More people should join our the100 group! Just added a new session, Trials for this coming Friday. Perfectly willing to play with people not so confident about PvP, I'll probably be creating a few more sessions throughout the weekend if there's any more interest. Didn't get to play any Trials the past couple days due to a vacation (maybe tonight, god willing) so I'm feeling particularly primed to burn some passages next week.

I bought way more than I have been in previous sales, but almost all of what I bought was on my wishlist so I don't feel too bad about it - Dead Rising 3 The Talos Principle Ori and the Blind Forest Life is Strange Complete Wolfenstein: The Old Blood Banished Valkyria Chronicles Cook, Serve, Delicious! Batman: Arkham Origins Sunset The Fall

Well I just bought weed legally in Colorado and I have to say that it's probably the most surreal thing I've experienced in quite a while.

I understand and appreciate where you're coming from Gorm and those of you who agree with him, but I don't think it's unfair to say that a subculture that chooses to adopt and even fetishize the symbol (and culture, these guys admire the heroes of the Confederacy too) of a government whose ideals strictly allowed the slavery of blacks in America has some problems. This is not to say that any other white Americans that aren't from the South are exempt from the potential of being racist or that tearing down the flag will solve racism in the South, but I do think that there are some specific issues with this situation. Put another way, I think that we can safely criticise people who proudly fly the flag without calling them "southerners". Call them what you like.

I don't understand the logic of people who think that flying the Confederate flag is an act of honoring ancestors and celebrating tradition and history. They seem to readily admit that not everything about the Confederacy is good or perfect, but they're just so committed to being proud of their heritage that their symbol of the past should be accepted. Basically, my lack of understanding in their logic is rooted in what makes the Confederacy in particular worth honoring over any other shitty historical thing. Like, should I be celebrating my ancestor who fought in many "legitimate", sanctioned by the actual government wars against the Native Americans? I would think that (if their logic was applied universally) one of these Confederate flag wavers would want us to appreciate their service to the country despite essentially forwarding genocide. I haven't asked any of them what they think about their Nazi ancestors, American Indian War ancestors, Japanese internment camp operator ancestors, etc but I suspect that they wouldn't be as proud of those shitty people as they are of the shitty generals of the Confederacy who apparently deserve to have streets named after them.

Oh, excellent. I'll definitely be joining. The things it has over the forums here are that it automatically converts events into local time for participants and it creates events with capacity equal to the event at hand. It's kind of confusing when we say that we want to do a raid, 6-8 people all express interest in participating but don't commit and then we try to start but only have 4-5 people. There's something nice about saying, here's this event for 6 people, sign up to get in. Vacation priorities -

I wasn't able to find a way to make a group on the100, only join one and I kept getting matched with groups that were nearly full and couldn't accomodate any more people. It seems to be a networking site, not a site for facilitating groups of people who already want to play together. Am I reading that site wrong?

If you buy a full set of vendor armor with Vanguard/Crucible marks, you'll be level 32. Get a fully upgraded exotic and a light level 42 item either by ascending a piece of armor or getting one from Prison of Elders/Trials of Osiris and you'll be level 33. Vanguard marks are easier than ever to get, particularly because House of Wolves daily heroic missions give 20 marks and they appear seemingly weekly or more. I would say that the expansions have changed how Destiny feels by quite a bit simply because there is more to do and House of Wolves in particular focuses on fireteams of 3 rather than raid or Crucible groups of 6. That said, if you were put off by leveling via armor or you mostly like to play the content solo, I doubt that they will be able to change your mind wholesale.

Ah, the Scholar is one of the Trials-exclusive drops that is specced really well for PvP. It's a slick Scout Rifle. I was trying to figure out why you were asking if I use Bad Juju regularly, but then I realized it was in the screencap I posted. Yeah, I actually do. Not a huge fan of pulse rifles, but Bad Juju is a genuinely good weapon. I actually use it mostly for PvP which I wouldn't readily suggest over something like Thorn or The Last Word, but so many people rock hand cannons that something with more consistent range (not to mention better rate of fire) gives me some unique opportunity for engagement with people not so great with those weapons. Also, I'm using it a little more often in PvE because I realized that I only have a few weapon types that aren't maxed out in my grimoire. Need to make more use out of pulse rifles, fusion rifles, sniper rifles, and heavy machine guns.

Sorry I couldn't join you guys, I was having really bad luck in Trials during the weekend and finally picked up a good team earlier tonight that ran long since we did well. 8 wins! 2 Etheric Light! The Scholar! Whoo!

Edit: Wow, literally from the time I initially complained about this to just now they changed it so that it doesn't show that -30% "discount". Nonetheless, it's a pretty shitty deal.

Rockstar is legitimately trying to say that GTAV is normally priced at $85 and that $60 is a deal. I can't even.

Maybe you can retranscode it using Handbrake or something?

I doubt I'll have my Thorn void kills bounty done by this weekend anyways, so Mo/Tu sounds alright by me. Also, even if I do complete my bounty by then I'd always be willing to run that Strike. Ran VoG HM last night and got a Fatebringer. I'm so stoked.

I've always been vaguely interested in LiveScribe for the reasons you detail I haven't gotten one. Also, I think the latest version only syncs with Evernote (which I think you mentioned) which is alright because Evernote is fine but I'm not enamored by being locked into a single service.

I think you mean "man sack".

Well Mech said he can't play tonight. But yeah, generally midnight is pretty late for me to be starting anything. It could maybe fly on a Friday or during the weekend.
-
Maybe I'll put in an effort to finish the void kills portion of my Thorn bounty so I can join you guys. Xyor should be easy if everyone is 32+.

Anyone up for a NF? CussedCayuse and I need a third. NF went great! Cussed got an Obsidian Mind as reward, which is always nice. Then we ran the 32 POE and a couple armor cores, which I think should bring him to L33. Overall a productive night.

So, I've recently picked up on a good habit while playing Destiny. Basically, use the party system as a status indicator. If you log on and want to play with other people, create a party and change the name of the party from "Jonac13's Party" or whatever to "POE32 or NF". That way, you've already made the party and if anyone logs in and is looking for something to do they can just join up on you without having to exchange messages beforehand.
