  1. What does MLG have to do with it?
  2. I think it's kind of odd to dismiss an entire competitive scene because of one or two incidents. Even weirder is thinking it's dead at birth when CSGO is getting about the same numbers that Dota2 did two years ago and CSGO only got popular last year. Sean, I don't know how much you're following the pro Dota2 scene these days but just last year two teams got caught match-fixing. Notably, one of the teams was Arrow Gaming. You can also just Google the seemingly innocuous number '322'. I don't really get comparing cheating in a video game to cheating in live sports when it's so much easier to cheat in a video game and there's very rarely any legal repercussions. The 2010 Brood War kerfuffle in South Korea is the only one I can think of that has gone to court.
  3. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Out of nowhere Death Grips dropped a 14-track instrumental album last week The video above is a playlist of the whole album.
  4. Other podcasts

Jake turned me on to this thing, which is probably the best way to describe it. The most relaxing way of receiving video game "news": https://twitter.com/VGnewspaper
  5. Actually, It's about Relocation in Games Journalism

I can't believe you've done this. Why would you lie like that on the internet?
  6. I personally hope for a soundtrack made entirely out of orchestra hits samples or maybe Songsmith versions of the original soundtrack.
  7. Music of the Year!

This year has been really scarce as far as albums that I enjoyed. Some real disappointments even, like Mastodon and Aphex Twin. The first half of Death Grips - The Powers That B was really weird even by DG standards(like that's a thing) but I really like most of it and the second part seems promising if the single 'Inanimate Sensation' is a sign of things to come. But of course the album(s) of the year has to be Mouthsounds / Mouthsilence. If your one of the few who hasn't heard them. Congratulations, take 2 hours off and just listen to them and be pleased with your life. 2014's 2013 Album of the year for me is The Haxan Cloak - Excavation. I didn't hear it until earlier this year and I absolutely love it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otvGoSmEDIQ
  8. I haven't played The Talos Principle so this might be off base but from the videos I've seen and you talking about it, I think you might enjoy Kairo. EDIT: It's currently 80% off on Steam.
  9. How many episode titles contains 'baby' at this point?
  10. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Played the original for 53 hours and only beat Mom/It Lives 6 times. Just got to "The End" in Rebirth after 61 hours.
  11. Beppo, the lost Marx brother.
  12. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

New music video for 'Flying Lotus - Ready Err' Not from his latest album. The video was made by the Salad Fingers guy so yeah, it's pretty weird:
  13. It says the episode is 1:52:48 long but I'm currently at 1:58:04 and I'm starting to freak out.
  14. Was I the only one that noticed when Ed picked up James from the police station, Hawk and Ed did like some secret code-sign where they drew their index fingers over their right eyes?
  15. LIEUTENANT ETHAN CARTER BLAKE. color your hair.
  16. Sports

I haven't been able to watch as much NHL as I wanted this season but what I have watched in droves is Japanese sumo. I got into it this past May. For those that don't know there are 6 tournaments (or Honbasho) a year, ~every 1.5 months. So I've watched the last three ones and absolutely loving it. I don't like any kind of martial arts. I think judo, wrestling and jiu-jitsu is really boring and MMA waaaay too violent. Boxing and Taekwando can be interesting but matches go on for so long. That's a thing I really like about sumo is that the longest bouts are like 1.5 mins so I can watch it in bite-sizes. There are two great Youtube channel that I follow for Japanese sumo tournaments Kintamayama: This guy posts edited compilations of every bout, everyday when a tournament is going on. He edits in nice little info on the wrestlers(or Rikishi), the bout before and the bout. Jason's All-Sumo Channel: He only does a couple of bouts for each day but he records it from the English commentary feed and gives his own commentary. He also records the pre-bout ritual stuff if you're interested in that sort of stuff.
  17. Oh OK. Then I'm glad It wasn't the TV Movie that I watched.
  18. How do I know if I watched the European pilot?
  19. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Take a shot every time that biscuits guy says something about consumerism and then die from alcohol poisoning.
  20. Jeff Goldblum

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this here yet but with chrome you can make any Goldblum youtube video drunk-Goldblum by playing it at 0.5 speed.
  21. Something I like about Primer is how shitty the method of time travel is. It's not get in this awesome car or enter an infinitely big police box and go anywhere(anytime?) you want in an instant. No, you crawl inside this small-ass box and just lay there for a few hours.
  22. I guess Jake is cute. In that Karl Pilkington kind of way. Now I want a podcast featuring my favorite bald, white guys: Jake, Karl Pilkington and J Allard.
  23. A Super Fun Quiz for everyone!

This one took me waaay too long to remember considering I played through it this summer. 12. I've got two guesses:
  24. Definitely Sen's Fortress. The traps, first encounter with a mimic. I really liked how the environment was an enemy but not like other zones where the fear of falling off things or poison pits is pretty common. The boss fight was not great if you killed the giant throwing the bombs but it wasn't bad either. My favorite boss fight in DS1 was the gargoyles. The different stages of it, the move set of the gargoyles, using the environment to your advantage(the slanted roof), the threat of falling off. Just great.
  25. Anyone Remember?

There's definitely a bunch of really fun custom maps like Warcraft 3 had (tower defence, party, arenas) but the arcade(what the marketplace turned into) is pretty bad as far as finding new maps and the voting system.
