  1. VOXELS! Can there just be a kickstarter for voxels in general? I want to play more things like Voxelstein! (Oh yeah and Outcast was an awesome game.)
  2. Diablo III

I think the sheer number of skills/runes would be overwhelming if you shoved them all at a new player right off the bat. That's the only reason I can really think of.
  3. Goat Simulator: Queen of Chaos, Bringer of Destruction

Wow, two Goat-games in the same week? Jeez, first it was World War II, then it was zombies, and now it's goats. Come on, game developers, at least try for some originality!
  4. Recently completed video games

Thinking back on it, I may have been reading too far into the game when I mentioned Freudian overtones. There is definitely some pseudo-psychological meandering, but it only flirts vaguely with the full on Oedipus type stuff that you might associate with writing that takes Freud too seriously. I'd say that the game works best when it keeps the symbolism and imagery in the writing open-ended. There are a few times when it becomes more heavy-handed, like (minor spoiler) and those definitely bugged me the most. Still, it was definitely worth playing.
  5. Diablo III

Man this game will really get you. I have played way too much of this over the past few days. Glad I held back on buying the expansion for now!
  6. Recently completed video games

Finished Anodyne. It was definitely an enjoyable experience. It felt like an extrapolation and expansion of the dream-world concept of Link's Awakening, elaborated into something entirely more surreal with Freudian over-tones. The writing added to this feeling, although it sometimes felt self-consciously vague. The soundtrack was nice although it occasionally felt derivative of Disasterpiece's work on Fez. The game-play got to be quite repetitive towards the end of the game, but I was really happy with the game-breaking item that you get at the end. I found the post-game exploration that it opens up to be almost more fun than the game itself.
  7. Oculus rift

Man, imagine what the generation that grows up with virtual reality facebook will be like. Maybe one of my future children will be Hiro Protagonist.
  8. Assassins Creed Unity

Well I haven't played any of these games since Assassin's Creed II (which I enjoyed) so I for one am excited to... well come to think of it I probably won't play this one either.
  9. Assassins Creed Unity

I heard that the game will be made entirely with free assets downloaded from the Unity store. Excited to see if they can pull it off.
  10. Far Cry 4: A grenade rolls down everest

But can you ride a yak?
  11. Man, totally shouldn't have read the comments in the IGN article before finishing the game: Clearly, that's how the story's going to end.
  12. Epic News: Unreal Engine 4 Released

Wow, I didn't realize they were making it so accessible. Really cool! I'm trying to get a sense of who they're appealing to. Is this a good option for amateurs/hobbyists in the same way that Unity is?
  13. ObjectiveGameReviews.com - A Subtle Journey of Discovery

I wonder how one would assert their opinion as to the superiority of objective reviews without resorting to non-objectivity.
  14. Big Dog! Run - a video game tribute to BigDog

    Haha, awesome! Thoroughly enjoyed that!

I can just see my facebook news feed 10 years from now: "You'll Laugh So Hard When You See These 27 Weird Pictures of Humans Trying to Resist The New Era of Robotic Ascendancy!"
  17. I Can't Go For That (Game Series)

I liked that game a lot back when it came out, but I tried playing the game again a few years ago and I have to say the humor did not age well. I'm normally not the sort of person to use the word 'insufferable' but I'm being tempted right now.
  18. Game Jams

    Grargh, you're right!
  19. Game Jams

Was there ever a scene in a game or movie where two people have fallen off a ledge and are fighting in mid air, and they're both trying to maneuver the other person into a position where they'll hit the ground first and break their fall? That's what immediately comes to mind for this, but I have a nagging feeling that I've seen it done before...
  20. Idle Thumbs 144: Gimme Some More

Wow, somehow I didn't even know that this game existed! I must have thought it was a re-make ala Super Mario Advance. Is it worth playing if I loved the original Yoshi's Island?
  21. Amateur Game Making Night

I had the same issue. Using Chrome.
  22. Amateur Game Making Night

Haha, the kids got into the billiard room again! Dad's going to be pissed when he gets home!
  23. I Had A Random Thought...

I wonder if it's possible for animals to act weird on purpose? For example, can a chimpanzee conceive of going up to it's friend and making bizarre noises just to see what reaction he/she will give? Maybe that's a uniquely human trait...
  24. Unity Tutorials

I've liked video tutorials recently because in OS X, you can make youtube and Unity both full screen, and then swipe back and forth between them super quick. It makes it easy to follow along with what they're doing.

Speaking of arrays, is there anything that makes ArrayList a bad choice? I've used it in Java a few times with no issues, but I rarely see it used or mentioned by people online.
