I've played literally ~400h of TF2 and I haven't found any hats yet (besides the halo and the Halloween top hat)... which infuriates me to no end

I was hoping for some discussion about Jack in ME2!

Hell yeah the mouse makes a big difference in FPS games and every other game that uses the mouse. I'm left handed when it comes to using the mouse, so I have a very limited amount of options... I usually stick to the Razer brand, my last one was a Copperhead and now I'm using a Salmosa, which is perfect for people who use the fingertips to grab the mouse. I'd tell you to consider: -right/left hand -hand/fingertips grip -extra buttons/simplicity -price range

I finished the "story mode" of The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom in one sitting this Sunday, excellent game. If you liked Braid, you will definitely like it.

Awesome news... Civ has always been the kind of game that I'd install Friday night, play until Sunday and uninstall. Rinse, repeat 100 times. Still waiting for an Alpha Centauri remake...

I'd like to hear your opinion on Jack. I was playing her loyalty quest for the 2nd time yesterday and there was a part where she says something like: "Shit I don't understand. I'm a dangerous bitch, yet sometimes I feel like an innocent girl. Fuck, let's blow this place to pieces." At that moment I cringed, almost facepalmed. WORST CHARACTER EVER.

Hmmm, they say in the podcast that Dante's Inferno didn't have to change the name to something more extreme, but I'm pretty sure the name of the poem is Divine Comedy (which is divided in 3 parts, inferno, purgatorio and paradiso).

So I'm in my second playthrough as I said, this time a Paragon. I was hoping that I would be able to have different "decisions" of the character in the ME1 canon. I had this illusion that during my 1st time playing as a Renegade, I had influenced what the game thought I did in ME1 because they were set up accordingly: I killed Wrex and the Krogans, I killed the Council, etc. However, even playing as a Paragon the choices are exactly the same! It means that there's a wealth of content that I will never be able to see just because I lost my ME1 save games. And now I'm worried that they will carry the same decision for ME3, meaning that if you never played 1/2 you'll miss a LOT of stuff, if you played 2 then you get some stuff but to get everything you need to have a character that played the 2 previous games. And I'm really not going to play ME1 again and then play ME2 with that character for a 3rd time.

About Jack, the storyline gives every chance for her to change from the "badass bitch" persona to anything that would be an improvement, which would make her a deeper, better designed character. But no, even after her loyalty quest she keeps denying what happened and in every sentence she has to throw in an F-bomb or Shit for badass-bitchiness sake. On the other hand, Thane is a great character. Best one in the bunch, followed by Mordin and Miranda.

If I had to give this game a score from 0-10, I'd deduct 1 point no matter what just because of Jack. Worst game character EVER.

Holy shit pyide, you just got me more minutes in my life... thanks a bunch man. On another note, I'm in my second playthrough and I am pretty convinced that there's a HUGE bug related to that. During the second time around, you get +25% XP for everything. This means that once in a while, you will finish a main quest and get 1250XP and this will push you not one level but two. Shepard gets 4 skill points as he/she should, but the other NPCs will get only 2. Has anyone else noticed that? Or am I having hallucinations and during the 1st playthrough the NPCs got less skill points than Shepard anyway?

Instead it's more like: "Hey, endorse this shop and you get a fat discount" "I am Comm. Shepard and this is my favorite shop in the Citadel"

What pisses me off about the loading screens is that the loading itself may be done but the game won't continue until the loading screen FMV is over. At first it wasn't a big deal, but now in my 2nd playthrough I'm TIRED of seeing those 4 engine meters go green.

OK, I've played until level 10, which translates to ~10h of gameplay, give or take. My impressions so far, keep in mind the last BF game I played was 1942. -Scoreboard, Squad Menu and other UI stuff bring my computer to a grinding halt. Interface in general is really slow, especially the server browser. Yes, I know this is a BETA, these will be the only nitpicky beta complaints I'll have. -Gameplay-wise, I find Modern Warfare far superior. Hit detection (and notification), movement, latency prediction. I don't know if I have to develop a new set of skills as an FPS player to be better in this game, but I've always done pretty well and most games (namely Quake, CS, TF2, MW). -Teamplay doesn't happen AT ALL. I don't know how many of each class my team has. I wish I could know if a Medic is in range to decide whether I'll use a reinforcement ticket or not. I wish someone used the microphone for a change. Probably this will become a lesser issue after launch. I have to say I'm tempted to buy this game, but if I have to spend 50 bucks on something I would buy MW2 before this.

About the scanning, there is WAAAAAAAAY more minerals than you will ever need for all the research... IMHO just go to the planets that are labeled Rich and get them to moderate and you will do just fine.

Well, I'll take that the Multiplayer demo you're talking about will only be available to pre-orders... at least that's what the Steam product page is saying.

I haven't noticed any loading time problems (perhaps because I'm running on an Intel SSD). I'll give it a shot again tonight, I'll disable the depth of field as suggested.

I got the Enhanced Edition from Steam during the end of year sale. Installed it yesterday and the game froze just after the 1st fight. Good times... and by the way, that's a very inefficient engine. I have a core i7 @ 4GHz, HD4870 and it's reaaaally slow @ 1920x1200...

I bought one of the best games in my youth at gog.com: Might and Magic 1-6 compilation. Now I'm probably half-way through MM6, this game still kicks ass.
