I dunno, I think DA2 is good and honestly it feels like a more suitable game as part of a series now that Inquisition came out (kinda like how Mass Effect 1 has a bad reputation but I feel like it's worth playing if you're going through the series). If you don't mind the idea of Dragon Age adopting more Mass Effect-style combat and game design, I'd still give it a go.

That's in 1 hour, 16 minutes 13 hours, 5 minutes for those of you who don't want to convert to local time. Edit: haha, I'm the worst.

It's an Itchio to benefit the Ferguson Public Library Includes 9 games for $9, most notably Eidolon which was mentioned on the cast.

I was once on a podcast where they clapped THREE TIMES. Like, one two three clap, one two three clap, one two three clap. Seemed a bit superfluous and I have rarely felt so silly.
-
Yeah, put simply as possible each person on the call uses Audacity or any other recording program to record their mic locally. When I did it, at the beginning of each recording everyone would count down from three and then clap at the same time to have a point to easily sync the files. By recording separately, you can sweeten each track separately and then combine them, which is a lot more effective before everything is mixed together. For instance, denoising works by detecting the ambient sound and eliminating it - but when two tracks are premixed, there are two or more layers of ambient sound and an audio program can't distinguish between them very well at all. As far as logistics go, we would usually have Audacity export to a shared Dropbox folder or something so the editor can easily access all the files. Also, someone would usually still run a Skype-recording program as a backup. You only have to lose a recording due to some weird technical issue in Audacity once before you vehemently take up the practice. Edit: hah, Patrick pretty much covered all of this.
-
Out of curiousity, do you record directly from Skype audio or do you record locally? Back when I used to do a podcast, local recordings did a lot to increase the sound quality. Of course, as you mention it didn't help much with guests who we didn't want to burden with installing Audacity locally to make it all work.

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS

Street Fighter V is a PS4 and PC exclusive according to a leaked Capcom trailer - http://www.polygon.com/2014/12/5/7338907/street-fighter-5-is-a-playstation-4-windows-pc-exclusive -
Yesterday was supposed to be the launch of the Orion spacecraft. One of the only things I particularly love about living in Florida (trust me, there are few) is that space launches from Cape Canaveral are plainly visible in the sky. Of course, that launch was scrubbed due to weather and mechanical issues. It was delayed to today, where it was cleared for 7:05am EST launch and successfully got up in the sky. Despite waking up at the right time, the stream on my phone died and when I went outside to see the launch the sky was ridiculously foggy and the visibility was zero. I'm so bummed.

I've been watching Nikita, which has been surprisingly good considering it was a CW show that looked kinda bland in outward appearance. It didn't even occur to me until I watched much of the first season that it is a TV adaptation of (La Femme) Nikita. In many ways it reminds me of Alias, except with a more limited scope (which I think is good) and more believable characters (also good). It caught my attention due to The Rise of Maggie Q, who came up on my radar with appearances in Die Hard 4, Mission Impossible 3 and Need for Speed: Undercover (in FMV, no less) and now seems to be showing up all the time between big films like Divergent and CBS's Stalker television series. Anyways, the series just completed its run last year and all of the episodes are available on Netflix. I'm just about through the first season but I feel pretty confident recommending it to people who enjoy Bond/Alias-type spy stuff.

I think it's just http://justicepoints.com/category/podcast/feed/ I'm not entirely sure, I use PocketCasts's internal discovery thing. But that xml has all the iTunes tags in it so I think it's a proper podcast RSS.

What platform is that on, again? I'm definitely interested in playing what Thumbs think are GOTYs. As for me, I haven't given it much thought. Right now it'd be between Wolfenstein, Destiny, COD: AW, South Park and Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright. That said, I haven't played all that much from this year yet... even just on my PS4 I have Shadow of Mordor, Dragon Age, Transistor, and Metro Redux all hanging out waiting to be played and I feel like any of those could be eligible for my personal contention (except maybe Redux, because do HD remakes really count?)

I'll cosign this recommendation, listened to an episode in September with a guest who I follow on Twitter (Soha Kareem) and it was an enjoyable listen.

Yeah, this was Brianna Wu. Her dog just died, which of course led to GGers sending her pictures of mutilated dogs, creating Twitter accounts with the same name as her dog that said stuff to the effect of "yeah, I'm glad I'm dead so I don't need to be in the same house as that dumb bitch", and much more similar garbage. She mentioned that what the dog died of could have come from poison, which she got tested because of what was happening to her. She said literally in the next tweet that it was ruled out, but GGers pounced on that mocking her for blaming GG for all of her woes including the death of her animal. At some point, I really have to wonder how anyone could associate themselves with GG and not be scum. How can you be party to scandal after scandal where a big contingent of your group just shames people for things that any human deserves sympathy for? Lots of "anti-GG people" make a point to say that we shouldn't call them all monsters, but boy do I feel like they all are sometimes. This is another semantic thing that was going on and really a tactical error by Zoe Quinn, which I honestly give her no grief over but I think her argument was undermined by the fact that she said Wardell sued that employee that accused him of harassment. It was later found that Kotaku, who was the lead on the reporting on that story, messed up the sequence of events - Wardell did not in fact countersue, apparently. That of course doesn't mean that he didn't do anything or that the apology that the alleged victim released seemed incredibly forced, just that when Wardell said all the shit he did today that was enough to go after him for without what he may or may not have done in the past. Today was proof enough that he's a scumbag. Now, of course, GGers have a search on Wardell or Stardock so as soon as I tweeted earlier tonight that I unsubscribed from Stardock's emails due to this business someone immediately sent me an article refuting his alleged countersuit from a year ago. It doesn't matter that he was a grade A asshole today, this legal issue from a year ago is now the focus of these fucking eggs.
-
The most preposterous thing is that he asserts that him, as the CEO of Stardock, telling a person to send in a resume on Twitter isn't a job offer. Now, I'm not saying he's culpable for the past of every person who submits a resume to his company, but when he publicly tells someone to apply who is scum he should at least own up to it if not apologize.

I could actually see that broadsword/greatsword thing being real, what with some of the other odd EU lightsaber things like a lightsaber whip and a double-length lightsaber. The bad guy in Star Wars Rebels has a lightsaber that can spin around autonomously in a circle, essentially building into the design what General Grevious does with his.

God, no kidding. Part of the weird tension of Serial for me is that Sarah is a northeastern white Jewish daughter of a copywriter and all of her subjects are about as far away from that as you can imagine. The whole drugs element is part of that - she never seems to really fully absorb the idea that a lot of teenagers just smoke weed to pass the time, or that notable landmarks in a town might be the oft-mentioned Best Buy parking lot, etc. There are just months of my teenage years where literally nothing of interest happened and all I did was hang out in a public park and do dumb drugs. If I was accused of a crime during that part of my life, I would have literally no idea how to defend myself because my alibi is "there's nothing to do around this town, so I was just dicking around somewhere".

That game is seriously one of my GOTY's. It has solid mechanics, kept me laughing the whole way through it, and didn't overstay its welcome (which is astounding when you consider most other modern RPGs).

I like doing the cranberry sauce recipe but with the juice and zest of 1-2 oranges (enough to get at least a half cup of juice) to replace the water plus some candied ginger. I'm having Thanksgiving with my parents so I'm not doing the cooking, but I am preparing a dessert tonight - pecan pie truffles. Also, my wife isn't joining me with my family so when I get back from my parents I'll be fixing her and a friend of ours a light Thanksgiving-ish dinner. Since the friend is on a low-to-no carb diet, it's going to be a challenge but I'm up to it. I'm going to be doing this preparation of Turkey and Stuffing Casserole, which is me hedging my bet on turkey because I've never cooked a whole Thanksgiving turkey before. To make it low-carb, I'm not using any prepared bread and I'm instead making an almond flour faux-cornbread tonight that will have a couple days to get nice and dry for the stuffing. I'm also doing mashed sweet potatoes on the side along with the aforementioned cranberry sauce and gravy from the turkey wings and giblets.

The left side of my jaw is killing me - I can't open my mouth more than about an inch before I get a sharp pain. I'm one of those idiots who has health and dental insurance and never uses them, so now I have to figure out what dentists are covered by my plan, if I can actually afford the copay for stuff, etc. Meh. Right before Thanksgiving too, ffs.
