Meet the Pyro - The last of the meet the team videos
Murdoc replied to ysbreker's topic in Video Gaming
Sorry I'll restate it as "Was a sweet spot for me" It's not like everything that made it great disappeared, it's still there, just that for me personally, I find there too many additions for my brain to keep track of and it hampers on the amount of fun I personally have. I know this is different for everyone and everything they have done legitimate. The one actual criticism I can have of the current TF2 is not allowing an option for classic mode, but they have their reasoning, It would just be nice and maybe an interesting way to introduce new players by going into classic mode then progressively flipping the switch for the new stuff. -

I too did miss grenades, but I think there was a sweet spot of TF2 that had a lot of awesome.... I can't think of the word... synergy? between classes and become a really complex system of rock, paper, scissors. It was great. 100% free the same, the store stuff kind of bothers me too. -

Yeah that might be my problem with it too Twig. But I still love the characters and the art/graphics still really hold up I want to be able to pop in and love it again. -

Ha. glad they finally finished up the series. Sadly, I don't play TF2 anymore, it just got too involved with the updates, I almost need a TF2 Classic mode at this point. -
I think the premise was alright and I gave it an honest shot at one point by watching the first few episodes, it has some merit, but not much. What? Really? I'm pretty sure a large percentage of TOS had a moral of the story type ending that was related to social issues or politics. If that wasn't Roddenberry writing from his point of view, I'd be really surprised.

"Set my brain on fire" -- IGN.com ...

Just like the technological superior Zune did to the Ipod!

Yeah that's a perfect example and I'm solely speaking for myself, but Fez looks great, but I totally ignored it's release because I saw so much of it over the years. I should really go give it a try at some point, but I bet I won't until its long forgotten.

I feel like I've been hearing about this game for so long I started not to care. I'm still interested and will be playing it but I think its been 3 or 4 GDCs where it gets mentioned so its hard to muster any enthusiasm until I get it into my hands. I hope it turns out to be good, but I think with the constant chatter for so long it's guaranteed a success in sales but might be a bit of a let down in game-play because the expectation is now so high.

Saw this video on tigsource and it is the craziest god damn stuff that looks awesome. I tried downloading it, but work wont let me, but figured some people here might think this is cool. The best I can associate it with is like a CS zombie game or Source Forts... but I suppose to everyone else it might just be a Minecraft with Zerg or something. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxBSYit49c8&feature=player_embedded# http://www.starforge.com/

Didn't say there was anything wrong with it, though I was being somewhat sarcastic for whatever reason, maybe to make a joke? Who knows, I'm grouchy Am interested in trying it

Glad to see she's broken from the creative shackles of Valve and really struck out to do something uniquely different... I do like the art though.

I really liked the music from the quick look and the art is really nice. It's the sort of fidelity I'd like Torchlight to have been if they were going for a lighter/goofier feel. (backstory: I think Torchlight was awesome, but couldn't get into it because of the art) I dunno if it's my type of game though because of the dissonance. It seems to be taking a few staples from the things I do like, Fallout 1/2 and Diablo... but I think it just reminds me that I'd rather be playing those other games. I like that it's set in Sweden though, but didn't get much of a feeling for that from the quicklook.

My friend lent me his PC tablet that he stuck Win 8 on before I left and from what I can tell, it's pretty much a surface. Maybe the surface will run faster, but from my experience in the Surface knock off with Win 8 is that it sucks, I find myself just connecting a mouse to it and going to classic desktop.

Haven't listened to the cast, but wanted to post this link here since it seems you'll be talking about it. http://www.cnn.com/2012/06/18/tech/gaming-gadgets/civilization-ii-ten-years/index.html Civilization is the best.

Because it's actually an issue and one of the main bottlenecks I find in my job. Over the last 5 years we've stopped making a lot of 1024x512 textures and just make 512 which then get compressed to 256 or lower half the time. And it's not even a size issue, it's a variety issue as well. In short, it's last this long not by choice and with out massive sacrifices and frustration to ship a game for at least the last couple years. To see your hard, good looking work, get crunched to shit near the end of the project is really disappointing. By having a large amount of ram we prepare for the future and granted, it's just going to get eaten up by something, so why not compensate with a little more than what can be imagined now so it gives developers an some breathing room to try new things?
-
I bet it'll be more than 4gb, because that just sounds low in this day and age.
-
I know things. Dark things. Get ready for a lot of dumb shit that makes the previous dumb shit smart. The great thing bout ram in the last 6 years is it's now dirt cheap, so crank that sucker up and we'll see acceptable texture resolution which will be nice for a change.

Is it weird I don't consider the media part of the gaming industry then? I figured it's its own industry that just happens to report and discuss the video game industry. Granted the video never specified which industry, I realize he's a veteran but for some reason took up a contention that I thought it referred to him as a video game industry veteran. Also, didn't mean to insult him either, he's kooky and fun to watch.
-
What industry is Adam Sesller a veteran of, craziness?

These days I just expect a modern consol to do what a top of the line PC did 2 years before it's release but with a fancy(or dumb) interface... which isn't a bad thing and a pretty good deal.

Pikmin 2 multiplayer finally coming out for Wii in North America
Murdoc replied to shammack's topic in Video Gaming
Yeah thats just insane. -
Ah shit, what happens when they take their last game and mash it together to something that might remind me of Aerobiz? I really love their characters and themes of thier game(s) but sadly after realizing there wasn't much a "game" in the last one I hope theres more going on in this. I'll check this out and report back or go dig up my superness and just play Aerobiz.

Hate the movie (but I get it) and love the book... well at least in highschool. Would love to see the real thing as a movie one day, they are just two distinctly different things that really shouldn't be associated with each other anymore. I don't know why so many people can have an issue with a fantasy about a facist militaristic state with Starship Troopers, but then play the shit out of Halo and Modern Warfare (not refering to anyone here). Just because one was smartly written and the other is popcorn games doesn't make much of a difference, I like the ideas proposed in Starship Troopers(the book) in fiction, so I don't care what it's trying to say since it was interesting and cool scifi. Maybe that's the same reason I like Mel Gibson movies, I dunno,
