  1. ObjectiveGameReviews.com - A Subtle Journey of Discovery

Holy shit. I had seen the site going around Twitter, but I never realized it was born from the IT forums. This makes me so objectively happy.
  2. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

It was a real question because in your post before I received the impression that you didn't understand that. It was not asked in a spirit of patronization and I apologize if it came off that way.
  3. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Yes, Twig. But do you understand why the same criticism would be leveled even if the situations were changed? As I'm writing this, osmosisch posted this, which is what I'm getting at:
  4. Artists

Ah. Posted part of this on the 'Amateur Game Making Night' thread, but this seems the proper place to put it. I make music and would enjoy making some for your game. Here's my SoundCloud so you can get a sample of what I do: https://soundcloud.com/xarhini Currently have a lot of time on my hands, so don't be afraid to ask!
  5. Amateur Game Making Night

I picked up GameMaker when it was free a couple months ago, and I've been interested in creating a rhythm RPG and pinball adventure game. Seeing you guys make your stuff is inspiring. Also: The art looks incredible. Gives me the impression of a desert sci-fi thing. Keep it up b/c I'd love to see how this turns out.
  6. Tone Control 7: Brendon Chung!

Jumped in to say that I've been really liking these episodes. This one and the one with Randy Smith were particularly enjoyable. As Wikipedia Brown said, I'm also a nerd for continuity stuff, so when Gaynor was laying down all the connections I was way more pumped than I probably should be about a goofy thing. Keep up the great work, Steve!
  7. I don't know where, but I've seen this video before and it has stuck with me. It's this exact one that I think of when I hear the word "ragequitting" (including during this episode) b/c the poor guy looks like he has genuine anger issues. Anywho, hope that dude figured his shit out.
  8. Tone Control is a Podcast!

Burn I'm not even sure what qualifies as an 'artgame' (one that assumes a person is familiar with the grammar of games, perhaps?) but I think a great first game that works is Merritt Kopas' Hugpunx.
  9. Half-Life 3

    We do.
  10. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

Any word on if the Gog version of the game will get the daily challenges? Noticed that it's half off there, but it was this daily challenge stuff that sort of pushed me into wanting to buy it in the first place and I wouldn't want to miss out on that.
  11. It reminded me of episode 55's title "His Cyborg Familiar." Which I just saw and realized it was over 2 years ago. How time flies.
  12. Neat! Excited to see what comes out of these guys.
  13. Was Sean the person Brad Shoemaker was referring to in a recent Bombcast? Gian Bomb guys stealing from Idle Thumbs again!
  14. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

"There are voice clips of girls but the house has no mirrors so you never know who you are playing as. I'm assuming a pissed off burglar who is so annoyed that he's broken into a house filled with nothing by VHS tapes and diaries that he decides he's going to steal items of sentimental value as revenge."- Witch Sniffer Oh, Youtube comments. These guys' is pretty good. It's as if Dave Hills worked for EGM in the nineties.
  15. I believe you mean: Tales of Game’s Studios Presents Chef Boyardee’s Barkley, Shut Up & Jam: Gaiden, Chapter 1 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa.
  16. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Fair point. It was more the manner in which she was complaining about it that I found amusing.
  17. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Some Metacritic user review highlights: Backdatassup opines: "Who ever thought trying to experience someone else's memories by rummaging through their stuff would be a good idea clearly doesn't understand simple psychology, let alone what makes a good video game." Ultach declares: "Arguably, a book has more interactivity and skill involved, since you need to possess the motor skills necessary to turn the pages." Pekuken suggests: "As a visual novel, it's more of a thing." Kicka55 breaks it down with: "Main plot of this "game" is basically about you returning home and finding out that your lil sis is now into girls and ran away from home to fight the patriarchy." Vyvyan challenges us with this question: "You can buy 2 books for the price of this game and which has more value?" Account33 draws the line with: "If you want to tell a story or make a statement, go write a book or a screenplay or something. Video games are not about narrative exposition. Absolutely disgusting." Edit: Had to add this one: ThomYorke shines light on Fullbright's nefarious intentions: "An awful game with a boring story, no challenge or objective and to top it off it's £/$20. But don't worry, it all goes to funding death camps for straight, white, cis men."
  18. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Ha. I've been reading the #gonehome hashtag on Twitter and seeing some similar stuff. CliffyB's sister is complaining about mouse acceleration.
  19. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Damn. Everything just keeps coming back to that. For the voyeuristic (well, the more voyeuristic, I guess):
  20. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

A chilling idea, but not an impossible one. I hadn't thought of connecting it like this, thanks. On a related note, anyone have any ideas what this is about: Finished the game a couple hours ago, and while I loved execution, I didn't find Sam's story line interesting. I really liked little details about it, but I found myself thinking more about the parents and Uncle Oscar. Specifically, I wish I knew more about the mom. This may all be due to the fact that I found myself relating more to Daniel than anyone else (ha!). That being said, I'm really glad someone covered a story like Sam's. Cheers to the team. Excited to see what their next project is. As some of you have already covered a lot of the little details I liked, I'd like to mention this one:
  21. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Haven't picked it up yet, but I'm curious if there's a "best place" to do so. I was going to buy directly from Fullbright, but I saw someone mention that it might be worth buying on Steam as it would give them visibility there. Recommendations? Right as the dude is raising his hand there's a couple of flashes of light on the desk to his left. Ghost: Confirmed.
  22. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

This was used as the header image for the game's release date announcement over at RPS. Does the "Unknown Dimension" contain ghosts? I think we all know the answer to that one. Note: I may be missing some late 80s/mid-90s reference here with this image (maybe some fanzine thing?). Apologies to old people if this is the case. No apologies for ghost speculation.
  23. Dishonored - or - GIFs By Breckon

Caught this piece on Unwinnable and immediately thought of Idle Thumbs when I read it. It's a piece of fiction written from the P.O.V. of an inspector investigating the actions of Corvo, but recognizing the player's actions as Corvo.
  24. BioShock Infinite

    Hey, I remember that vocalist:
