Looks like a shadow cast by the camera flash.

Damn it. If there were an option for a static load screen instead of the seamless 3D skyranger transitions, I'm sure my laptop would be a lot happier. The way they did it is cool in theory, but it takes so ridiculously long. Thanks to the current state of the game, I've stopped playing entirely, and I'm not going back until some patching happens. Maybe I should see if I can get a refund in the meantime, in case they never sort it out.

Just had a couple of fun games with Wooben. Seeing a new thumb who wants to play is just what I needed to get back into this cool game. I'm noticing a lot of little improvements since I last played, too.

The games that made you buy the system
Salacious Snake replied to dartmonkey's topic in Video Gaming
A big one for me was the Nuon (Samsung extiva), which I got solely for Tempest 3000. It was a game by a favorite developer that was exclusive to an obscure, stupid system. No regrets. -
Episode 342: Satellite Reign
Salacious Snake replied to Rob Zacny's topic in Three Moves Ahead Episodes
I'm excited to listen! I'm an old Syndicate fan (mostly played the Atari Jaguar version; that 10-key pad actually made it play pretty efficiently as a console game), and I backed the kickstarter for Satellite Reign, but it just keeps wallowing in my backlog. Also, I have kind of a podcrush on Austin Walker. -

SFIV3D is a weirdly good port. I still don't find the cramped controls of a handheld to be adequate for a fighter*, but that's not Capcom's fault. *unless we're taking about the Neo Geo Pocket.

BattleZone (1998), Sacrifice, & other hybrids
Salacious Snake replied to 04048's topic in Strategy Game Discussion
Golgotha from Crack dot Com had a promising demo before its development stopped! It was a pretty typical RTS, but you had a big tank that you could take direct control of to go bust some heads. edit: oh my god, this music. -
This game nauseates me. I don't know if it's the FOV or the turning acceleration or what, but I basically want to hurl. I'm not usually that susceptible to simulation sickness, but sometimes a game gets it just right.

That's true, and it's annoying. I understand wanting to prevent plagiarism, but I would love to be able to collaborate with someone by passing a level back and forth. I made some changes to a friend's level that I think he'd appreciate, but I can't send it back to him.

Do yourself a favor and play it with a guide. It's inscrutable in a totally un-fun way.

Idle Thumbs 244: Heroes vs Villains
Salacious Snake replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I'm so glad that Nick discovered the pleasures of Spintires. It's a brilliant simulation/game. It shines even more brightly in multiplayer; when you help each other through the mud, there's a major sense of cooperation. More moving vehicles on the trail also amplifies the already significant comedy of errors element. Also, Bushido Blade is baller as fuck. -
I'm going to keep spamming this thread. The aforementioned poodles have been shorn:

Idle Thumbs 244: Heroes vs Villains
Salacious Snake replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
In high school, my friends and I would go on the Internet Gaming Zone and join games of Bridge, which must have been super frustrating for the poor saps with whom we were paired, since we didn't know (or care) how to play at all. We'd just click on everything until something happened. -

Metal Gear Solid 4 - Guns of the Saucer Men From Mars
Salacious Snake replied to Cigol's topic in Video Gaming
For me, Sons of Liberty and Guns of the Patriots are the best of the series. There's so much stuff that makes Metal Gear Metal Gear, and it's not surprising that fans are divided; it depends on what about the series speaks to you. 4 was the first that I actually completed, and I liked it so much that I finally understood the series and went back to all the others (MSX entries included). I think it stands on its own. I'm sure the order of play impacts one's expectations. -
I put together a Sopwith Camel a few years ago. It was my first adult lego experience, and I really enjoyed it! Seeing this thread pop back up has prompted me to see what's out there now... Not that I have the space to put something together in this tiny apartment.

A Dedicated Thread For Talking About Star Trek Episodes
Salacious Snake replied to BigJKO's topic in Movies & Television
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised if you watch DS9. The cast is great, and their characters grow in unexpected ways. The TNG movies, on the other hand: woof. -
Aw man, Warhammer Online had so much good stuff in it. What a shame. I've always been partial to flying carpets whenever they appear in games.
