  1. Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

I've played long enough to get the fifth gym badge, and although the global trade stuff is introduced fairly early, I have yet to get a Meowth because PEOPLE ARE CRAZY and want all sorts of legendary bullshit in trade. I'm not happy.
  2. YES ALL CALVIN & HOBBES ALL THE TIME
  3. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

Oh, man, Cassandra It's so good.
  4. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

The patch fixed my most concerning issue: the main character voice-switch that happens under certain circumstances when talking to Varric at Skyhold. I was content with doing sidequests and holding off on that for a while, but had just gotten to the point where I wanted to continue the story.
  5. PC Gaming - Graphics and Performance

I was having similar problems with a GTX 650, and the in-game benchmark showed almost no change between highest and lowest settings. I just upgraded to a GTX 750, and got a bump of about 15 fps. I also recommend checking out the PC Gaming Wiki for any game release. It usually takes a few days for people to update it with tweaks and such, but is very useful.

Maybe he's eating it for the articles. In all seriousness, seeing that the intent has been explicitly stated by Ridley Scott does make it come off as tone-deaf, even if it was done in ignorance. If the devs really do care about the source material as much as they seem to, it's weird that they would just sort of paper over it for some sort of strange fan service.
  7. You could be MC SpillBeanz.
  8. You could probably set up some sort of script that required you to send a password or email or something every 24 hours, and failure to do so would assume your death and trigger the bomb rigged inside your computer a system format.

Original in-movie intent aside, I think that its presence in Isolation is more due to enthusiastic devs wanting to acknowledge their love of the material with referential touches. Remember that drinking bird? We've got that! How about half an android torso? We did that, too!

Oh, man, you can modify some of Isolation's files and remove lens flare: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Alien:_Isolation#Lens_Flare So satisfying.

Me too! I'll also take this opportunity to link my Steam screenshots gallery. Sometimes I get an urge to take constant shots during a game, like Infinite or Unreal 2, which I replayed recently for some reason. I also tend to make dumb comments on them, like when I played Sniper Elite V2 & Nazi Zombie Army and made a bunch of terrible action movie one-liners.

There are times when she wears a space suit, but this is not one of them. Being in a suit gives you the requisite "inside a helmet" view, but there was a nice touch that I'll try to get a shot of next time it happens: the edges of the glass faceplate do some bendy refraction I thought looked neat.

I was referring more to the lens flare than anything. I can understand emulating specific effects to (re)create a cinematic style, but using a first-person point of view makes some of those things stand out to me. Had it been a third-person view, it wouldn't matter, because I can imagine that it actually is a camera following someone around. Tell me that someone's eyes are actually like that, and I'll tell you to fuck off.

I will agree that Alien: Isolation looks great, but apparently game devs still think that eyes work like cameras:
  15. Yeah, time really flew by in that session. When the hour warning was given, my first thought was "Already?" and then I realized that 3 hours had passed.
  16. Lords of the Fallen: Clunky Souls

Some character (or possibly audio log) talks about there being protective shrines in the graveyard. Standing in one of them nullifies all damage from the blast.
  17. Tune in next time for The Bookhouse Boys and the Mystery of the Whittled Whistle! I think it's kept deliberately vague, but you'll know for certain next episode.
  18. OH SHIT THIS SHIT JUST GOT REAL
  19. Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

Okay, you (pocket) monsters, I've got Omega Ruby, and as soon as I can trade online, there's gonna be a Meowth party ALL UP IN THIS SHIT. Also, to celebrate the launch, if you connect and get a Mystery Gift from now until sometime in January, you get a shiny Beldum holding a mega stone.
  20. Metroid movie directed by John Woo CONFIRMED!
  21. The DS is ten years old.

I don't think I used tweezers, but I do remember it taking a few tries.
  22. The DS is ten years old.

I 100%/perfected/whatever you want to call doing everything on all difficulties in both EBA and Ouendan. I love those games so much how could I have forgotten about them I'm a terrible person. I accidentally stepped on my DSLite and cracked the top screen. I ordered a new one and somehow didn't fuck up following a YouTube guide. The way they squeezed the screen's ribbon cable through a partially hollow hinge complicated things a bit.
  23. The DS is ten years old.

I thought the battle system was interesting, but stopped after a couple hours because the main character is just so awful. TETRIS DS, MOTHERFUCKERS I was in the Navy at the time, and it was not uncommon that a number of people would be chilling out in berthing after a watch rotation, playing games on a DS. Mario Kart DS was also good, but Tetris download play allowed for 10 players on a full-featured multiplayer match, unlike so many other games that provided a stripped-down download play experience.
  24. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

I've been having fun with the campaign so far, but this is the one thing that has bothered me. If something is 4 or more levels above you, it's just immune to your attacks. No eking out a win after a hard-bitten 10-minute battle, no exploiting AI routines to do something you shouldn't, just a road block that's impossible to defeat. Come back when you've gained 500 more experience, because for some reason that makes a difference. I wouldn't mind it so much if I dealt 0 damage or even got a bunch of MISS notifications. That would at least give the impression that an enemy is so much more powerful than me that I need to improve before taking it on. Instead, I unleash a barrage of magic missiles, lightning bolts, and fireballs and every single one of them blinks the word IMMUNE! on my screen. As much as Bioware has sold the game on being a huge open world, it's a little aggravating to have such a blatant indication that, no, it's not really as open as I'd like it to be.
  25. Have they gotten any faster with letting you trade online? The last one I played was SoulSilver, and I remember it taking FOR-EV-ER to get access to that stuff.
