Surprise ending. Cool!
-
Yes. Äh? Oh, maybe I again forgot to add a to my silly remarks.

Hey Twig, I'd be happy about getting "The Void" for free. But I probably won't be able to play it for some time, so if someone else is super eager for it, äh, maybe wait for a bit and see, I don't know.
-
That is exactly what I meant. Thank you for clarifying, I probably would have ended up using small text and "humour", just deepening the problem.
-
What, no, I didn't want to post that twice. It is probably a glitch in the Matrix, you see, like they happened a lot in the late 90s.

Maybe it's too well hidden for my bat-senses, but there still is no link to the main site from the forums, no? As there is stuff happening outside of those jolly forums now, I have to check those places at least sometimes. And it's annoying that I have to manually remove 'forums/'. A second bookmark, just for the main site, don't be ridiculous!

One of the most often in my head heard Simpsons-quotes is a short on: Mr Burns indecision about "Ketchup - Catsup?" Just on random occasions it would come to mind, I'd hear it clearly, repeat it and be happy about it. Sad thing is, I just found out that 'catsup' is just another word for 'ketchup' and not some cat-stimulant. I always pictured a bottle with a cat on it and some cat-uppers-stuff in it and cats are funny and this was the thing that made me chuckle about it. So, I guess that's dead for me now - or I suppress that knowledge, try to forget. ... "Ketchup - Catsup?" hihi, cats are stupid

Peculiar!I think the discussions here are good, for the most part, and I want them to continue. I mean, I don't follow them constantly, and some stuff is not my ballpark, some lines of argument kind of don't interest me, but still, good stuff, educational, important. For what it's worth (nothing!), you have my (!) approval!

The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)
castorp replied to Wrestlevania's topic in Idle Banter
That was indeed interesting. I mean, as a concept - I still did not manage to listen to it from start to finish. As a serious question: Can you listen to this as music? I mean, like, 'Oh, that was nice, I want to hear it again right now.' Or is it rather, I don't know, like with some obscure expressionistic short movie, that one watches rather for its artistic merit than for, mh, enjoyment maybe? Yeah, I know, stupid stuff, I might not make a lot of sense or probably miss half of it, and art can be very enjoyable, entertaining and--- now I'm not even sure what I'm asking anymore - you maybe?Glad you liked Loch Lomond and The Jezabels. -
The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)
castorp replied to Wrestlevania's topic in Idle Banter
Well, FUCK YOU TOO!Woah, sorry, I'm tired, and this thing is...äh...difficult to listen to.fuck you! The best thing on youtube everybody knows with great music: Danny MacAskill's "Way Back Home" with music from Loch Lomond and The Jezabels. -
That's the problem for me with this Kickstarter - what little I have played of their games combined with what I've read and seen about the stuff they've made just makes me very much not interested in their future endeavours. While the game sounds a bit interesting it also will probably have a busty dumb/smart-girl-love-interest, a nice-uninteresting art style and a danbrownalike story. I don't know, I haven't even played their stuff enough to judge them so harshly but somehow I do not like them quite a bit. Maybe I'm full of bull. Or maybe this: (God, the things I dislike about this picture.)

I'm not in Berlin these days, but I'd still be interested in the cool places you find and the stuff you dig up - I am there fairly regularly and would like some exploration-markers.

I finished McPixel and can attest to its greatness. I liked it a lot, silly, funny, sometimes very much so, and it was pretty much the right length for the kind of game it was. I had a constant grin on my face and sometimes laughed when it surprised me with a setup, animation or solution. The last set of puzzles was a bit of a bummer – too much of one thing, a bit of a pain to keep track of everything for the 100%, and for me it was buggy and slow, which made it even worse. Great game! Thanks Sos Sosowski, and again Toblix for the generosity.

Oh, thanks. My list is mostly beginners/outsider stuff too. I'm sure someone who is actually from Berlin would look down on my list with a condescending smirk. One other place came to mind: Zosch (Tucholskystrasse 30), a small bar/music-place. They seem to have live music on Friday.

Probably not the most insightful advice and you most likely did that already, but for bars and music you could just go to Kottbusser Tor (U1, U8) and walk around Oranienstraße – lots of interesting places there. You could check out the Soju Bar (Skalitzerstr. 36) in that area, a quite small and cool club you reach through the backdoor in a Korean food place called Angry Chicken. You've most probably been there, and I'm not sure how open it still is: Kunsthaus Tacheles – the building and the people might be the only Kunst there, but it is a sight. For photography-art, check the C/O Berlin in the Postfuhramt – current exhibitions here. The Bird has good burgers – but it is popular with everyone (and tourists) so you should be there early or better have a reservation. If the city gets too much, go to Tempelhof, the old airport, which is still in the city, but a wide and open space – you can walk on the former runways, I like it there. And if you have time for a daytrip out of the city, go to Schlepzig, Unterspreewald, get a kayak – the most wonderful nature, on a weekday just a few people, renting a kayak is quite cheap.

But I don't have to re-download and re-install it right now, no? It's just for the next time I want to download it? Anyway, thanks again toblix, I enjoy the game a lot!

Regarding your discussion of I-don't-know, PiratePooAndHisBattleship wins it with introducing me to the wonderful word "mierenneuken", which seems to translate to "antfucking".

Not to interrupt your interesting discussion, but I found this article on Kotaku Australia, linked to in the Gamasutra-piece mentioned before, well written, interesting and quite anger inducing.

Japanese studies is my major, and the country's language is a big part of that. … And now I wanted to give some more insight into my relationship with Japanese but I did not manage to write a single sentence that didn’t sound like whining and to which the justified answer would not have been 'Shut up, do something about it, learn!' (and a slap in my stupid face). But actually right now I'm okay with it, I do learn daily and feel I get better. To all who want to dabble a bit with the language (yeah-yeah, I know), I recommence Anki and the sets 'Japanese Core 2000 Step 01', '…02' and so on - the program is free and those downloadable sets include audio. It does help me get better at understanding spoken Japanese.

To rerail this thread with a nice segue, kind of, aprendo español, pero 日本語も勉強しなければならないから、スペイン語の勉強のための時間がない。 Por eso mi español es muy shit. So, I'm learning Spanish, but because I have to learn Japanese as well I have no time for the former. Not that my Japanese is much better. Languages, fun stuff, but some of them = fucking stupid *********-bullshit! When I'm done with my Japanese-exam, I'm throwing a party in the castle build of the rocks that have fallen from me.

Thanks a lot toblix! When I have money again, I will buy it properly. So, you made this? Is that you in the trailer? You have colourful hair! (If it was maybe 5 bucks I would have bought it anyway, but that is just me and in no way related to the Quality of the Product or Discussions about the Value of Entertainment. And it’s not as if that concerns you, for all I know you are just the .)

Thanks Speedy, but my 'Thanks' to Sal was sincere - I mean, come on, "Esteban Freír", I am not that dumb. Btw, I have seen the guy before, around these parts, and had him in the category 'British comedian', which was at least close enough. Aaaaaanyway, sounds like a great person to meet and talk to.
-
If there are any left, I'd take one. I liked the demo - cool and silly adventure-sketches.
-
Thanks Sal. You guys can stop now hurting my feelings being smarty pants.

Oh man, I totally know who this is, I mean, like, by name, but you all act like you know it as well, but you never actually say it. So, if you really know it, who is it then, hä?
