether in GiD should hopefully show off my acting ability to potential future casting crews, and Lysander should be a laugh. And, well, Flashheart should be a doddle if I go OTT enough.

Yeah, at least in the pre-discussion. Podcasts can be listened to whenever, don't forget. Plus, you go in knowing there'll be spoilers. Here, you might just want a general book's feel before you start it and then listen to the show.

Aye, I far prefer straight roles too. I'd feel uncomfortable attempting a Puck. Gilbert is Dead is a relatively new play that, imo, looks and sounds really interesting. There's little information about it online, but here's a Guardian review http://www.guardian.co.uk/stage/2009/nov/06/gilbert-is-dead-review ANYWAY CHAPS. ENOUGH FROM ME. I'VE GOT TO GO SHAG SOMETHING. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOF. (and if anyone is super confused by the flashheart, here is what we are referring to )

I do indeed. Blackadder is the known quantity, that's easy to blag. It's the other two I'm worried about!

Holy shit. So I recently got into acting as a thing, and figured I'd try out for a couple plays this final term. I've just been cast in three, and I should really probably drop one but I don't know which and aaaargh. (One of them is literally a three minute role so I don't have to worry too much. Black adder II / Lord Flashheart Gilbert is Dead / Bartholemew Meriwether A Midsummer Night's Dream / Lysander) I mean, before auditioning I was gagging for GiD, and somehow I got it. I wasn't too interested in MND, but the final recall was a bunch of fun - turns out I do actually still really love Shakespeare, and fuck I get to say The course of true love never did run smooth - so I really don't know what to do. I could theoretically do all 3...

go back and look at his posts. whiney fucker

I'VE DONE IT BEFORE. I try to keep to a better work habit. Really, I do. Then this shit just ends up happening, and I end up somehow getting good grades and so I've never really learned.

You know those nights where you stay up all night in the vain hope that you'll finish (or at least come close to finishing) a vital piece of work for your degree? Do you also know what it's like to come nowhere near that goal? Cool. I do.

I genuinely find that I am far unhappier with myself when indulging than when sticking to some rough form of healthy-ish eating plan. Ill be walking home, grab a kebab, and instantly regret it.
-
Ah, well thank you! And yeah, I think the whole 'labels' discussion is super interesting, especially as I see them as pretty crucial to perception, and he sees them as largely inconsequential.
-
ahahahahaha Thank You. For my next trick, I shall reveal why exactly it is that the name Chris Gunga Galunga Remo never stuck. -- On a serious note though: Steve is the best. I think the chemistry comes across well, and he's an incredible radio personality. Intelligent and well-spoken, super easy to ask vague-questions to, and receive definitive answers for.

Fake names are the best. Also: Famous has begun with a bold opening move, swiftly retaliated by Broadcast Jones. This looks interesting... (Although, tbh, I think being hostile this early on is a little silly. HEY THAT'S NEPTUNE'S PRIDE!!)

Idle Thumbs 103: A Person-Shaped Thing is a Person
pabosher replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Yeah. It's not a huge focus of the magazine or paper, but it's always covered. Example: pretty much every year when Nintendo's secret conference trick was revealed that morning by the Wall Street Journal. -

This is exactly what I was thinking. As far as I see it, the press conferences aren't /really/ for the 'gaming press' like IGN, Kotaku, Gamespot, etc. It's for the general mass media entertainment magazines and news outlets. Not advertising to them is weird to me. -
Wanna place a bet on that, Captain Confident?

7/8 of these are really good.

Hey woah this is the name idea I had months ago. I think it opens up some good marketing avenues considering the whole Windows 8 thing.
-
Oh hey the game has started!
-
So, GDC is coming up soon. I am excited, because I have applied to be (and been accepted as) a Conference Associate/Volunteer. Are any of you guys going? What do you anticipate from this year's GDC? New console stuff? The new Bungie game Destiny? Nels Anderson's talk about Mark of the Ninja? Here is a thread to discuss all those things; and, while you're at it, suggest crazy things for me to do in San Francisco (and where to eat).
-
As a sort of special pre-release (the episode will officially be going live next month), I figured you Thumbs might like this episode of my show, recorded at GDC, where I spoke with Steve about stuff. Including chat on gone home, game design, and labelling theory! Check it. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/45811403/DR0000_0093.mp3 Oh, and please don't post it outside the forum. When it eventually goes live proper, I would like my stats to be relatively consistent/stable.

This game is free for PS+ subscribers next month (of which I am one) so look out for that! (I am!)
-
Well here's the perfect excuse.
-
You're not the only one, but I think for many (including myself) its difficulty was part of its charm.

That's a really good point, actually. I'm pretty sure LA is a direct sequel to ALTTP.
