The Great Twitch Purge of Three Weeks From Now
mikemariano replied to theinternetftw's topic in Idle Banter
Save Nick playing Solitaire! It's on YouTube but double-check that it's the whole stream. -
Wow. Is everyone who sang the new theme song required to show up and form a chorus?
-
Gah, now it's stuck there again! I don't even know the original lyrics anymore!

Is the new logo an indication that they're making the new game in Hypercard?

Party member Dietrich is also a shaman, though I noticed his summons weren't powerful enough in the late game. I wonder if you can both summon the same environmental spirit at the same time...?

It was a great e-mail! How do you do quality control for a Spongebob video?

JazzPunk - A Retro Spyberpunk Comedy Adventure

Yes. I play with a MacBook Pro trackpad and my vision was flipping all over the place. I ended up just living with it though, because I thought maybe the game didn't need me to display any dexterity? -
Basically I just want to spoil all the special enemies from Sir, You Are Being Hunted.

This game went on sale a few weeks ago and I played it a bit this weekend. It's intense! In general it isn't too difficult to avoid the robots, but to actually get anything done you have to sneak around them. And I'm terrible at it!

This doesn't look as weird or eerie as I remember the NES game being, but it still looks fun!

Idle Thumbs 168: I Like the Hair
mikemariano replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Right on; the Irish language doesn't owe a thing to the alphabet of their former conquerors! Though, uh, I can't even begin to spell in Irish. Are there any good Irish language video games? -

I just beat this game. I liked it. It looked good and I took a lot of screenshots. I beat just about zero of the "game" portions, though. I never played actual Wave Race 64 and I'm terrible at the fake version. Looks like I'll have to go back for all those delectable achievements! -
Idle Thumbs 167: And That's Why Skeletons Fart That Way

Overalls + penguin suit + shirt + iconic cap. (I'm going to assume that Mario isn't nude under his suits. Dear questions at idlethumbs dot net: Is Mario nude under his suits?) -
Idle Thumbs 167: And That's Why Skeletons Fart That Way
mikemariano replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I am a very old man and didn't find the beginners' stream for The International to be helpful. The announcers were patient and enthusiastic, but hearing things like "this gives +10 armor" doesn't mean much when I don't know why Dota has armor in the first place. If it's for the typical reasons, I couldn't tell if "plus ten" was a significant amount. I am also still unable to "see" Dota. I saw a big blob surrounded by smaller blobs move around a green-on-gray map. Then suddenly an even bigger blob poofed into existence in front of the (player controlled?) big blob. Smaller blobs surrounded the biggest blob. If this was meant to be an attack I couldn't tell. There was also a lot of switching in between characters, which I could only distinguish because the portrait at the bottom kept changing. I had no idea what this map looked like overall or where people were headed. Chris's statement that he expects to find this stream useful is probably true since he knows more about Dota. But for me it felt like staring into several dirty lava lamps at once. -
Idle Thumbs 161: The Eyes of Luigi

Ah, Rainbow Road without actually doing Rainbow Road. Wonderful. And Blooper space shuttles! -
I dragged a co-worker to Dear Mom last summer when I was in San Francisco for work. We sat on barrels and listened to overly-loud metal and eavesdropped on slightly-douchey guys that work for Yahoo. I ate kale tacos. He ate nothing. No Thumbs were glimpsed or harassed during this outing.

That is fanfiction. Like Clyde said, it's meant to be written more than read, and in many cases the author wouldn't be able to write their work without having existing characters to work with. Even if they betray everything about those characters! I once came across some Avenue Q fanfiction that was prefaced with a stern authors note that said "pretend these two puppets are humans with skin, legs, etc." This was solely because the author was too lazy to make her anatomically specific story fit anything about the existing characters.
