Is anyone else strangely excited for the new Wolfenstein game?
elmuerte replied to Architecture's topic in Video Gaming
Stealth is really stupidly executed in this game. In the cement factory I clear a whole floor with stealth kills. Then I went to the ground floor and missed 2 daggers, a dog noticed me a charged me, and to kill it with my vare hands. Two guard alos got alerted. But when I killed the dog I could stealth kill 2 guards who were just looking at me on the stairs. More guards approached the stairs so I pulled back. These guards were just walking around... not noticing the 10 bodies scattered all over the place. An other example, in the mission with the heli hanger. I stealth kill the commanders and soldiers. And then suddenly the alarm goes off. Guess this wasn't mean to be a stealth area. I'm a bit disappointed with what I've seen of the world so far. It's all small rooms and corridors. They're not using the large area functionality the engine supports. -
I think they do. It's unhealthy for a company not to work on its next thing. When they start losing players it's too late to start.

Yes, because you don't want any fresh ideas flowing into the company [edit] although having played the game doesn't mean you don't have new ideas. So, yeah it does make sense, if the company isn't going to do anything else but LoL.

Finished the main story of Sleeping Dogs. I didn't finish all side quests, a lot of them are rather tedious. I did not expect the game to end at the last mission. It seems rather unfinished. Sleeping Dogs is ok I guess. It's mostly about parkouring around, and close combat, with occasional fire fights. Also, a lot of driving. There are a few rather short side stories (i.e. the dating) and a bunch of repeating missions you can repeat. The city isn't interesting enough to mess around in. There's not much fun in driving around and messing around. I had a fun 20 hour experience. I still have some DLC to finish. One is a demon DLC thingy, so.. zombies. It's rather disconnected from the main game and story, so that's a bit weird.

There are quite a bunch of movies with awesome usage of licensed music, i.e. non-original music. For example The Watchmen has some great usage. But what about games? I know of one example. Prey's usage of Don't Fear the Reaper. It may not do much for you, but for me it was a great experience. Are there others?

I use gandi.net for all my domains. It's got gratis DNS, with complete zone access, and whois privacy. I moved to them from godaddy a while ago because they are terrible. DO NOT use godaddy.

Just recalled. Spec Ops had a lot of great usage of licensed music. Sadly I cannot find examples. But in a lot of cases where some licensed music is being played it's describing the situation currently going on, or the stuff that will be going down.

Idle Thumbs 161: The Eyes of Luigi
elmuerte replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Yes! Nick Breckon! It's always great to listing to his adventures. He's so invested in his stories. The cast needs this. Just like Chris is reasoning about game designs. Or Jake with this witty derailing.. -

Damn it, but computers have become really complicated
elmuerte replied to Erkki's topic in Idle Banter
They started doing that before the floods, but after the floods they increased the practice. The smaller the enclosure, the bigger chance that it's not a stock drive. -

Note, most external hardrives, especially the cheaper ones, cannot be used as a source for a cheap drive. These harddrives are bound to their enclosure and usually don't contain connectors to be used in PCs. -
Ubisoft will tease Beyond Good & Evil 3

People are selfish idiotic assholes. On average they will vote for what benefits them the most right now. All they see is Europe getting money from countries, so that means that their taxes is being funneled to Europe, and thereby to poor countries. But they forget all the benefits which they directly or indirectly get.

Started out quite bad but I recovered. But in the end I messed up a jump and the shopkeeper got me anyway. -
