I love this game already. It's like a gradually unfolding space clusterfuck at all times. And then there are the times when it unfolds quickly and everyone eats it. I've tried to get into Dwarf Fortress so many times, but could never get over the hump. I'm already having tons of fun in Spacebase.

I liked the first episode a lot. Steve, you are a great interviewer! It was cool to hear in detail about some aspects of the development of The Walking Dead. It's funny that I've listened to Jake and Sean talk about games so much on Idle Thumbs without getting into much nitty gritty about their own project. (Though I understand the hesitation to spend too much airtime on it; it would probably make them feel gross, and it's not really what the show is for.)

You guys may well be correct; I haven't been following the news at all. I was just going off of a very conservative tweet reading.

That just sounds like they mean you'll have the rights to anything you bought on the PSN, which is no surprise, since that's how it already works across systems. Like, if you bought a movie on the PS3, you can watch it on the PS4, like, obviously. This doesn't necessarily mean anything with regard to backward compatibility, which is what you're talking about. At least that's as far as I'd go based on the wording of that tweet.

I'm fumbling my way through the early stages of this game having no experience with Pokemon outside of Smash Bros. It seems fairly interesting so far, if a bit weird. I'm intrigued by the seemingly ubiquitous connectivity features, but I wonder this: am I inflicting the juvenile name I chose for my trainer on random passersby and other Internet users? I'm sure not everyone finds it as hilarious as I do to have a young boy running around with the name "Butthole."

Good gravy, so into it. It's such weird timing that it came to Steam 5 days apart from Startopia.

The title of this thread still grosses me out, but I made a simple little tune last night after receiving some new music equipment! https://soundcloud.com/eotf-seork/day-1-volca-jam-i-mean-volca It's all done with the 3 little guys in the middle of the picture, which are two analog synths (one polyphonic with a delay effect, the other a bassline mono with 3 parts) and a drum machine. Whenever I get my paws on a new thing like that, I always try make a little ditty right away instead of getting too caught up twiddling around, and I like the way this one came out.

I love this, though playing it in the Rift will make my stomach churn when things get hectic. Whoo!

So that "Alone" thing is basically what they were talking about on Idle Thumbs where J Allard shows up in your living room. At least I think that was a segment recently. Downloading now.

My reputation is intact! I'm glad it worked. Have you had a chance to play much since then? If so, any noticeable improvement?

In my experience, saves are compatible across disc and download versions of games on the PS3. I'm not 100% sure it'll work in this case, so I don't want to put my awesome reputation on the line or anything. But I've totally downloaded psn versions of games I already had on disc (usually because it came up as a freebie on PS+) and was able to pick up where I left off. They don't seem to be treated as separate titles when it comes to game data.

I haven't listened yet, but based on the description, I think it's worth posting this Burn:Cycle promo for everyone's enjoyment: I got stuck pretty early on not knowing what I was supposed to be doing. -

I bought a copy of this when it came out, but haven't played it or even really perused the rules yet. I have a bad habit of accumulating things like board games that way. I guess I should check it out! I'm a little sad that it's no longer set in the world of Cyberpunk 2020. Speaking of the past, old Netrunner had great (and sometimes crazy) art: It's all so very... cyber.

Nifty. I was already holding out, because it seems like such an obvious thing to do, right? I mean, even if the game in its current state is really well-optimized for the PS3 and 360, an open world physicsy game with tons of entities running around will benefit so neatly and immediately from the additional resources of the newer hardware. GTA IV on my current PC is a very different experience than it was at release on any platform.

Jumping across a gap and mantling up the far side in a cave gave me a serious Thief vibe (particularly the Lost City). I'm definitely interested in this.

It has the potential to be very cool if it's implemented well. That's a pretty big if. I don't think anyone on this earth will ever get that excited about Killzone, but it could be cool for games that breed serious competition. I think the video does a good job of showing the potential; at least it shows me what my life would be like if I were a hip Japanese student with a bunch of attractive, cool, video game-obsessed friends.

I like the sound of the Vita TV. I also like the "enjoying content" faces in the video!

Idle Thumbs 119: You, Fisher
Salacious Snake replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Catching up on things after a long trip, so I apologize for bringing up a part of the discussion from way back in the thread, but if you want to try a Streetesque Fighter with simplified controls, there's always Capcom vs SNK 2: EO. The EO is for "Easy Operation," which is both a Guile victory bark and a mode of control which maps a bunch of stuff to pushing the right stick in various directions. I never messed with it enough to get a feel for how things play out, but CvS2 is a radical as hell game that everyone should play anyway. -

I'll never completely have my fill of shoving people down staircases in GTA IV. The stumbly physics-based "Euphoria" stuff is so good. I kept wishing the Saints Row games had something comparable. Insurance Fraud would be a lot funnier to me if it did; plain old ragdolls don't cut it anymore. -

To be fair, the marketing for that game was pretty much non-stop dildos. I agree that there's some better humor in the game, but if you haven't played it, then you only have so much to go on. I think it's weird that people are reacting so strongly to Chris not being interested in a game or series of games (I actually typed Christ for a second). It's not like he's even saying they're bad. Like, I'm sure there are plenty of good sports games out there, but I wouldn't know, nor do I think it would greatly enrich my life to form an opinion about them. -

This just prompted me to see what's cooking on my Sportsfriends page on the humble bundle site. So many great games I forgot about! I need to set up a Sportsfriends party soon. -

The Europa Universalis IV demo is out on Steam, which I think may be of interest to people in this thread. http://store.steampowered.com/app/236850/
