  1. Games giveaway

I'd love to try Waking Mars, if that isn't gone already? I got a gift copy of for a person who wants it.
  2. Arma 3 Beta Shenanigans

This is a good idea, but yea, the usual time.
  3. Deleting or deactivating your account?

I can make it happen... For a price.
  4. San Francisco Residents!

Ah drat. I won't be in San Fransisco until the latter half of august! I would've loved to meet and hang out with some thumbs. Although maybe we could potentially still do that??
  5. The Last of Us

It's one of the execution animations if you melee a guy you grabbed with a pistol equipped in hand. Once you grab hold o' them, unless they break free, they gon' die.
  6. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

A bunch of foreign fruit finally blossomed on the fertile grounds of Vidyagam. Is it just me, or has it been super rainy the past days? Finished my campsite today at least. Hoping to get my last bridge done tomorrow!
  7. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Teddy moved in today... He is a giant teddy bear who likes surfing and calls me bro...
  8. Rising Storm/Red Orchestra 2

I called it Arma-CoD, you dope.
  9. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Which it doesn't do automatically. WELCOME TO ANIMAL CROSSING.
  10. Permadeath

    It's cool, I wasn't.
  11. Permadeath

    1) I'm pretty sure I elaborated on my why. Which I assume you don't agree with then, but that's how it is for me. So, ok. 2) It's not true that there are no goals. It's what you make of it; you set your own. Whenever I talk about DayZ with friends who played it too, you always end up recounting the war stories. The stories that come out of your playthrough, that's where the value is for me. I own that; that is my story.
  12. Permadeath

How about something like DayZ? Remove permadeath from that and you'd probably lose most if not all of the tension. Permadeath for that game means that each character you play with has his own unique story with a beginning and, eventually, an end. And the end really will suck after all the time you've invested into your character. DayZ's survival system (food, drink, heat, etc.) require you to get into action so no matter what you'll be forced to take risks. Some of the tensest moments in any video game I've ever played have been in both DayZ and Arma 2 and 3. I think my point is that sometimes it's about the journey, not the destination.
  13. The Last of Us

At some point on friday, I got hit with the save bug again before Naughty Dog fixed it, so I did the old-school thing of leaving my console on until I had finished the game. Finished it later that friday! Definitely Naughty Dogs best work yet. I didn't want to get too OCD when it came to scavenging for supplies, which I think worked out in my favor. I played it through on normal 1.5 times now, so just exploring for fun and moving on when I felt I was done caused some tense moments later on having so little supplies to work with. I imagine that if you played on hard, the scarcity of resources increases? I see what you mean about the mechanics not deserving the rest of the game, although the mechanics presented are pretty damn solid. A thing that bugged me during my playthrough was, for example, I'm gonna assume that Naughty Dog already knows what is "wrong" with the Last Of Us, which already makes me super excited for whatever they're working on next. Whatever it is; day 1 perch! Personally, what I'd love to see is if they opened up the environments just a tad bit more. I think it'd do wonders for giving the world a better sense of place. Sometimes the locations you're at feel more like sets than actual places and spending large portions of your time navigating twisty buildings makes that thing happen where you need to stop and think to yourself "Wait, where am I and why was I here again?" Though that latter thing was less of a problem during my 2nd playthrough so far. Familiarity made the overall flow of the game way better for me.
  14. The Last of Us

Well, just fucking dandy. I seem to be having the worst luck with newly released Naughty Dog games. I hit some sort of glitch or bug, which apparently caused saving to no longer work. The short of it being that I lost around 4 hours of progress. Sigh. I got a patch update and they changed some little things in the menu around, so I assume that was the fix, but still really fucking annoying.
  15. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

My town has pears! I don't like pears, but I'm cool with that either way.
  16. E3 2013 Idle Thumbs Steam Chat

I watched that Nintendo thing and all I felt was pity.
  17. Life

You haven't lived until you've put a finger into a leaky dyke.
  18. Nintendo 3DS

I ordered this too, but it's not coming out till thursday next week here. It's gonna be my first Animal Crossing game, so I'm not quite sure what you can do with the network stuff. All I know is that it's all weird. My thing, in case anyone wants to swap some fruits.
  19. E3 2013 Idle Thumbs Steam Chat

I totally forgot. Who does it 4 days before actual E3 anyway? It's their own fault! Here is the Konami thing.
  20. Myst-a-likes?

Yea, I'm of similar mind as Toblix on Myst. Nothing else is quite like it. Has anyone ever played Uru and is it any good?
  21. The great Valve re-play

And also what did they break? I started replaying HL2 as well. Hadn't played it in a good long while. I'm pretty much in agreement; the game held up so well. I also didn't know they added achievements to it. I think that would've annoyed me if I played it for the first time, but I'm kind of enjoying doing some of them along the way, playing it for the however many times I've played it before. A lot of the sequences (like the canals) were actually way shorter than I remember them being, but then I have an easier time navigating everything due to familiarity.
  22. Things in games that terrify you irrationally

I once terrified Toblix by walking out of a closet in Resident Evil 6.
  23. Unity

Here's another thing that might be useful to beginners.
  24. Movie/TV recommendations

Is this an expectations thing? Because I'm loving it so far. More Arrested Development!
