There have been posts on sites like PC Gamer, and the Double Fine and Steam community forums for the game have both been pretty active on the issue.

Well crap, maybe I will just continue with Dead Orbit. Though I'm honestly taking a shine to hand cannons more than auto rifles for PvE, the latter of which I was focusing on with my choice. Meh. Fixed, for me.

My car window is messed up and it costs $350 to fix. YAAAAAY MONDAYS YEAAAAAAH

For me, the whole point of Early Access (please don't abbreviate it to EA, I spent a good minute trying to figure out if Electronic Arts has some crazy contract where someone can't quit if they start development on a game ) is that you're not guaranteed anything except for exactly what you're buying when you're buying it. If you look at an early access game and it doesn't look like something you'd enjoy in that early stage of dev, there's a great way to ensure you get the game you want - wait for the full release and reevaluate.

Yeah, about half of the legendary engrams I've gotten have given me motes of light. The other half has been all blues. I suppose it works if I want to get an exotic engram from Xur. The only legendary item I have right now is the torso armor from Dead Orbit. I'm kinda thinking about grinding Crucible marks this week to get the 100 marks/week trophy and to afford two more legendary armor pieces. At 15 marks/day, I feel like it'd just take up to a couple hours a night of grinding.

From what I understand, releasing the Lua source code effectively means that you can change names, variables, and stuff like that but you won't be able to fundamentally build on the game's systems. Of course, I could be wrong because I really don't know a thing about that stuff. I think that in general, people don't know how to regard Double Fine. They work on a lot of different games, they have several teams, and they have some relatively ambitious stuff in the pipeline. That said, they're still really small and each game has multiple separate sources of funding. I saw someone on the Steam community forums for the game seriously suggest that Double Fine rent out a house, buy some bunks, and have the Spacebase team buckle down to make it the game that that specific person was hoping for. He might as well have suggested they eat ramen to cut down on living expenses. Double Fine is a real business, not a hobby. Of course, none of that automatically excuses DF from any wrongdoing, but I just think that many people's expectations are really out of touch.

It's definitely got some serious MMO loot design, though the latter thing you mention is not part of it. I'm almost rank 3 in Dead Orbit, so I think I'm going to work on FWC next. But I also want to rank Vanguard since I am playing a lot more PvE than PvP, so I think I'll only equip the FWC class item while I'm playing Crucible or submitting Crucible bounties.

Well those last two posts just made me gag

4Chan made it as a character to use in TFYC's contest for women so its kinda become a symbol for the people who think that so called SJWs aren't actually feminist. Also, the color choice of her outfit is apparently based on a rape meme.

Heads up - the Agent of the Nine is hanging out in the North Tower, near the Speaker. I kinda just thought he didn't come by every weekend, but I guess he does but just in a different place every time?

Idle Thumbs 176: The Classic Alien Form

I wouldn't minimize the fact that violence is an action and sexism is not. Take this at face value because I don't have the source readily available, but I once saw a statistical analysis that showed a correlation between the release of major violent video games and the decrease in actual violent crime. Obviously correlation is not causation, but suppose that violent video games give the people who would potentially perform violent crime an outlet to get out those feelings and distract them. In this supposition, I'd venture to guess that this is because you're performing acts in the game that are more or less congruent to the real-life actions you might take. You don't "do" sexism in games. In fact, many if not a majority of the examples cited by Anita in her tropes videos are actually totally passive to your experience whether that is through cutscenes or through set dressing. Taking everything I've said into account, I personally come to the conclusion that since you're not actively performing acts congruent to "being sexist" very often in games (notable counterexamples include that horrible Kratos scene and still many others) you're not actually "getting sexism out" and instead only normalizing it. I don't know if this is a particularly convincing argument, but it's how I process sexism in games versus violence in games and how sexism in games actually seems more damaging to feminism than violence in games is to reducing violent crime. -
This weekend has been actively shitting on my face. Three legendary engrams, zero legendaries. On the bright side, I just randomly got a rare ship from submitting a bounty -

Yeah, there is a notable empty subclass option/box on the in-game character screen too. I only imagine it'll be in expansion stuff later on. At some point, it'd probably be easier to just matchmake into easier Strikes that you could do faster with randos rather than harder ones that you could be screwed on if you have bad randos. You going to play any more today? I'll probably be playing in another hour or so from now after I finish dinner and would be willing to do a few strikes.
-
That strike was savage. Taking out the flinching really does make them seem like bullet sponges, as I've realized that flinching gives you that critical buffer time to move among groups of enemies. Without the flinching, if you're surrounded by enemies you're totally screwed and there's nothing you can do about it. Also, wizards are huge dicks. In other news, I found out that FWC has a Titan armor set called "Astrolord". I'm feeling a little sad about going Dead Orbit as my first faction choice, though I will eventually become an astrolord.

"Title is wrong, these are not Blu-Ray rips they are uncompressed DVD rips at 480p. Not only that, but they don't even have Spanish subtitles included in the on the standard DVD rip! 2/10, not as advertised" "Missing s04e02. Otherwise good. 9/10"

I find the whole "games are made for and marketed to men because that's who plays them and it makes business sense to do so" thing so tiring. I don't think anyone disagrees that making products that suit a demographic is good business sense, but the problem is 1) you can make games that appeal to men that can also appeal to women and don't devalue them 2) it's a matter of proportion - just because men are a majority doesn't mean they therefore round up to 100% and everything should be targeted to only them.
-
Well I haven't tried it so I wouldn't know! Oh yeah, that was a typo. My wife is going to see a play tonight so 7 PM EDT would be best for me. Does that work for you guys? I also need to do pretty much all the strikes after the first one available on the Moon, so if anyone is up for more afterwards I'd also be down for that as well.

Anyone know of any good books about modern (1900 or so on) UK politics? I know literally nothing about it and am mildly curious in enriching myself in this particular topic.
-
Anyone need to do the weekly level 23 strike? I've been wanting to do it but I don't really want to play a hard strike with randos. I just hit level 23 myself, so I feel comfortable giving it a try if I can get some help.

Blackgate is the 3DS/PSV game. I heard it's actually pretty good, though I don't know anything about the port to PC.

Idle Thumbs 176: The Classic Alien Form

I'm only halfway through this episode but man is the Disney discussion interesting. As someone who grew up in a suburb of Orlando, let me say that going to Disney World a lot doesn't automatically mean you absorb and catalog that collected knowledge like Danielle does. I don't think I went 80 times, but I had an annual pass and went at least once a year (usually more) from age 7 - 18 because it was a simple 20 minute drive. I didn't notice ANY of that stuff she was talking about and I usually consider myself a person who cares about details. Hearing about some of it does make me reconsider some of the few memories I have of the time, but I wish I was half as excited to go to Disney back when I could do it with such ease. Weird how proximity and convenience can take all the magic out of something. Now that I'm a two hour drive away, I actually really want to go. Too bad single/two-day passes are so expensive. -
Yeah, I realized that as soon as I tried it once. Probably more reliable to just buy the weapons straight up as you suggested. That said, I've altered my behavior in that I pretty much am just not going to upgrade weapons unless I'm using them all the time. Really need to save that stuff for upgrading stuff at a higher light level.

The point is that your medal value is 8250 and mine is 12955 so BOOYAH

I just hit level 2 with Dead Orbit but I don't have enough Crucible Marks I will very shortly be buying a sweet EXODUS PLATE UPDATE: I bought the EXODUS PLATE and it's pretty dope.
-
That is crazy but something I might actually do. Or buy white weapon engrams just for parts, that way you at least get rank as well as parts. Although I'm kinda saving my glimmer in case they put out a ship or sparrow with an actually new design (as opposed to the same 4-5 ships and single design of sparrow) that will cost a ton.
