I think the above letter was written by somebody with a medical degree. It's impossible to read.

I wrote a somewhat lengthy response to this penny arcade discussion, but I decided to delete it. This thread is about the haunted house game of the Fullbright Company, not about a huge fuck up by some guy from penny arcade.

Going to live tweet, erm... live blog... no wait, live post while I listening. You didn't touch upon the retarded backlash from Steam "users" about the PA alpha and its price. It includes gems like this: Full thread: http://steamcommunity.com/app/233250/discussions/0/864970587226651407 (ugh.. AAA title bullshit) Somebody should write down the names of all these people that are going to boycott this game, and then post a Modern Warfar 2 like screenshot. I didn't back the kickstarter (I was going to if they needed it), and have little to no interest in playing it. I've got two friends who are die hard TA, SupCom fans and did back for a >alpha tier. They pretty much fit Chris' description of those fans on the forums who are really invested. To me, those friends are to TA/SupCom/PA like Chris and Nick are to StarCraft 2. -

Call of Duty is the Lord of the Rings of video games. Minecraft is the Meccano of video games. Angry Birds is the bacon of video games.

Foil badges are just more rare, they don't give more XP. And of the X card drops from the game, there's a chance of getting a foil badge instead of a regular one (if you're over level 10). It's not a matter of "go big", maybe just "go rare". Either way, you probably only get 1 if you're lucky, or 2 if you're extremely lucked. To craft a foil badge, you probably have to spend $18+ to get the complete set. That's like cheap 2 indie games...

Even foil badges?

Level 29!? Then he must have created a shitload of badges.

Text only isn't the problem, walls of text are. For example, I think Baldur's Gate has walls of text.

For me, not a lot has changed in the past 10 years. I'm still looking forward to games with more content rather than more pixels or larger textures. For example, Duke Nukem 3D had more to offer to me as a game world than Quake. 17 years later, the average FPS game as even less content than Quake. One of my favorite games of all time is Anachronox. The game that was shipped was less than 50% of what they intended the game to be. But, the world is extremely rich in content. The whole HD move of current gen (which isn't "HD" at all) is just pushing pixels, not content or world-content. With the next generation of consoles I for see only better graphics, but still the same old world where only significant elements exist. Sure, I can shoot this pane of glass, but not this pane of glass. I can talk to these people because it's significant for a quest. But the other people simply say the same shit (*). So, for me HD is not pixels, but more definition on the world. *) I really like voiced conversations. But I don't see any harm in having text-only conversations for non-storyline. Generated text is easy, making it sound good is not. For example, in Daggerfall you could address any person you encountered, and unless the person was significant, you had options to ask for directions or rumors. All this stuff was randomly generated. The rumors often involved a quest you were working on, or a quest you recently completed. (I'm not sure if Morrowing also had this.) But this single feature made the world so much more colorful.

The only thing that has changed is that there are more games with cards. But other than that, it's terrible. I sold a bunch of cards on the market place. With that "money" I bought the missing cards to craft the Trine 2 badge (only needs 5 cards, and you get 3 drops). I received a wallpaper, an emoticon, and a coupon. After that, I can collect the same Trine 2 cards to craft another badge. Except, the only way to get cards is marketplace or trading. There are no "drops". Also, the drops are stupid. Just start the game, go away for an hour or 2, and you've received all drops.
