The Pulse Rifle is really nice, it's definitely my number two favorite primary weapon type. The Fusion Rifle (charge-up gun) definitely takes some finesse but it super effective if you learn to use it. The ones with the highest impact can kill in one hit at point-blank range but also do a fair amount of damage at a distance or to groups of tightly packed enemies. I tend to use it most often when the enemy team is being a little cheeky with shotguns and dominating a close-quarters area with impunity. I actually picked Dead Orbit because my preferred armor set boosts both Auto Rifles and Fusion Rifles ammo capacity and reload. Intellect doesn't seem as valuable to me as a Striker Titan, because I really tend to use my Super situationally - mostly if I see that someone is behind a tight corner with a shotgun or if there are three or four guys on a single control point.

They are just to the left of your armor or to the right of your character's model in the menus. They reduce cooldowns for your ability junk. I basically selected Dead Orbit because I saw that the final armor boosts auto rifles which are probably my favorite primary weapon type. I also like the basic black/white color scheme of their stuff, goes well with whatever armor you have pretty much.

I believe it does divert the experience, but the reason I decided to do it is because I dabble in both halves - the Vanguard and Crucible. By joining a faction you can pool all the reputation from both of those into a single faction and get their rewards faster than you'd get the respective Vanguard/Crucible rank rewards if you do a little of both. If you're going to be doing a lot of one type of gameplay, then I imagine the factions are less compelling. Also I like hearing Peter Stormare's voice.

I believe that those are weekly/extended length events, like a Crucible match type that gets bonus XP or a Strike with some Heroic modifiers and a high level that'll give you great loot. It's kind of amazing how many things in the game are not explicitly explained. I really had no idea that the stuff you can harvest around the levels had multiple purposes, like you can trade them in for Vanguard marks/rank (not sure which one?) or use them to upgrade certain equipment (had no idea that upgrading used any more than glimmer until I hit level 20). The dude who collects the strange coins seems to come and go, and he seems to be some weird agent of the Darkness based on the product descriptions of his junk. It also seems like you should buy a faction class item ASAP when you hit level 20 because you're just leaving reputation on the table if you don't have one equipped.

Also don't read the comments for that article. I accidentally did and participated to some extent, but it seems like the prevalent thought is "if her work isn't of an academic/scientific quality and she is dishonest or misrepresents some small fraction of her evidence in her Feminist Frequency videos, why should I believe her?" or basic arguments like "what reason would I have to just believe someone over someone else?" Sometimes I really hate men's demands for logical explanations for everything, false equivalences, and walls of text.

It's kinda hilarious how GGers think that feminists are this massive force that could possibly have more systemic cultural oppressive impact than hundreds of years of worldwide patriarchy.

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS

I think we need to put Tycho in the remedial Thumbs lore class.

I'm unfortunately going to be away from home all day. I may be available this evening at something like 8PM EDT, but that's all I could try for. My schedule for the rest of the week is limited to after 5PM EDT. That said, I am now level 20 and would be more than willing to give it a try if any of those times work for a group.

Damn it, but computers have become really complicated
JonCole replied to Erkki's topic in Idle Banter
That's super weird, I wonder if it's a mouse/trackpad driver thing. Can you try plugging in a mouse and seeing if the problem persists? In my computer news, I accidentally started building a PC. My wife's computer is my old one and probably isn't up to handling The Witcher 3, which is her most anticipated upcoming PC game. I can't really afford the $600-700 to actually make the PC that she deserves, so I decided that I would downgrade myself and give her my Ivy Bridge i5 CPU/mobo/RAM. Since I play only a fraction of my games on PC and she plays almost all of her games on PC, it seemed the natural choice. Anyways, this was a plan for the next four months or because Witcher 3 is coming out in February or something. But then a very overclockable Pentium had a good sale, and then a good mobo + RAM combo came up and I suddenly have half of my new PC. Deals totally destroy my free will. -
Has anyone tried Destiny on the Vita via Remote Play? I gave it a go this morning, not too bad. The latency is such that I wouldn't want to try PvP with it, but it's just fine for Patrol and easy story missions. Also, I wish there was a way to adjust look sensitivity automatically when you use Remote Play. My 10 sensitivity on the Vita's controls is absolute shit. It's hard enough to use precision weapons (hand cannon, scout rifle, sniper rifle) on that small a screen, but with any sensitivity over like... 3-4 it is almost literally impossible, at least for me.

Weird thing - as I began following more and more feminists on Twitter as this whole GG thing started, I've also accidentally followed a few misandrists along the way. I've actually kept a handful of them in my timeline, because I honestly think the articulate ones have a very interesting point of view on modern societal issues. I feel like it's kinda easy to hate men when men probably make 99% of the major decisions in the world and you are victim to those decisions. Their view has been really informative to me, kinda like have a fully raw and unvarnished women's perspective (this is not to say that misandrists speak for all women, but I feel like we get fully raw and unvarnished opinions from men all the time so the reverse is interesting). Also, one of my favorite things is when men speak up to misandrists who just shut them down. A lot of them clearly feel that they're not the kind of guys that misandrists should hate because they're good people. The funny thing is, if you really thought you were an unharmful man who respected women's opinions you could probably just let misandrists do their thing. Instead, you just have to speak up and say "no you're wrong, I AM someone you should listen to" which proves their point entirely.

I saw that owners of Hotline Miami got free coupons for Nidhogg at 50% off, but the Humble Store is running a summer sale that has it for 66% off/$5 - https://www.humblebundle.com/store There are also flash deals and stuff going on, including Banished at $6 for the next two hours or so.

I know I'm like a week or more late to this discussion, but I just wanted to say that TFYC is clearly not an organization fighting for women in good faith. They've recently been updating their Tumblr, responding to questions asked by GG people, and have been saying some truly questionable shit - They think that "the male gaze" doesn't exist. They think that issues surrounding people who don't conform to gender are boring. They effectively compared 4Chan to the Nazis, and then said that they would take money from the 4Chan Nazis even if Hitler was a part of them because they're trying to do a good thing. They think it's okay that people just "don't care" about gender and race issues.

My wife has a particular problem with Quebecois French, but I don't know the nuances of her argument. With my rudimentary knowledge of the language, that Acadian French looks horrifying.

I've seen similar blogs on Gamasutra about startup game dev companies and I don't really have a problem with them granted everyone is on a very deliberately negotiated contract that's based on revenue share. Rev share =/= "unpaid". Sure if the game isn't successful, then it's unpaid but that's under the terms of a specific agreement that would basically say "you might get unpaid". -
That's the thing that got Chris Grant in some trouble. Don't see the harm of autoblocking < 7 day accounts that tweet you, though.

My wife swears that Canadian French is awful, as someone who has an American degree in French and studied in southern France.
-
Yeah, I agree. I wouldn't have said it this way, something more like "improving" and "wasting time" are both completely subjective. But yeah.

This recommendation is coming to be a broken record, but maybe try Duolingo?

There are three kinds of PvE modes that take part in the same overworld - Story/side missions - you select these on a map, you start the level in one place and go from waypoint to waypoint until you complete certain objectives. This is most like a standard Halo mission thing. Strike missions - similar to the first kind, except there is no story-based artifice for these - these are basically raids where you beat a series of bosses in a more directed attempt to get loot. Patrol - this is where you are dropped into the overworld and can roam around, taking small MMO-style mission where you collect things or kill certain guys or whatever. For Patrol, you always see other people in the same world as you. For the others, there are areas that other people hang out in but eventually you go into certain areas that are completely instanced and you only play with your fireteam.
