If you're scoping out jobs around SF, try to live and work on the same side of the bay so as to avoid bridge tolls. For ex, work in San Rafael and live in Novato, thus staying north of the GG Bridge the whole time. LA is not as full, but it is not as nice. (Went to the Mission when I visited last week. Saw a band in Dolores Park with a Manic Pixie Dream Girl accordionist. Is... is that a regular thing in SF? Is that what hipster is? I'm scared.)

I am visiting SF! Even though Scott had the day off he happily took me to TTG. We managed to get there when everyone was out at lunch. That view of the lake is sweet. Also bought a new mattress because existing one from IKEA was murdering my back.

I think the main reasons is the GIANT talent pool in SF - the ton of out of work nerds looking for any available tech job, and my relatively poor qualifications (6 years in the same job - a generalist "many hats" position that's hard to describe on a resume, NDA-ed so I don't have much to show). Plus: I'm rubbish!

Fun story: I backed DFA but never watched any of the backer-only videos (the video solution KS uses for backer-only videos doesn't work correctly for me). I feel guilty every time I get an e-mail about it because I've been too lazy to follow-up.

Current/common use of "affair" in English means you're schtupping someone else while you're married or in an otherwise-monogamous relationship without the consent of the other person in your relationship. For example: "Ray's wife had an affair with the milkman while he was out of town. Now she's pregnant and doesn't know who the father is." If that's what's going on with you, there's probably a very good reason she's not contacting you. Because she's in a relationship with someone else and you were her bit on the side.
