Windows 10: "It wouldn't be right to call it Windows 9."
Justin Leego replied to Urthman's topic in Idle Banter
I think I might take this opportunity to upgrade my dual boot Ubuntu 12 to Ubuntu 14 and transition over to that. Like Windows 10 is (for the moment), it's free, I don't feel that its parent organization needs to aggressively exploit my data as part of its business plan, the PlayOnLinux application can deal with most Windows games I would want it to, and Ubuntu itself can do everything else that I'd need. I'll keep a gradually reduced Windows partition for anything else. The major hurdle is redownloading games in Linux form which is going to take an age on my connection. Are there any massive flaws with that approach that I'm overlooking? Better to know now... -
The Kotor 2 patch also has Steam Workshop support (mods!!!!)

Yessss tegan!!! I'd seen the original post and thought Hmm, I wonder if those ratios have been independently verified.

Jiff, gib and Snes sounds about right.

Weirdly, Psyonix is also the named dev on Nosgoth. That Legacy of Kain multiplayer spinoff. It's objective based racing in that your objective might be to join a race of vampires?

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS
Justin Leego replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
But so soon after Mighty Number 9? -
Our new director was genuinely distressed when he found out about the way that big changes were being communicated to the workforce. Apparently the entire deptartment was to be shut down in September and everyone was being given (slightly) less than a minimum notice period with otherwise no warning beforehand. The message was being distributed through green 'fortune cookie'-style slips inside unsealed envelopes. Contrary to the manager's response, I felt elated and relieved. I'd never have to work there again and would receive state support, the backing of a nation, in dedicating myself to finding a new job. I visited my parents' home to share the good news and started decorating the exterior brickwork like so many Minecraft blocks. Then I woke up. It was all a happy dream. ...it's probably time to find a more appropriate employment.

You so birthday right now!
-
Yeah. It sounds a lot like there might be a good dose of accumulated sleep dep in there.

Ooh! I'd be up for playing Left 4 Dead 2 with you and any other L4D2-backloggers, whenever you get to it. , Also, also, how about a Thumb Fortress 2 night as a way of crossing that off your list? What with last week's big Gun Mettle update it'd be a good time to check it out.
-
I was gonna ask, how is your sleep?
-
Nuclear Throne: Oh! I accidentally ate my gun.

The PS4 version was announced for September, so maybe sometime around then if everything stays on track? (edit: yes, this is a late reply to Griddle) -
What's the occasion, are you cycling the country or something? Asked around and had The Green Room on Cannon Street recommended. Real name is La Salle Verte, but it's not in France so the locals have translated it. Good teas, cakes and sandwiches, wine bar in the evening. If you don't mind being into that.

Come on guys, it's not even above core body temperature.

Out of all of that, what surprised me most was the theory's third pillar:
-
Oh gosh. Quite the scoop.

Hurray! Many happy returns to you, AC. Do you have any birthday plans or are you just going to go CRAYCRAY with the impromptu celebrations?
-
Can you supply us with a choice quote from the Lhubbardcast please?
-
I looked this up in a hurry but I don't think my eyes can handle it.

At some point they have to trust in their past selves having raised you well enough to make good decisions. Are you moving to Davis / Sacramento?

HITMAN is in fact a next generation PETMAN simulator.

It would be nicer for carebears like me if it wasn't a game about killing people in prominent world cities.

I don't know, I guess I'm a little hesitant to expect pertinent insight from a retail company (whose data is there to remind consumers to make pre-orders) and a marketing consultancy (whose data is there to remind retailers to order industry reports). Is Fallout 4 not there because it was announced before E3 (in which case, Doom 4 was hardly an unknown), or because it's not in demand despite releasing soon? The pie chart as a whole represents 20% of overall E3 chatter so maybe we could just as easily conclude that 80% of surveyed don't care about hardware platforms. To stretch a point. But yeah maybe Nintendo should consider a Wii 2 or something. It's about time.

Yeah. It's not like there are other significant factors that would serve to minimize risk on succesful projects rather than magnify it or anything.
