oh yay another person who liked Limits of Control oh and vaguely on the topic of Grand Budapest Hotel, i recently rewatched the episode 'The Labours of Hercules' (of the Poirot tv series), and it's neat to see two different takes on the same type of setting (alpine resort with funicular, spa etc.). There's even a character named Gustave.

Actually, It's about Relocation in Games Journalism

I think it's okay in the post where he is summing up stuff he's done in the past to not link (he didn't, for instance, even link to his own article on the subject), but from what googling I was able to do in 5 mins, it looks like he didn't link in the original post either. To be fair, it's kind of par for the course, and he might well have been victim of house policy to not drive traffic offsite etc. I'm willing to give the benefit of doubt because he's done a bunch to promote other writers with his 'worth reading' series on giant bomb. -

My main problem with kotaku is it doesn't let you just rss things you care about. (there used to be a way to do that before they switched over to kinja). You can rss Patrick's stuff now, but it also gives you his comments in a contextless mish mash. -

basically because it is poorly implemented. but if it has a sell value of 0 or 1 it may be needed for research or, rarely, a quest, otherwise sell away.

There's nothing to be Gaynor-ed by continuing. -
I logged into animal crossing on a whim for the first time in over a year and apparently I'm like Santa Claus or something because multiple of my villagers told me they were doubting that I even existed. That's pretty weird.

On reflection, I think you might be right about the boss but there are a whole mess of spider enemies in that area in general and as far as I'm aware, it's a mandatory mission.
-
Griddlelol is correct, but there are rather a lot of optional areas where they can be found so you'd be skipping a lot. Plus there's one main story boss who is spider-like. For example, If you do go for it, probably you'd want to skip any cave/tomb in the Hissing Wastes map (there is even a small region where they spawn out in the open on that map), which is kind of all there is to do on that map. Although I certainly know people who've beat the game without visiting that map at all, so I dunno. edit: oops, actually you probably want to avoid, I just remembered that the whole story section in which that spider-like boss appears is riddled with spiders. I mean yes, it is entirely predictable, but also entirely unavoidable, so.

A Thread For Me To Rag On Merus' Imprecise Use Of Certain Words
juv3nal replied to Ben X's topic in Idle Banter
I feel like if we are going to judge Merus harshly, some context is needed: for instance if "Yeah, no-one's been pouring detergent down that slope." was a direct response to the question "Hey does anyone know if someone's been pouring detergent down that slope?" then it seems a perfectly precise use of words. -

Are we doing skippable style, "this is good if you skip these episodes/seasons" ? If not, I will ditto Spaced and Paranoia Agent and add Foyle's War. If yes, I will also add Hustle. Hustle is pretty lighthearted material (kind of like the brit prototype for leverage) but it really is my favourite show aside from: 1) the season where Adrian Lester is off doing something else and 2) episodes where any of them try to fake an American accent (which are pretty uniformly unconvincing).

Pretty sure GB did a quick look of it....yup:

I've been watching the game which is a BBC production, but BBC worldwide so somehow we get it in north america before the brits do. It's kinda like a low rent Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy as tv series? I'm liking it a lot as I'm a sucker for tweedy cold war espionage stuff. http://www.bbcamerica.com/the-game/

If it were, that would be the first thing about it that has me vaguely interested.

They brought on a character animator so presumably one thing that will differentiate it from gone home is there will character(s?) that are animated.

I don't have a ton of space on my main drive (and I tend to keep data stuff on the external, but actual programs like games on the main drive which is an ssd), so I tend to lump all uninstalled ones together into an 'archive' category and forget about them. The only non installed ones that get a different category are things in early access that I have no intention of checking out until they are out of early access. I do vaguely categorize the installed ones by genre, but there are only 15 of them at the moment so it's not like it's hugely important.

I don't think it's AI Direction, that just kinda happens there (if it's where I'm thinking of). The elite bears are a fixed spawn, the assassins and non elite bears are both a common random spawn in that area. Though I had cleared out the templar camp mission in the Hinterlands so I didn't get that addition. I was overlevelled at the time so it wasn't a big deal for me also.

Apologies if this has been posted before, this is not directly about Ferguson but it is fucking terrifying all the same: http://brown-shuga-trompeta.tumblr.com/post/81471249745/here-is-the-video-proof-of-my-previous-post-about

It sure would be swell if party members could auto use regen potions when slightly hurt before going for the proper healing potions. I mean I'm sure it happens *some*, but not enough that I feel I don't have to micromanage it.

Not all the way, but you can get pretty close if you rank 3 the Iron Banner event on right now. Apparently it resets so you have to get it done before it ends or start over next time though. Not that I am bothering because I am all the way Dragon Aging at the moment.
