I had the same problem when I was in Brazil, since Steam detects the country you're in by IP and won't let you buy with a card from another country. Fortunately, I just snagged my mother's CC and bought to my heart's content. Anyhow, if you really need it I can help you... or you can try to make another Paypal account with a Japanese address, transfer money from your original account to that one and buy with the second one (and I'm not sure it would work, but makes sense to me).

F5 quick saves, F9 quick loads I just used the Save through the menu when it seemed to be a pinnacle in the story... which was less than 31 times easily

Alistair is horrible at drawing aggro IMO. I used Shale for most of the game because he will always have aggro since he has 2 passive and 2 active skills for that, but at the end I saw the potential for Alistair because of some items that would render him invincible (magic resistance and +% healing) but he couldn't hold the enemies off me... I had to use him for the final quests anyway so it wasn't wasted money at least.

If anyone is interested in buying L4D2, there's a 4-pack promotion going on which brings the price to ~28 bucks... I'd be tempted if 3 others are also waiting for the right price (and since I missed the Gamestop and Amazon deals). On a nerdier note, I also snagged an Intel X25-M 80Gb SSD... which will be a sweet addition to my gaming desktop

Had I not have a dozen of other games to play, I'd pick it up again just to play on my new computer with better graphics... same for Fallout 3. 10 bucks is a steal for such a great game.

I have a friend who's playing through MW2 (yes, pirated copy) and from what he told me, there's all the cheap, cookie-cutter, controversial things one can imagine to draw as much attention as possible. If a good game comes from it I don't know because I haven't played it, but it surely will be on Fox News for a long time.

If the developer thinks 100ms is good ping, he must be playing World of Warcraft or an RTS... because in shooters I will only play with less than 50ms ping. Any more than that the latency compensation in the netcode has to be really really good, otherwise it's unplayable. And I wanted to make a joke about your favorite mode being Hardcore Domination, but it's too early in the morning for that

I heard some people complaining about the stealth section in the beginning, but in my opinion it was simply GENIUS to put that as an intro to the game for several reasons: -it teaches you how to read the environment and how to traverse it -more importantly, it teaches you how to execute stealth kills And with that seared in the player's brain, it becomes second nature to do stealth kills through the rest of the game, which is challenging and fun. I'm now in my second playthrough in the Hard setting... and hopefully some day I'll do it in crushing.

Favorite game: Quake series, especially Quake 2 and more specifically the Action Quake 2 mod. That's the single game I've played the most in my life and if there were active servers still up in the US I'd still play it. Ludicrous twitch gameplay, rewards skill above everything else. If you never played it, think CS types of guns in crazy maps at burlesque speeds. Best game: Portal They managed to distill everything that's good in game design in a tight package. Gameplay, storytelling, presentation... all top notch. Desert Island game: Team Fortress 2 That's the game that even after 300 hours playing it, I never got tired of it. And with new and free content still coming out, I'll probably play it for a very long while. New category, Best Value: The Orange Box Call me a Valve whore, but having HL2, Ep1 and 2, Portal AND TF2 in the same box for a measly 40 bucks... that's freaking INSANE. Maybe that's the reason for all the nerd rage regarding the announcement of L4D2...

I beat it yesterday in 68 races on normal... I'll probably try it again tonight It takes about 2h to complete the game, I highly recommend it if you never played it. Makes me wish for a HD remake of Rock and Roll Racing...

Removing dedicated servers is a measure to hinder piracy, since it was possible to connect to "special" servers that didn't authenticate cd-keys. However, this measure also hinders multiplayer in general, enough that many people (including me) won't buy the game. And to me it isn't a stretch that some people will decide to torrent the game to play singleplayer because they won't have the expected added value of multiplayer. GJ Activision, way to kill the brand on the PC. It would even be more ironic if someone is able to code a workaround and make pirate dedicated servers.

Speculation is that by making it matchmaking/p2p they have more control over the content of the game, since there won't be dedicated modded servers. And more control means it will be feasible to "force" players into buying DLC instead of running custom stuff like maps or whatnot. I don't see this as cutting costs AT ALL, it's just another measure to nickle and dime the PC customer base. It seems that it wasn't enough to raise the price to $60, Activision had to go one step further. IMO, it doesn't matter how popular the COD franchise is... they're defying the most basic characteristic of PC gaming by doing this and it will bite them in the ass. MW2 was a day one purchase for me, now they lost my business and I have an extra 60 bucks to spend on something else.

Looks like some people are forgetting that this game was done in Japan... If you're looking for a streamed experience, this clearly isn't the game for you.

This game sounds really interesting but it's too "hardcore" for me. I don't wanna be constantly fearful when playing something, most of the time I play for relaxation purposes...
