  1. Jake's 3D glasses trick was done during the 3D TV push, without red/blue part. A small number of PS3 games supported two views/players on one screen using two sets of polarized 3D glasses on a special Playstation-branded 3D TV, and some TV manufacturers had similar set-specific implementations that just stretched the hell out of the image but obviously couldn't account for menus or cutscenes, which totally broke the experience.
  2. Patreon actually has this functionality built in now. It generates a unique per-backer RSS feed that stops working if you stop backing. You'd just have to post the ad-free versions attached to backer-only Patreon updates, I think?
  3. (I hope nothing like this idea isn't floated in the back half of the episode, as I haven't finished it yet.) Have you guys considered also keeping Idle Thumbs going, just putting out episodes less frequently? I'd be fine if it morphed into The Idle Game Club, to follow the network's other monthly cast. Along those lines, you might all agree to play the same 1-2 for each monthly episode – the discussions when multiple hosts have gone deep on the same game have been a highlight in the past. At any rate, I'm excited to listen to whatever you guys put out.
  4. The blood vial system is such a massive downgrade from estus when it fails, and there are no upsides to counterbalance that. Nick, if you have any trouble the Cleric Beast, feel free to postpone the fight and explore more. That will help you build up a buffer of vials and other items, and possibly even level yourself or your cane.
  5. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

I got my first elusive SA with the ol' puke butt poke, in this position:
  6. So what's next – Demon's Souls or Bloodborne?
  7. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

I ended up just shuffling around this elusive target until I could I finally did this! It's really fun and showed me a few cool things I hadn't noticed in Hokkaido. I recorded my run through, which ends with a small but very significant oversight. I need to find time to make a Thumbs episode-themed contract. I just spent a long while making one for Dan Teasdale's Cheffo series, if anyone wants to have a go at it: It ended up taking a surprisingly long time. I really wish you could save during contract creation.
  8. I would say it's awesome you could make that mistake.
  9. The regain system is what gives health back by attacking. You'll haaaaaate frenzy. We all do.
  10. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

Also, just remembered I fished up this thread to post Giant Bomb's amazing Hitsmas video: The random target/restriction generation idea is really fun and I'd love it if the devs build something like it in for season 2.
  11. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

I like this idea and will do your contract later on. I wish there was a way to browse/save contracts on the web or using Steam or something. This whole contract ID thing is Nintendo-esque
  12. Don't apologize, Danielle! We know the pod is not your primary or even secondary job.

Interesting Elusive Target up on Sapienza. Nice to finally get some use out of the area it's set in. I tried something real risky and wow it almost went bad: https://youtu.be/-q_mXLHYeMU
  14. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

Yeah, following an opportunity doesn't feel very fun when you are in a sandbox game mindset, but it is a good way to get your head around a level and how the game works at large. Think of them like training wheels. You can take them off once you get the hang of things.
  15. I'm sure someone has tweeted this to Chris and Nick by now, but: The holiday Hitman thing is not a limited-time elusive target, it's a fully re-dressed version of the Paris level, similar to the other bonus missions.
  16. Yeah, I definitely didn't have that experience in Scholar, except for Lost Bastille via Pursuer. I did everything else on a single trip down each spoke. Iron Keep was rough, but wasn't impossible.
  17. Laaaaaaate replay incoming, @murdocj: Hearthstone has turn timers, which might be a problem. I would look and see if any turn-based iOS games have VoiceOver support. I imagine you could make interactive fiction games like 80 Days or board game ports and other strategy games work with it.
  18. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

Narratively, is the idea that she asks these soldiers to show her around, which is why she has an armed escort? I never found a good opportunity to do anything sneaky, so I eventually dropped the exploding cell phone in the side room that goes between the streets and the restaurant courtyard. Unfortunately one of the soldiers picked it up, but I decided to try blowing it up anyway. No dice, but she's turned away from the door I was at, so I go in, silenced shot to the back, just barely manage to run out of range of the word about me and escape. Not very clean, but it's a success. I was really hoping she'd be randomly murdering people around the level, and you'd have to be careful to not be framed for her crimes / try to prevent them for a SASO run.
  19. Next time you are directionless, there are two optional but very cool areas you could probably do now. Look for a way to get up near the giant bird in Firelink Shrine to get started. I'm sure the chat will help if you need specifics.
  20. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

I found a Google doc with all the escalations ranked by one guy for difficulty and then crowd-ranked for how fun they are: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dXItqz9GajHQUdVTro6foqSdrhpW32CbmKWpEnq-Axo/edit#gid=2063983274 Definitely consulting it for the next escalation I want to try.
  21. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

That's interesting. If they do release a second season packaged as DLC, you'll be able to do that on every mission going forward.
  22. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Hypothetically, sure, but the dock would have to have some more hardware for this. Power, controller pairing and video out don't require it to be anything more than a specialized dongle, but doing mirroring would mean it needs its own processor/display controller/wifi card/etc, making it more expensive and a possible point of failure. It's basically the difference between the dock being a Steam Link and a USB hub.
  23. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Yeah, they basically have enough space to put battery in up to the point of it being too heavy or expensive. Possible scenarios where Mario Maker is released, and the editor ideally has a touch screen: - The editor only works with the unit undocked, and to make up for the relative lack of content they include a ton of Nintendo-made levels. Maybe they even bundle in the inevitable New Super Mario Bros. game with the editor and other tilesets. - The editor works on the TV, but you have to use a stupid mouse-cursor-on-analog-stick interface for it. These are definitely not mutually exclusive. I really hope they do trojan horse the editor in with a new 2D Mario game, as those apparently sold a lot better than Super Mario Maker did.
  24. 3DS games often support local wireless play, so I'd say it's likely Nintendo continues that with the Switch.
  25. Still newer forum!

I just got one about Dewar's post up there, maybe because it happened while I had this thread open? Normally they work even while the site is not open, which is where my thought that they would replace emails came from.
