  1. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

The shopkeepers were able to climb back up in the black market.
  2. I Had A Random Thought...

'The intelligence of that creature known as a crowd is the square root of the number of people in it.' — Terry Pratchett
  3. I Had A Random Thought...

None of us is as dumb as all of us
  4. Post-endgames are great, not enough games do it. In both LBA games you could walk around the main town where everybody's celebrating after defeating the bad guy just before the credits start. It's a rewarding ending. As for the end game stuff. I hate endgames which are a boss battle where a completely new mechanic is introduced at the end. It's infuriating. On a complete different note, there's what Spec Ops did:
  5. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

3rd time was the lucky charm Lu being an asshole and ruining my pole position
  6. Movie/TV recommendations

what's with the rusty trombone in movies these days?
  7. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

I'm starting to get back in action. Screwed up a bit in the black market and got taken down, so I lost the ankh. After that a shop keeper got the best of me and managed to sacrifice my in the process.
  8. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

    chicken themed cheesy poofs
  9. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

I screwed myself out of being able to enter the black market.
  10. Replayable Narratives: Does Anyone Even Play a Game Once?

I used reply games a lot. But these days there's too much other games I first have to finish. The games I replayed were not just short games. I can't replay games (or movies) that have a story with a big reveal. For example, I cannot watch the Usual Suspects for a second time. I like to explore worlds, but if a world has little to offer the replayability quickly reduces. I've played the LBA games a lot of times, probably 20+ times. I've replayed Anachronox quite a few times (there's so much going on in that world). Games these days are really focused. There's not much going on besides whats needed for the story. I don't feel like replaying a game just to accomplish the same thing in a different way. Then again... there's Spec Ops. I want to replay that game. It will be the same gameplay, same story, and even the same big reveal. But it will probably be a completely different experience now I know what's going to happen. I'm not sure where I am going with this. All I know is that I lack time to replay, or not motivated enough.
  11. Amateur Game Making Night

Played it for about 5 minutes, reached a highscore of 4 I think. Either way, it worked for me on Firefox without any issues.
  12. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I've also been playing it. I don't mind the extreme difficulty. But it is becoming a bit tedious, especially the backtracking.
  13. I Can't Go For That (Game Series)

Assassin's Creed. I simply don't buy games published by Ubisoft since they started treating PC as a 3rd class citizen. I played the first one, it was a bit grindy and tedious after a while. But it had potential.
  14. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

Well.. at least I cleared the mines. Still not doing well, made so many stupid mistakes in the black market.

  17. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

Not doing well lately. Today again a failure.
  18. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

Not doing well lately. Today I almost died in 1-1, and ended up dropping into a mantrap.
  19. Recently completed video games

hint: the bottom part of the disc contains the protective layer, scratch the top and the disk is ruined.
  20. 3 questions for those of you who work in the Industry

I've only been in the industry as contract work a couple of times. So can't comment much on why I love or hate about it. I am a software developer by trade, and I can tell you that it's a very ungrateful profession. You are most respected in the video game industry. Grow a pair. (And win the lottery.)
  21. Games giveaway

I might occasionally hand out leftover games in #idlethumbs to aid people in research for their video game development
  22. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

I don't have time to monitor all those links... sjeesh
  23. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

A bit tired. Robbed the first store, dropped the shotgun in the next store while trying to kill the shopkeeper. Not sure why I did that.
