Different games are good for different reasons! My arc is similar to yours. I would have inhaled Mass Effect when i was 20, but it looks like a gross boring slog to me at 32. Mechanics would appear to be king for me also, but then out of nowhere i will spend hours daydreaming while playing 80 days. And then I picked up wolfenstein. Am i wrong to compare it to painkiller, the last FPS i played with such recklessness joy at how fun and ridiculous it is?

we had our christmas party last night. i was a bit late in for work, and got in at noon on the dot. at 11.57 the boss had emailed us all to tell us to go home early. An hour on the bus for a -3 min working day...

I don't tend to be very current with music, but these three are probably my most listened to music this year: FKA twigs, I have no idea where she came from but holy shit this stuff is amazing. Continuation of my major Brittan binge of the last year. This was written when he was 19. The beginnings of a major Steve Reich binge My live show of the year (not that i got to much) goes to St. Vincent, who melted our faces off in an absolutely amazing gig.

Whats your Phd in? Mine holds some weight, but that may be because i'm in a startup and "we have two phds working here" is seen as a bragging point. That said, in my last place both the owner and his 2nd in command had phds and mine was still bandied out as "the maths guy with the phd" in front of visitors. And my mum calls me Dr., so there.

Oh just get a job in industry, it is much nicer:P I thought for ever that i wanted to be a lecturer, but after being forced into industry, i actually found that i liked it way more than academia.

I hope the rising tide of recruiters will ebb soon. When i finished my undergrad, recruiters were amusing anecdotes that my business degree friends told me. Now they are all over the STEM field, and I really don't want much to do with them. Honestly Ben, that whole rigmarole sounds like shite. People interviewing by keyword are a pox:/

Well, Aldi steaks come in packs of two and i live all by my lonesomes, so i was tragically forced to have delicious steak both Sunday and Tuesday night. Oh the humanity.
