  1. Rimworld

I think separating an artist from their work is a legitimate stance to take. I mean personally, I wouldn't do it in the case of Rimworld, but I think it is definitely more excusable in the case of Carver for a number of reasons. One, alcoholism is an affliction and not necessarily volitional. Two, Carver is dead. Three, alcoholism and domestic abuse are probably not the kinds of things that Carver would use the platform afforded by his success to advocate for even if he were alive. Which seems to be less the case with something like supporting Gamer Gate.
  2. Ditto, I also was around for the original podcast run (but not the text-only site prior to it)...and it would have been one of the 1up podcasts (though not retronauts as that one never really clicked with me) that got me to thumbs.
  3. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

I think Hitman people have watched/retweeted Steve's streams of him playing it. That might be all there is to it.
  4. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

so apparently this is a thing
  5. so this is supposedly a working time offset link for the dungeon world section but it's not really working (the time offset that is) on mobile for me: https://www.twitch.tv/waypoint/v/97901232?t=92482s if it fails, dungeon world starts at around 25:41:00
  6. yup been dipping in and out of the livestream. it's been pretty fun. That Dungeon World session was just about the best thing ever. Can't wait until the archive/VOD is up to start pointing people at it.
  7. iOS Gaming

...and Rogue done. Monk is pretty sweet so far. Not sure I need the shield bash with that deck exclusive stun.
  8. iOS Gaming

Some thoughts on solitairica: I've managed wins with the first three character classes so far, but the Rogue is messing with me. I think the spells available in the shop at any given time might be different based on character class? which is a problem because I leaned on the shield bash a lot for the first 3 characters but it hasn't shown up for me as rogue. Anyways, shield bash is real good. There's one enemy who reflects the stun back at you, but against everyone else, it is super useful. edit: turns out you do get access to shield bash with rogue, but anecdotally, at least, it shows up later than with the other 3 classes. I haven't played that many rounds, so it could be just rng and confirmation bias. The x-ray glasses (see 2 cards deep in every stack for 80 gold, I think) if/when they show up are SO key. Every win I have has been with that thing. There's a spell that does the same thing, but its not the same as having it always on. Knowing what's in the card behind plus judicious use of a spell that destroys a single targeted card (to access the one behind) lets you rack up huge coin bonuses for long chains which in turn means you can afford the extra life crystals. Which is important because you absolutely can just get screwed over by RNG. I have died and then without changing my loadout at all strolled through the same fight with full health. Another good spell (also for its ability to perpetuate chains) is the agility one (forget the name of it) that changes the cards to the left and right of the card you target to the cards immediately preceding and following it. Lastly, due to poison effects that ignore armour, and certain enemy abilities that specifically target and destroy armour, health is much more useful than armour imo if you're deciding between them for what passive boost item to pick up. Shop availability can mean you don't always have a choice though.

ditto klocki is good. it's a bit short, but that's not a dig on the value proposition because heck it's one freaking dollar. if you want some fantasy rpg trappings in your solitaire, solitairica is pretty good btw: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/solitairica/id970202342?mt=8
  11. Hello, let the record show I was both a kickstarter backer and got the curtain reference.
  12. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

I see myself playing it almost exclusively as a handheld, but this could well be the first nintendo thing I pick up since the 3ds.

  16. Virginia - Strange and Confounding

I had only been peripherally aware if this but didn't know earlier that it had no dialogue which is intriguing.
  17. One thing I will say about this game is that on ps4 the load times are I can neither confirm nor deny that I may encounter them more frequently than most due to save scumming hacking attempts.
  18. The Fast and the Furious series

I agree, Fast Five is definitely the best one.
  19. Movie/TV recommendations

I saw In Order of Disappearance recently and liked it. It's a very kind of straight forward revenge story, with a dash of dark comedy thrown in.
  20. Hearing you guys talk about thimbleweed park, it brings to mind puzzle agent? is that a fair comparison in terms of tone?
  21. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Mike Paradinas/µ-Ziq does a 1 hour continuous mix of Aphex Twin (consisting of, I think, largely pre-Come to Daddy material): http://thevinylfactory.com/vinyl-factory-releases/vf-mix-63-aphex-twin-by-%C2%B5-ziq/
